Hubby and I ventured here for a mid day date. Typical bowling alley with a retro feel. There is a small parking lot, in the front. There are plenty of bowling lanes, and plenty of seats. They do have a concession stand and prices on concessions are fairly decent. We were greeted immediately upon entering. The gentleman that serviced us was polite and got us set up to bowl. They informed us on where the balls were and where our designated lane was. It needs to be updated, but overall, fairly priced and hubby and I enjoyed our spontaneous bowling date! read more

What a place. I go here all the time when I have friends over and it's always a ball. Bowling it self isn't hard to enjoy, and I was pleased how the gameplay was. Bonus points on that. Service was decent and nothing to complain about. Bathrooms weren't in the best condition from what I see. At least the rest of the place is tidy enough. Took my kids here to bowl on a Sunday afternoon. I got to say, this was the most enjoyable outing in a while because of a few things. Great friendly greeting/service at the front counter, the neon/cosmic lights/music were great, and the tech for the score keeping / data entry felt top notch to me. A good place to take kids to blow off steam when it's cold out. We came at 330 Saturday and got the last available lane. Took out party of 5 adults and 3 kids 4 hours to play 2 games lol. Of course we had a spill, have to say thanks to the attendants who were obviously used to kids and totally understanding. Food was OK. Mixed drinks from the bar were no bueno- stick w beer! Had a impromptu date night on a Tuesday evening. Too hot to do anything outside so we came here for the first time. Lots of lanes available, so we didn't feel crowded or rushed. Saw people of all skill levels there. Typical bowling alley look, but nice and clean. No smell of smoke. Snack bar wasn't open while we were there, but I think the bar area was. Not too bad, 2 people, 2 games and shoe rental was about $25. It's been years since we went bowling, but we had so much fun that we are already talking about or next visit! read more

I made an online reservation a month in advance to celebrate my husband's birthday. Called to confirm the day before and was told no problem. When we arrived, they acknowledged we were on the books but we couldn't bowl because their regulars were coming. There was no one bowling! They were rude and very condescending. So we spend some time on Saturday afternoon enjoying some of the sights up and down Route 66. The kids were antsy and done walking around in the heat, so we decided to go bowling. Crestwood bowl is located on a route 66 map, so we decided let's give it a shot. The workers are kind and helpful, the shoes were clean, and the lanes were ready. This particular bowling alley reminds me a lot of the bowling alley of my youth. They still have a reservation book behind the desk. It's kind of No Frills where the employees aren't exactly jumping up and down to help you, so you'll wait as they answer the phone. But, you're still there waiting when they get off the phone so you bowl. The ceiling tiles are still stained from smoking throughout the years except for a few new tiles that are around the new speakers. There's a snack bar where you can get Beverages and snacks. We didn't partake in any this time. We probably could have gotten away cheaper if we had done the kids bowl free event, but we didn't since we were tourists. For our family of 5 to bowl two games and rent shoes ran us about $50. All in all, it was fun to do something normal on a vacation, it was nicely air-conditioned out of the Sun, and we made memories as a family. If we were back in Missouri on vacation, I would totally stop here again. read more

The concession stand worker was very rude, and she talked down to me. I was asking simple questions and she had an attitude because I asked a question about an item. Even if you call to ask if they have open bowl don't believe anything they say. First time-I called multiple times over a day and they never answered. Decided to go up and they were full with leagues even though their website and an ad in the paper said they had open bowl at that time. Second time-called and someone answered (shocked!) and they said they had open bowl available. Went up there and they then said no open bowl til 3 hours later. Loved it decades ago as a kid and it's still great today. There is nothing extravagant about this place and that's one reason it's a super place to bowl. It has some authenticity and grit to it. When you're inside, it FEELS like a bowling alley. Great with kids but also great for a date night or out with friends. The prices are reasonable, the staff is always pleasant, there is an actual old school bowling alley cocktail bar and a handful of arcade games. It has all the modern features you'd expect like bumpers, neon lights and music, good cameras to replay the ball hitting the pins. The place is well maintained. read more

This place is archaic, but that is what gives Crestwood its charm. I'd be hard pressed to find many bowling alleys in the country that beat $2/game pricing. Shoe rental is $1. I come here with my buddies and the place is hardly ever crowded. Plenty of room to spread out and enjoy a few frames with some friends. I'm just your average Joe bowler, so maybe someone a little more skillful could critique the oil pattern or ball quality, but this place seems just fine to me. Smoking is allowed in the bar area only, so you won't walk out of here smelling like an ashtray. The parking can be a bit tight up front, but there is a huge hidden lot behind back. Cash only in the snack area. There aren't many places where $10 can entertain you and your comrades all night. Crestwood is one of them. read more

Crestwood Bowl has been around for as long as I can remember. Young and old alike can be found having fun bowling here. I am particularly fond of the Crestwood Bowl because it is the unspoken bowling choice of my alma mater, Webster University. There are 24 lanes, and they usually aren't too crowded, except on league nights. There is a nice lounge area to hang out. Crestwood Bowl isn't as fancy as some of the other places, but it's a great place to go to hang out and to have some fun. read more

I go to Crestwood Bowl Lounge sometimes, so this is a review of the bar and not the bowling alley. It is a small lounge area that is separated from the rest of the bowling alley, so there is a constant stream passing through to grab drinks to bring back out to the lanes. It is exactly what you would expect from a bowling alley - old and stale looking. Generally not much of a crowd but given the size it technically packed when about 15 patrons are there. I've been there when you can't get a seat and I've been there when I was the only person in the place, can't seem to figure out a rhyme or reason to when there will be a good crowd. Every time you go there it is a crap shoot. Bartenders are good and the drink prices are reasonable. Between 10pm-12pm they have $2 domestics, and the rest of the time they are $2.85 which is cheaper than the average place. If you order mixed drinks they are pretty generous with their pouring. They have one soft tip dart board, one Golden Tee Live! machine, a shuffleboard machine a antique Megatouch machine and a digital jukebox. Just outside the door of the lounge there is also a Silverstrike Bowling machine and a claw machine (who doesn't love those?). Plenty of stuff to kill time if you are into those kinds of things. Hardly a party destination or even a guaranteed good time, but it is a good place to stop in and have a few beers. read more

Good fun for a good price. The cost is 6.50 per person including shoe rental. The atmosphere is nice; the facilities were clean (free of the typical smokey smell) and fairly quiet. They played popular music on the speakers and had colorful lights along the walls. There were a couple minor malfunctions with the system recognizing a knocked over pin, but the computer allows you to edit scores so it wasn't a big deal. I would definitely go again! read more

I miss the feel of the old school bowling alley, especially in the St. Louis County area. This place manages to capture that feeling pretty well. It's outdated but that's what I like in a bowling alley, lacking that sterilized environment like the chain alleys that have been popping up. Bad food, old shoes, dented balls, lanes that bank to the right - it's all what I want and love. The only real problem I had with the place was the one member of the staff working the counter. I got the feeling that his job was the last thing in the world that he wanted to be doing at the time. Very poor customer service. When we walked in we were not spoken to but stared at for a solid minute and a half. I felt very uncomfortable as I stood at the desk waiting to be addressed. Neither employee made a move to talk to us though they were clearly not busy since the place had only one other group bowling. One of the gentlemen was younger and may have been a more recent employee so I could understand his expectation for the other employee to initiate. The other gentlemen was very condescending and unfriendly. I tried to be as friendly and polite as possible to see if maybe he just misjudged us when we came in but he remained cold to is through the whole night.
