My first impression is the outdoor-friendly design, with a bar that is half al fresco and the other half inside. Shutters can close the al fresco section out during inclement weather. It was a quiet evening, with a few diehard clients at the bar. I walked in, studied the rotating menu, and settled for the one wheat beer on the list: #18 Enegren Schoener Tag Hefeweizen (5%ABV) from Moorpark, CA. It was quite flavorful with good mouth feel. I sat al fresco at the bar looking in. I enjoyed the ambiance. The inside is designed for groups to sit together and talk while sampling beer or wine. Four TVs were on the wall as an afterthought. The beertender was busy cleaning equipment before closing, but he explained to me that while the beer list rotates, the first five are staples, dominated by sours and IPAs although several lagers are also available. There is plenty of parking in the rear although I noticed that lighting is only toward the strip mall. The rear spaces are dark. I asked about dogs. Only service dogs are allowed.

I didn't realize that both businesses are owned by the same people until I had to use the restroom, which is on the Drinkery side, and saw the many options of beer. It's a spacious place but I will agree with others who say the chairs are not the most comfortable. What the drinkery needs is a combination of plush couches and coffee (beer?) tables. I ended up trying two very good beers: the #4 Mosaic American Wheat beer OMG (5% ABV) and the #2 Mosaic Apricot Sunset, a fruity blonde. Both had pleasant mouth feel. I should have had a flight of various more beers instead, as there were so many good choices. My bill for both beers was $13. That's a very reaonable price. The beer tender was friendly and helpful. I sat outside with my dog as the sun slowly descended in the west. I will be back to try other beers and combine them with the pizza next door.

My roommate asked for a vodka redbull and the bartender made some weird comment about this not being one of our "hipster bars" like ??? I drink vodka red bulls in literal biker bars. We prefer smaller, low-key bars. It was such a strange and judgmental thing to say. He basically talked to US as if we thought we were too good for that place? Idk it's really hard to explain. But it left a horrible taste in our mouths. A couple came in a while before we left and seemed to be friends of the bartender- which somehow made the vibe even more uncomfortable. It's as if they all wanted us to leave. It's so weird to make your literal ONLY paying patrons feel so awkward and unwelcome. Dude needs a serious attitude adjustment. The a-hole bartender theme is out dated. That's just bad business. It's one thing to be busy and short with people when you're serving a full bar; that's usually expected, but you don't have to be a jerk to the only three people in the place lol.
