Our Sunday group was a combination of a family of three, a mom and her young son and my group of 4 adults. The instructor had some excellent axe puns and humor- but his actual instruction was somewhat lacking. He never landed a single axe in the target during his demonstrations. The target area is a bit like a short archery range, two targets in each range and it had two ranges. It's a large fenced in area to prevent the occasional wild flying axe and a plywood back with more wooden targets overlaid on it with cement floors. We were instructed on how to do a two handed and one handed throw and then we played games to test our skills. I really did enjoy throwing an axe at some wood and that satisfying thud when I would land one in to the target. Overall I had a great time and I would love to go again with the right group of people. Things that disappointed me slightly were the axes themselves. They looked like inexpensive harbor freight hatchets that they didn't maintain or sharpen (hence the instructor not landing in the target when he demonstrated) The axes take a beating and when people are learning and they hit that cement floor- they get pretty banged up. I think they need to sharpen the ones they have or go out and get some new ones. The second thing that was mildly frustrating was the lack of food and beverages available. This is an athletic activity- you sweat, you move around. We did this for three hours and didn't have the opportunity to buy water. We had water in the car (thank goodness) but if you plan to do this grab a granola bar and some beverages. Ultimately I think this was a lot of fun - and I would love to do it again with a bit more planning and my group of friends.

While it may not be the most overly themed or outrageously decorated mini golf course I've ever played, it offered an urban oasis amidst the very industrial venue. With a standard 18 holes, St. Louis Union Station Mini Golf offers a fairly straight forward mini golf experience with each hole feeling fairly unique. The difficulty level is easy enough for children and those (like myself) who are not skilled at playing golf to enjoy themselves without an overly challenging course. There's nothing worse in my opinion when a mini golf course is so hard that it drains the fun from your evening. My only criticism is that the course was not well attended by employees. While my boyfriend and I were playing there were two younger fellas who were endlessly hopping from hole to hole with no regard to lines or other players. They continued to play even after we finished our game. I think because St. Louis Union Station Mini Golf is tucked away in a corner, it's easy for employees to forget about, but definitely needs a little more watching. Overall, the experience is fun and is a perfect way to kill some time if you're waiting in a long line for a table at one of the restaurants.

I walked into the alley for my first time today, and given the fact that this place has been here for countless years, its actually pretty updated for such an old alley. we were greeted almost instantly when we walked into the door, and within a few minutes of entering the building were were assigned to our lane. The lanes are obviously maintained regularly, and the scoring is updated and modern. it even takes your picture before you start so that your face shows up in the graphics on the screen, which I thought was a nice touch, especially for families and kids when they bowl. I didn't eat at the snack bar, however it was run by someone who in fact paid attention to ALL that came to the counter, and she did it with a smile. our lanes had one or two issues, but with one trip to the desk all was taken care of. we didn't have any issues with game play or having to reset after each game as previously stated, sounds like they upgraded the scoring... didn't see any chairs with holes in them as stated in the previous review, so apparently they have been upgraded as well. and the teens that were working there were friendly and pleasant to deal with. they offer open play on a regular basis, and they have special events ( cosmic bowl, crazy bowl) on occasions. if you want a pristine bowling alley, with fully upgraded lanes, and higher prices for bowling, there are plenty of Brunswick Zones out there to take your 20 something attitude and put it to use. if you want a clean comfortable place to bowl, then by all means check out Quonset, they have what your looking for.
