We recently had our track lighting go out for no apparent reason. We searched online for an electrician and Arnold came up so we gave them a try. They were terrific. Although we had to wait several days for availability, both times they were able to come out earlier than expected, both on date and time (once to evaluate, once to service). We have 14" ceilings so I was worried but it wasn't a problem. Derek was friendly and careful to check everything as he made a diagnosis; Yaro was not only very friendly, he was also really dedicated to the job. It turned out to be a real puzzle--not what we had first thought--and he kept at it until he found a solution, which took nearly three hours instead of an hour. Highly recommend Arnold Electric. Mary in the office was quick to respond to my (many) questions, and scheduling/communications was a breeze. Derek and Dave came out to do the inspection and estimate, and explained everything they did as well as the estimate for all of the lights and fixtures I wanted changed out. We recently moved into a condo in Chicago, and found ourselves with about a half dozen electrical projects. I called the head of our condo association and asked for a recommendation of who to call and he gave me the name of Arnold Electrical. John came out very soon after I called to inspect the condo and find out what we needed. He was very friendly and responsive, and said that if we had any questions about the work they could provide I could call him -- even on a holiday weekend. He was more than helpful. He was a true consultant. On the day of the work, Mike and Brady arrived on sand went right to work. Mike had other jobs to go to so left Brady to do the work. Brady was exceptionally friendly, enthusiastic, and consultantory in his approach, and walked us through not just what he was going to do but why it needed to be done and how he was going to do it. Do not use this company. They are ridiculous and not professional. I had no power in my laundry room and called to get an electrician out. The guy shows up and does not even inspect the issue. Rather, he was too busy taking photos of my panel in the basement and outside. Less than a year ago, so I'm aware of a full inspection report. I did not call for a full inspection. I called to get my laundry room, light back up . Then he tells me I need to spend $1400 in order for him to tell me why the power went out in the laundry room???what!!. Why would you charge me $89 to come out to fix an issue If you're not going to even fix it or tell me what the cost would be to repair it ? I had another electrical company come out two hours later and they fixed the problem within an hour and only charged me $125. Why would he even come out if he can't tell me what the problem is? And who charges $1400 just to give me an estimate on what the problem is, it's unheard of . Worst company to deal with. Do not use save your money and time. read more

Very shocked at the price we were quoted to just add an outlet 3 feet away from a light switch they could tap in to. These 2 really young guys show up and first off want to do a full house inspection. That was included in the $89 fee just to come out and look at the job. So anyway, they wanted just under $500 ( and that was with the $89 already backed out to put in the additional outlet. We've done a lot of home renovating and I know a ridiculous price when I see one. A week before this we had an outlet added to our deck for only $150.00. I don't know why my husband called these guys in the first place. You can just imagine what all the things they would try to talk us in to if we did the home inspection. BEWARE! read more

Felt a bit.....scammy to me. Wildly expensive. I'm sure they do fine work but I just couldn't get past the grifting vibe I got. The tech they sent out was perfectly fine-kind and punctual. If you need an electrican and an operation that is as seamless as possible, you want to call this place. Called these guys because the panel in my parent's house seemed to beep. Given there was no smoke alarm near it, we were concerned and called in Arnold Electric. Did an assessment and found out that my paren'ts place hadn't seen a panel upgrade in forever... and a lot of the electric work was not up to code. Not to mention probably a bit unsafe. We bit the bullet and got a full assessment and scheduled to get all the necessary electric work done - and it was a lot. Art, Nick and Matt came out for a full day and took care of all the work. Art who had originally come out to do the work went really above and beyond to do work that was going to be safe and lasting. The house is outfitted with a new electric panel, along with all the necessary grounds in and outside the house for sewage, etc. We feel confident with the work they did and also for any issues that may arise in the future. If you need someone reliable, this is who you call. They will continue to be our go to for any electric work we have in the future. read more

Jack originally investigated the need for surge protection support and uncovered a possible electrical issue from the utility service. DON'T USE THIS COMPANY! My assistant called this company because there's no power in one section of my tenant's unit. They charged me $89 to go out there only to tell me that the whole panel needs to be replaced. I decided to go to the building myself and found out that it was just a burnt fuse. I bought the fuse at Home Depot and replaced it and now there's power. The so-called "experts" could figure out the difference between a burnt fuse and a bad panel. If I didn't go out there I would have spent thousands of dollars replacing a perfectly good panel. read more

Extremely professional and helpful! I bought a house with a vintage electrical system and wanted it brought into the 21st century. I needed extensive work done, from installing a new electrical panel to adding overhead lighting and changing out every outlet and switch. From the initial inspection to the finishing touches everyone I worked with at Arnold was friendly and professional. They had suggestions and explanations when I needed them, and checked in with me throughout the project to make sure everything was just the way I wanted. I have an old place with lots of old wiring, and I had a bathroom fan stop working. I assumed that the fan motor had burnt out, but after removing it I discovered that the fan was fine, but not running even though there was electric current running to it. I knew it was time to hand the job over to an electrician, and Arnold discovered that the internal wiring had degraded to the point that it was no longer delivering a steady current. It ended up being a more extensive and expensive job than I would have liked, but I appreciate that they were upfront about the costs, their employee was good about wearing a mask, and they cleaned up the work area when they were finished. read more

I felt obligated to write an unbiased review since we contacted Arnold after my wife got a referral in a local facebook group.   I submitted an inquiry online, which they advertise all over their site: Free Quotes/Estimates (4 times alone on the homepage).  When I was called to confirm an appointment, I was told because this was a 'problem' and not a 'project' that I would be charged a dispatch fee of $89 and there would be no free quote, but the dispatch fee would go towards the repair costs.  Their office is also within a mile of my home so I am all for supporting our community, but I did not do any research on the company prior to committing $89 to them for dispatching an electrician.  An appointment was confirmed for the next morning at 7a.  I was clear this was not an emergency, they just happened to have an opening the next day. I am handy enough to believe that the work required was minimal and I researched the materials to have an idea of cost.  In short, I figured the work would take about an hour and be about $50 in material.  I was prepared to pay around $250 (anticipating +/- $25) for the job.  However, I wasn't positive if the issue was with the 3 GFI outlets themselves or a bigger problem. Their system is automated and I was texted/emailed throughout the process when the appointment was confirmed, when the electrician was dispatched, etc.  It was nice and convenient. John P. arrived within 15 minutes of the appointment (acceptable) and was professional.  He offered their included full home inspection, which I kindly declined as I just wanted 3 outlets working again and assumed that would just add time I would be paying for.  After John confirmed the work required to repair them, replacing the 3 outlets, I was then given a quote to confirm the work.  It was for $680.  My jaw dropped.  I kindly let him know that quote was ridiculous and I would do the work myself and pocket the $500 I would save.  John was in and out within 30 minutes, but he completed what I needed of him. I gave 2 stars because the service they did provide was worth $89 to me to confirm the issue was the GFI outlets themselves and not a bigger problem since I am handy enough to complete the work myself.  However, the total repair cost was nothing short of outrageous.  I would not recommend Arnold unless someone is looking for an $89 electrical review or they are offered the Free Quote/Estimate that Arnold advertises all over their website. read more

Half my power went out at 9pm when I tried to use a vacuum and a space heater at the same time. I requested service through the website and before 8am the next day I had Mary calling to schedule an appointment for an hour later. Derek came out and luckily it was an easy fix; he was nice, personable, and answered all my questions about my old electric system and when it might be time to replace a few things. I live in an old unit where things constantly break, so I've dealt with a number of technicians over the years, and Derek was one of the easiest to work with--it's a relief as a homeowner to talk to someone who really knows their stuff! I also appreciated the status updates I received via text when the appointment was scheduled and Derek was en route. Hopefully I won't be in need of electrician again anytime soon, but if I am, I'll definitely use Arnold again! read more
