If you're in la Jolla craving Thai Food, Aroi it's definitely worth a stop just come hungry because there's a lot to try What we ordered: * Crispy Pork with Basil - 5/5 This was honestly unexpected. I thought the pork belly might be dry, but it was the exact opposite super juicy, flavorful, and easily one of our favorite dishes of the night. The fried egg on top just brought everything together. * Papaya Salad - 3/5 We got it at level 3 spice and the flavor was spot on. Super refreshing and perfect for cutting through the heavier, greasier dishes. * Crying Tiger Salad - 2/5 I've had their crying tiger before and loved it, but this time the steak wasn't very tender. Flavor was still there, but compared to everything else, this one fell short. * Tom Yum Soup (seafood) - 3/5 Good for what it was--reminded me a lot of Vietnamese sweet and sour soup. Solid, but nothing super memorable. * Drunken Noodles (beef) - 5/5 Another favorite of the night. Perfectly cooked, flavorful, and exactly what you want when you're craving drunken noodles. * Thai Boat Noodles (beef) - 2/5 It was alright, but I've definitely had better elsewhere, so this one didn't stand out. * Pad Thai (shrimp) - 4/5 You can't have Thai night without pad thai. This one was good and satisfying, just nothing particularly special. * Mango Sticky Rice - 3/5 Nice way to end the meal, but pretty standard. * Thai Iced Tea - 5/5 SO good. Definitely a must order. Overall: Service was super fast we spent more time deciding what to order than waiting for the food to come out. The space is on the smaller side, so it might be tricky for bigger groups, but the food and efficiency make up for it. If you're in the area, I'd definitely check them out!

The chicken curry, drunken noodles , coconut water & mango sticky rice was so delicious! The food just melted in my mouth , the drink was so refreshing! typically there's a generalization that food isn't at its best before closing, this restaurant proved me wrong . I definitely recommend going the staff was very friendly and service was quick .

Green Curry with chicken. Spicy fried rice with beef. Drunken noodle with shrimp.

Amazing food and amazing service. Some of the most flavorful green curry i've ever had. Also highly recommend the spicy fried rice as well as the drunken noodles. 10/10 highly recommend.

AROI THAI @ LA JOLLA parking is available in their plaza and it's open to anyone visiting the shops there. my friends and i came on a sunday night, and i had actually been to their carlsbad location before, so i was excited to try the la jolla one. when you first walk in, the entrance is a little confusing since the staircase is only on the left side, so you kind of have to go around to find it. once you get upstairs, the restaurant is on your left. inside, it has a really cozy, family-style vibe. we were seated right away and the staff was super friendly. they even offered free thai tea if you leave a google or yelp review, which was a nice touch. for food, i got the pad see ew with combo meat (chicken, beef, and pork), which i loved because i like trying different proteins in one dish. my boyfriend got the pad kee mao (drunken noodles), which has wider noodles, a slightly different sauce, and bell peppers. my friend ordered the crispy pork with basil over rice, and that looked really good too. overall, i'd definitely recommend stopping by if you're in la jolla and craving thai food. it is a bit on the pricier side (around $20 per dish), but the food and ambiance make it worth it.

I've been here a few times before but always for take-out. This was our first time dining in and loved it even more! My party of eight was seated immediately and enjoyed our private dining area. We started with iced coffees, Thai teas, and a few appetizers. We have two vegans in our party and they both claimed that they just had the best vegan meal ever. Our meaty dishes were pad prik king, papa's noodles, pumpkin curry, panang curry, crab fried rice, and more. Every dish was delicious and customized to the diner's spice level. Kudos to our waitress who constantly refilled our drinks, delivered dishes in a timely manner, and quickly removed empty dishes. Can't wait to eat here again!

One of my favorite Thai restaurants. I was in the mood for something different so I got Khao Soi chicken. It's essentially an egg noodle dish in very thick curry. A traditional northern Thai dish and was made popular by tourists who have been to Chiangmai. You typically eat it with fresh veggies and pickled cabbage. The pickled cabbage goes really well with the thick curry. Khao Soi was yummy. Some of the noodle is deep fried and gives different texture when soaked in the curry sauce. I definitely enjoy the dish. My friend ordered chicken drunken noodle and larb. Both dishes were great as usual. It was really hard for us to not overeat but we mustered up all of our self control and packed the leftover food home. They typically make really good stir fried noodle. So if you love Pad See Ew or drunken noodle, really give this place a try. Other dishes are good too but stir fried noodle is really the best.

My friends and I came here after tidepooling in La Jolla and it was honestly pretty good! It wasn't too busy so we were seated immediately. The food came out pretty fast as well. Their pad see ew is slightly sweeter than other places I've been to. I am not a spice lover, so a 3/10 spice level was perfect if you want just a little kick.

Absolutely delicious! The shrimp dish was packed with flavor--fresh, perfectly cooked, and covered in a rich, savory sauce. The vegetables were fresh and complemented the meal perfectly. Great presentation, generous portions, and excellent service. Aroi Thai never disappoints. Highly recommend if you're in La Jolla!

Foods here are phenomenal! We ordered panang curry, it's very tasty and full of flavor. Pineapple fried rice is also very tasty. The best dish is the tom kha soup, tasted very refreshing.

The second time I came back and ordered the exact same thing and it was meh. Plus, the a/c was down so the door was open and they were redecorating so there was construction noise so I figured I'd give them another shot. It's a mom and pop after all and the servers are very friendly. The third time I tried it, it was incredibly noisy and my mom didn't feel well after her meal and I was incredibly disappointed because I had requested #2 spice level and to me it tasted like a 7 or 8 spice. We were in a hurry so I didn't have time to have them fix it. Today I ordered the Pad Thai with tofu, no egg. They asked the spice level and nailed it. But the food was just average. It wasn't bad but it wasn't something I would consider memorable. The fresh rolls had mostly bean sprouts. It had maybe one or two strands of carrot and no cucumber. The peanut sauce was on point, however the peanut dressing on the salad that came with my lunch special tasted watered down. I wish this place were more consistent and could make that same dreamy Panang curry every time and that all of their dishes would be as good as that meal. If you live in the neighborhood it might be a convenient Thai restaurant but know that it's likely to be hit or miss. If you don't live in the area, you might want to think twice unless you are ok with an average meal.

Getting forgetful and lazy in Yelp years???? This was a find grown out of my kids attending UCSD. We love Thai and when we would visit this is a few minutes away from campus. Service has always been super friendly and quick. We've been here on quiet days and days when the restaurant was packed. Even when we had our kids' grad lunch with about 20 family members and there were other celebrations going on service and food quality never skipped a beat. We've grown accustomed to our favorite Thai dishes so typically it's pad see ew, drunken noodles, Tom Yum soup, and fresh spring rolls. One dish that I discovered here is Crispy Pork Belly and Cabbage. Highly recommend that one. They cater to dietary needs and will adjust spice levels to your liking. They are serious about their spice levels. One daughter truly loves her spice but even she will say medium is pushing it. It's in a shopping center with ample parking near Sprouts. The nearby curbside parking situation was quite easy this time probably because the rain had kept people inside. I remembered that the seating capacity used to be larger than what it is now which was only sufficient for about 10 diners. It could be a reflection that the vast majority of their business was from takeout orders. There was a laminated two-page menu sheet at the service counter. Appetizers, soups, and salads were listed on one side. The other side displayed the chef specialties, curries, entrees, fried rice, noodles, sides, drinks, and desserts. At least half a dozen dishes had an X mark next to them which meant they were unavailable. From the four Fried Rice choices, I picked the Crabby version ($22). Jasmine rice, egg, spring onions, garlic, and real crab meat were the ingredients along with Thai seasoning. When the item was rung up on the register, it was priced at $24. I don't know why there was a discrepancy, but I didn't want to initiate a dispute so I kept quiet. I took a seat at a table and soon afterward, a bowl containing the contents was brought out. The rice was steaming hot. I asked for mild spiciness at level three, however it had more kick than I expected and left a buzz on my palate. The portion size was good, but not for $24 which was the most expensive I have seen for a crab variety. I gave a 3.5 star rating for my dinner at Hot or Not Thai.
