Me and babes did a quick pop in to Flamingo Bowl during a little Friday date night and bowled a game, safe to say he did NOT want that rematch after I won . The pizza was big and actually decent for bar food. Nothing fancy, but greasy in the best way and perfect for soaking up all the liquor before the rest of the night. Prices weren't bad either, so it didn't feel like we were wasting money just stopping through. What really stood out to me though was how different the atmosphere feels now compared to back in the day. I remember when this place used to be PACKED -- more of a club/lounge vibe with DJs, crowds standing around, music going, and a lot more energy. Now it feels way more laid-back and honestly kinda vacant. It wasn't busy at all when we came in. The AC also didn't seem to be working too great because it was pretty hot inside, so we didn't stay too long after bowling. Still, there's definitely some nostalgia attached to this place and I'm glad to see it's still surviving over on Washington Ave. read more

So my boyfriend and I showed up here on a whim and a holiday weekend at that so it was pretty dead we even questioned if it was open. But to our surprise they were open and so inviting. Dane was absolutely incredible. He was friendly, informative and funny. He made sure we were able to order food, drinks and a game of bowling. Mark came out from the back and was also friendly and inviting. We ordered chicken nachos and pretzels bites and played around or bowling before they closed and I have absolutely no complaints. It was fun and the music selection was great. I was in a rush to be in and out so they could leave but they were not in a rush to get us out of there at all. I had heard different things about this place, so I finally decided to check it out. I must say that I was pleasantly surprised! For it to be a bar/club/bowling alley, it was pretty awesome! It's very spacious as soon as you walk in, with plenty of tables. There's a long bar, but a third of it is for bowling check in. That leaves only small portion (4-5 seats) for bar seating. I think there were 10 lanes which made it for a lot of people to participate. I had been told that the lanes were not in good condition here, but I have to disagree. I bowl on a regular, with my own gear. I would be comfortable using my own bowling balls here. The bowling area had a lot of space, with a nice center piece table in the middle for your food and drinks. Beer was nice and cold. Food (toasted ravioli) was ok. I came about an hour and a half before close and the service from when we stepped in was so terrible that we didn't even stay to bowl. The bartender couldn't even look us in the eyes and seemed extremely unprofessional and upset that we were even there. There lanes are horrible. Like no exaggeration. The worst lanes I've ever bowled on & I bowl a lot. Then when you ask them ask them about it they respond "yea we know they suck" like what? This is a horrible place. We had an event here with hundreds of people (which they knew were coming) and after spending thousands of dollars, they only provided two bartenders. After waiting an hour in line for a drink, the bartenders were extremely rude. The lines were so long that they shut down before people could even get the two drinks that were prepaid for. Screaming music with static was blasted on repeat for the duration of the event so it was impossible to hear anyone. Overall just a very low quality place. I recommend NEVER considering having an event here. read more

Came to Flamingo Bowl on a night out with another friend. We each got a $2 Stag beer, for no other reason than that it was cheap, and sat down to bowl. A little over halfway through, lane glitched. We went over and told the person we believed to be in charge and not only did they fix it, they gave us a new game. The place is a bit dirty and very dark, but I liked the classic bowling alley feel. Some may say it was even a bit classier than your typical arcade bowling alley. We had a great time and it's withing good walking distance from plenty of great places on Wash Ave. read more

Cute place, and bowling was reasonably priced. We went on new year's day and only had to wait about 15 minutes for an available lane. They also server food and cocktails. The music they played while we were bowling was excellent. The computer in the bowling lane glitched a few times, and there aren't many lanes, but this was still an overall good experience. read more

Best recommendation is that you make a reservation. After waiting over an hour we where never given a lane though a number of them opened up. The furniture is old and damaged. Came here for a work event. Our company reserved the Palm Room, which had tons of seating, a pool table, 4 private lanes, a private bar, and private restrooms. From the appearance of the room, it looked like the room was decently kept up. There was only about 20 of us, but the room could easily fit 40+. The bowling alleys had projector screens right above them, so you could watch a football game or anything on tv. The couches at the lanes were nice, and there were plenty of places to put food and drinks. There was a good drink selection and our bartender was very helpful. There were no issues with the pool table. It was well kept up with nothing missing. The bowling lanes were where the issues started. The first lane I bowled in, the balls would never return. We had to get maintenance to fix the issue, which took about 30 minutes. This happened more than once and in another lane also. I was a little disappointed. I mean this is a "private room" and for the money we were paying, I may excuse one or two hiccups, but more than two is just unacceptable. The food was okay, nothing to rave about. I would say pretty typical bar food; toasted ravioli, pizza, chicken tenders, chips. There is parking right next to Flamingo Bowl for $5. I did like their private party room, but just wish there wasn't so many issues with the bowling lanes. read more

My girlfriends were harassed and not a safe place for LGBT patrons; you've been warned. This was also during Pride month... too bad! This was our first time visiting St. Louis and we got in pretty late. We wanted to grab a bite to eat but all the food places were closed so a bartender at a nearby bar recommended Flamingos. We were very hungry and decided to give it a shot. As soon as we get there, one of the patrons puts his arms around one of my girlfriends and says something inappropriate. She was obviously shocked so I proceeded to say she's married. The guy responds with "obviously not to you, fa**ot". I was more disturbed by the fact that my friend was uncomfortable so I let that one go. He was clearly very drunk but that reflects poorly on the environment. Why let your customers drink that much and be rude to other patrons. This mind you was in front of the bouncer. Anyway, we try to put that incident behind us and go in. The bartenders hear about what happened from the bouncer. Even though one offered us free shots, some still proceeded to make light of the incident in front of us. Not very welcoming... At this point, we were tired and hangry... So we decide to do what we went there to do, order food & drinks. Right when we thought our orders were sent in. The waiter (who was nowhere to be seen when we entered the establishment), comes out and tells us they were out of my order. That's fine, I make no fuss and decide to order chicken tenders instead. The tenders were so salty and frankly inedible. I was hungry so I did my best with them. After witnessing all of this mess, they proceeded to give us free nachos to try to make up for the situation but we were all so frustrated that we decided to leave after our first rounds and the less than appetizing food. [Side note, the drinks were good.] We didn't ask to get comped or speak to a manager because it was just one situation after the next and we were tired after a long day at work so we left. It's too bad because one of the bartenders seemed genuinely friendly and the place has a really cool concept/layout but would I go again? Probably not after my experience this evening. Go and try it out for yourselves though maybe you'll have a better experience. To be honest, I never leave negative reviews. I work in hospitality, I get it. Food served until 2AM on weekends! If you don't want pizza or street-cart food, finding food after 1AM on Washington Ave can be a challenge. Flamingo Bowl saved the day, err..the night. They were serving their full menu (sandwiches, burgers, quesadillas, chicken fingers, etc) I was able to get a Cuban sandwich with a side salad for $8 plus tax/tip. I wasn't expecting much, but it was pretty damn good and a nice hearty portion, enough to take half of it home. There was no cover and the place was pretty hoppin'. DJ Mahf, one of the best DJs in St Louis, was throwing down a great set of hip-hop/mash-up and everyone was having a good time. There were a few tables open to sit down and eat. I was at Flamingo Bowl with a group of friends for a birthday party on 3/14/15. We had two lanes reserved for two hours, and we spent several hundred dollars on appetizers and drinks for our party of 10. We asked for a knife and some plates for a birthday cake that we'd brought in, but the wait staff refused. They said no outside drinks were allowed. It was a huge disappointment, and it's the last time that we'll take a large group there. Other than the issue with serving the cake, we had a lot of fun. Worst customer service ever! Went there after a night of drinking... We were all Functioning shitshows! They let us buy food, drinks and lane/shoes and then asked us to leave when we rolled our first ball (literally)... wouldn't refund anything. Wouldn't give us their name. It would make sense if we were acting obnoxious, but literally nothing happened. There's always two sides to every story. The only thing, in my defense, is that I would at least have given our money back after we paid for lanes/shoes, and they wouldn't. As a business owner, I think it's great to be able to refuse business to anyone that you don't see fit!!! Running a company is hard work and it helps keep you in control. Upscale bowling in downtown St. Louis. The drink menu is large, with a few beers on tap worth trying. The atmosphere is a good vibe, with a lot of different types of people. A high class bowling alley, where you don't have to be a bowler to have fun. The front of the place is like a lounge, and the back room has a couple of billiards tables. The back room can also be rented for private parties and events. It has its own full service bar, and a couple of bowling lanes. I believe that cost starts at $300 for the night, though I was a little under the influence when talking to the bartender. We came here on a Saturday. It is a great alternative to the bar scene for adults that want to do something different. There are only 8 lanes so there is a bit of a wait. There are featured craft beers and signature cocktails as well. They do have a food menu but we did not eat here. Let me begin by noting that my Flamingo Bowl experience was via a graduation party. Therefore, we did not have to deal with the typical volume associated with a weekend night...or any given night for that matter. We were in the room on the left side, and it was perfect for the amount of people in attendance. There is bowling and pool, and we also danced to a DJ in the open floor space. The food was decent for the most part - mostly fingerfoods/appetizers. The drinks were a little on the expensive side but manageable. I enjoyed the atmosphere and options as far as socializing. I did inquire about private parties, and it sounded a bit pricey. However, it's a great place for an intimate gathering of friends for any big/small occasion such as grad, birthday, wedding, etc parties. The lanes are limited so I can imagine there is quite a wait if going on a standard night. Either way - it was a fun experience. read more

I live above this place, so yes, it's almost like home. Love having a bowling alley in the city, but this place isn't the normal greasy bowling alley, it's one-third nice, new bowling alley, one-third hipster bar, one-third restaurant. Bar is fully sticked and the wait staff is great while throwing some frames. The food is above average for a bowling alley. Game cost goes by a sliding scale, higher later, higher on weekends=highest later on weekends. Projection screens are great if a game is on. read more

Don't be fooled by the name, Flamingo bowl has not only bowling alleys [only a few] but pool tables and a bar that has some pretty good drinks. Open late its a nice place to hang out after hours. Closes at 3:00am 7 days a week. If you're planning on bowling get there early, make a reservation, or be prepared to wait. We waited over 1.5 hours to get a lane for 4 people. The table was COVERED with beer bottles from the last party [some spilled] and no one ever came to take them away or wipe the table. Another thing I found uncomfortable as a nonsmoker was all the smoking! Don't be surprised if you come out feeling like a lifelong smoker from all that 2nd hand smoke. The pink mojito was yummy for those fans of mojito or for those who just don't know what to get. they have bottled and draught beer along with food there are age requirements before 6:00pm 16 and under have to be accompanied by an adult 6-9pm 18 and under must be accompanied by an adult after 9:00pm everyone has to be 21 years old nice place to hang out with friends have a drink and have some fun. good music nice crowd fun decorations and atmosphere. will come to again..... but maybe not for bowling =] read more

Here's why Flamingo Bowl is one of the coolest places on Wash Ave: 1) Bowling is awesome, from the shoes to the turkey dance baby... 2)The staff is more alternative, therefore the place gets a much less pretentious "wash ave" crowd. Cool people = cool times. 3) Pretty decent food to snack on, with a kitchen staff who will take requests (a guy asked for his nachos to be topped with pepperoni, and the kitchen staff saw no reason to stand in the way of greatness...). 4) Cool bartenders. read more

Believe it or not on my visit we didn't really set out for Flamingo Bowl to bowl. I wanted to try Absinthe and they served it up in traditional form with the drip and the sugar cube. So after that and a drink, we decided to bowl a few games it was the most fun I have had in my adult years of bowling. Don't recall the score, but I know I lost. Flamingo bowl gets 5 stars for the location, the atmosphere, and the chicken tenders. However, lately they've been slacking! They've been having issues with their music skipping which is just not very enjoyable. The other issue is there are specific lanes that don't work and we happen to ALWAYS get those lanes! The lane keeps our balls and doesn't correctly enter the scores which is very annoying. So i've stopped going here for the time being. FYI happy hour is from 4-7. All there appetizers are half off! Get the chicken tenders with bbq sauce BOMB!!! There's a $5 parking lot right next door or be prepared to drive around for awhile for a spot on the street. We met people at the (surprisingly) swanky wine bar across the street, but given their sideways glances at our dress, as well as their prices, we ventured out to find something else. A friend suggested Flamingo Bowl, having seen a sign for craft beer, so we humored him by going in. Our skepticism was laid to rest by a solid beer list, great DJ, and comfortable seating. Not your typical bowling alley. If I go back to St. Louis, I would go back to Flamingo Bowl. read more
