We got seated quickly and we had a party of 7. The lady was able to squeeze tables together and we were all able to sit together. Food came out quickly and very flavorful. Staff was really nice and attentive. Can't wait to come back and try more dishes!

AROI is from Thai language and means delicious. AROI is a Thai restaurant on Prospect Ave in La Jolla. Limited metered street parking is a challenge especially in this touristy busy area. For reference, this restaurant is across the street from Eddie V's were I'm a frequent diner. This restaurant does not have ocean views, just the view of the Prospect Ave. where you can sit at the covered outdoor patio and people watch makes for a fun visual vibe. Service from the only waitress was helpful and nice. The restaurant has seating indoor and outdoor. There's a tv monitor tuned in on a Thai channel with subtitles. As a fan of thai curry dishes, I was drawn inside for the pumpkin curry dish. This was prepared and presented nicely, it tasted as good as it looked. There was ample veggies, tofu and of course pumpkin pieces in the delicious rich curry, which had a thick viscosity and quite filling. The steamed white rice was the perfect pairing and all I wanted along with a thai ice tea. After a few bites, I had to have my dish packed togo, as it was too voluminous for me to eat. Will have to return to try other menu selections but if you like delicious thai curry, AROI is worthy of your visit. Recommend

One of the best Thai spots in San Diego hands down. I ordered the Pad Thai with pork here for happy hour special and it was amazing! I arrived a few minutes late after the happy hour ended and they still honored the deal for me regardless which speaks highly of them. I was overall very satisfied with the service. Highly recommend for anyone!

We stopped into Aroi Thai on Prospect after a beautiful hike around the cliffs and caves. The restaurant is cute and welcoming. The staff is the same. You can choose from indoor seating or outdoor patio dining. I ordered the shrimp pad Thai and chicken satay along with some Thai iced tea. All of them were fantastic! My friend ordered spicy chicken noodles and the curry puffs which she loved. It was fun watching people walk by while we ate on the patio. The lady who served us was super nice to my daughter who loved the candy in the front by the register. We will definitely be back.

Great Thai food with friendly service in a humble setting in La Jolla! We came here for lunch and were able to get seated immediately. We got the combo platter and everything had good flavor and was perfect to split amongst our group of four. We also got the Papaya Salad and it had a good salty and sweet taste that was balanced with a mild heat. For my main dish, I got the Chicken Khao Soi and it was fall-off-the bone soft and perfectly cooked! Lots of good curry flavors and the noodles were tasty.

I have come here quite a few times. To find parking just to get here is a complete nightmare, but I come because I love Thai food. I came today and arrived to order dinner at 4:22pm. There was a couple checking out at the register and I waited in line to order food to go. When I got to the register the guy said they are closed until 4:30. Over 8 minutes I was turned away from ordering. They had 3 active tables that were being waited on. It took me forever to find a parking spot. Their online hours say they are open through 8:30pm, no closing at 4:30. This was extremely unprofessional and not nice and really hurt my feelings and embarrassed me in front of the people that were paying checking out. I'll never eat here again. Not only is their food the most expensive Thai place I've eaten at, but now this kind of service just is very upsetting.

dining during sunset was nice sitting outside so you can see the sky change and it set a good vibe. i really liked the food, surprising for la jolla too! got the pad kee mao and it was seasoned well, not too salty or bland. 7/10 spice wasn't that spicy so if you like spice, you can go higher. server was nice and attentive as well. it was a little pricey but expected for la jolla. would come back!

Nice place for lunch if youre heading to La Jolla. Not as big of a tourist trap and they have local deals. Pad Kee Mao was liked by our child. Try to sit on the patio to have some breeze and people watching. read more

Ordered for delivery and found myself browsing the menu while eating - planning my next order. It was all really good and they have a large menu with plenty to tempt a return order or a trip to dine in person. This order was because I was craving pineapple fried rice. Delicious- great curry flavor. Boyfriend got the drunken noodles and we shared the larb salad and mango sticky rice. Everything was great and we were so glad we ordered extras so we had leftovers for later. The Thai tea was also perfect. Look forward to ordering more next time we have a craving for Thai food. read more

The food is soooo good. I had the green curry and the tom kha. It is not the overly sweet "American" Thai food. The food here tastes like the real deal. We had a simple lunch here on a Tuesday. We had yellow curry beef and Tom Kha soup. The flavors for both were really full. It's very close to the flavors I tasted when I went to Bangkok back in 2006. If you're in the area and have cravings for Thai, this is the place for you. You won't be disappointed. read more

Their pork belly was to die for. This dish was the star of the entire restaurant in my eyes. Flavor was on point. The entire trip after this, I wanted to go back but we were on time constraints. After walking our Dog Bambam at LA JOLLA COVE , my Son got hungry and craved for Thai food. I'm always seeing this restaurant called "AROI THAI ON PROSPECT", but I didn't get a chance to try them 'coz we always have our Dog with us. But my Son was really craving for Thai Food, so we went to AROI THAI ON PROSPECT to order something to go for him, I was ready to order when I saw a dog inside, so I asked the server to make sure if they were really Pet friendly, and she said Yes. I was like "Oh yes! Then I will get more food if we can be seated with our dog Bambam" :) . We got a Nice spot by their Patio area and I was happy to order more food :) The Foods that I ordered: *BLUE PHUKET - Pineapple, Blue Curacao, and Margarita Mix. *CRISPY PORK with CHINESE BROCCOLI - Sautéed chinese broccoli with Crispy Pork Belly, chilies, and garlic. Served with Jasmine rice and fried egg. *POR PIA TORD - 4 crispy rolls filled with chicken, clear noodles, and vegetables, served with plum sauce. *CURRY PUFFS - 2 pieces of crispy stuffed puffs with Curried potatoes, onion, and chicken, served with cucumber chutney. *TOM YUM - Spicy sour soup with mushrooms and Thai spices. *SUKI YAKI (SEAFOOD) - Glass Noodles, assorted Seafoods (Shrimps, mussels, calamari, scallops, and fish), Tofu, egg, cauliflower, napa, celery, and Mushroom in Sukiyaki Sauce. *DRUNKEN NOODLES - Wide noodles with egg, onions, bell peppers, garlic chili, basil leaves, and Pork (Your choice of protein) All of the foods were Delicious! But my Favorite was the one that my Son Ordered, the PORK with BROCCOLI. The Pork was cooked nicely and was well seasoned, the Broccoli was super Flavorful, like very good, so good that my son ate the veggies without me telling him over and over again to eat his veggies. My drink had a very summer-like feel, it was very refreshing with a Cute ducky decor on it :) . Everything was good, but on some I needed to add some Salt , and it's a good thing that they don't overdo the salt here on their food so at least people can have a choice to just add some salt according to their taste buds. The Staff were very attentive and nice, our server was named PRATCH , and Lita was also nice at the Cashier. PRATCH , our server, is always at our table checking on us, she was also very nice always talking to our Dog too :) We're gonna be back here often for sure 'coz my Son really liked their PORK CHINESE BROCCOLI. The location is PERFECT for us 'coz we always walk our dog at the La Jolla Cove area and this restaurant is very close to it. read more

Brought my family here for lunch. Beautiful, airy location with a view of the beach. Food and service are amazing as always! They offer three options, we got the one with mushrooms. First time no wait time. The second time we added our name to the tablet. They told us parties of 6 automatically taps on 18% but when I got the tab, that wasn't the case. Parking is hard to come by in this plaza. First two hours free. There's a paid lot across the street for $4 an hour. Or free street parking.

I hate wasting a meal on mediocre food, so this was a truly generous surprise. I took my first bite, developed cartoon heart eyes, and now I think about it all the time! In my mind it's a west coast treat, so when I visited San Diego recently, I had a craving for it and decided to do some research; Reddit led me to Joyee Noodle House. I've been back home for months now, but I'm *still* thinking about this place. Fan tuan = purple rice roll on this menu. I had one purple rice roll, the sticky pork rice, and the radish cake. All taken to go on my last day in town. It was really hard to order light, because this whole menu is beautiful. But I had other food stops remaining and needed to keep room. I ate some of what I ordered for breakfast and saved the rest for airport snacking (the best). The depth of flavor in the sticky pork rice was unreal. I tried this same dish somewhere else recently and was so, so sad - it could not compare with what I ate at Joyee! The fan tuan was different than what I've tried in the past (more sauce, shreddy lettuce), but so delicious, and still such a perfect pocket breakfast. The radish cake was lovely. Everything was affordable. I ate a LOT of good food in San Diego, but this place really struck a chord with me. I wish I lived nearby. They also have tables outside under umbrellas. Staff is decently attentive, and after ordering, most of the food comes out within 15 minutes. - FOOD - We tried several items the first time we visited, here are some favorites that I remember: - Taro and Dry Pork Sandwich: I didn't think I'd like this, but it caught me off-guard and I really liked the flavor combination! - Sticky Pork Rice: Loved the bite size dumplings. - Radish Cake: Super crispy on all sides! This most recent time, we had the following: - Fried Buns: Nice crispy bottoms, but there wasn't much juice inside. The meat was flavored well though! - Signature Beef Noodle Soup: Very clean, clear broth. It doesn't have the spicy oil in it, but you can easily add it in from the table condiments. - Mongolian Beef with Buns: Nice flavoring on the beef, cooked well, and the buns are fluffy. - OVERALL - Still a solid spot the second time around! Tantanmen: As a person who isn't a big tantanmen fan, I was shocked that I enjoyed this. The spice level was tolerable, and the saltiness level was okay, until you get to the bottom 3rd of the bowl. You get good portions and meat to noodle ratio, so it's worth it. Tonkotsu Ajitama: Creamy with a touch of saltiness. I love a good tonkotsu ramen, and I think this is a good introduction to tonkotsu. I'm glad that they have a bunch of options so people can customize how they want their tonkotsu ramen. Pork Paiko: It's not a katsu, but it gives that vibe. I think this is a good thing to pair with the ramen. I think the vibe is different enough from the chashu, where it's worth ordering. Chicken Paiko: it's chicken katsu with a different vibe. The batter has more body and is a different vibe compared to their fried chicken (karaage). Although I think the pork paiko is better, people who prefer chicken can rest easy knowing this is good as well. Fried Gyoza: I don't know what to say. It's a fried dumpling. It's not remarkable enough to be considered amazing, but it wasn't bad either. The good kind of average in general. Fried Chicken: It's a decent fried chicken at a good size. I just hope they can maintain the size, since many establishments have a hard time maintaining chicken quality after a while. Service: You pay first before being seated, and most of the stuff is self-service, so the interaction is really just when ordering and when they drop off the food. Ambiance: Classic ramen shop. Today I had the spicy miso ramen and the okonomiyaki fries. Everything was good. Ramen is spicy but not overly. Great place to meet up with friends. There's plenty of seating inside & out. Came on a Saturday afternoon and surprisingly we got a seat inside. Lots of options for appetizers and noodles. Prices are pretty reasonable. Also Bonus, Costco has the gift cards for sale. Enjoy!
