They have so many cute items for gift giving... so keep that in mind when you need a traditional gift shop to explore. I was on my Stationery Store finding activity (per usual) back in early March, and I happened upon this spot. Great selection of greeting cards and pens. The artist E. Francis merchandise, lots of cute Culinary items, and things for babies, etc. Staff was so friendly and helpful we spoke of many Stationery events and I promised to return during the San Diego Bookstore Crawl. I didn't expect to find any business ( other than the occasional cat cafe ) that helped make them available. I was super impressed to see Purrgatory did. Although there was only one cat there when we arrived ( and she was spoken for ) we still had fun shopping. This will probably be my new "go to" spot when I need cat themed gifts. I did end up adopting elsewhere but that cat is really enjoying the egg yolk treats which seem to be an exclusive to Purrgatory. ( If sold elsewhere, I've sure never seen them. ) The cat loves these. The Lady who was working the day we went in was really sweet and offered us samples of gummies from Switzerland. She also informed us that all the plants were on sale for 20% off. In the back room, my dad and I found some Lemon Lime Maranta plants and wanted to purchase them, but we didn't know much about them. Luckily the Lady was a wealth of information and we felt pretty reassured that we were well-informed, so we bought them! Mine has been thriving, so you know they know how to care for their plants! It's definitely in a hip neighborhood in Ocean Beach and the entire store reflects that. Its location is in a great spot with lots of restaurants within walking distance. There's also a kids corner in the back where children can play with the stuffed animals and draw on the chalkboard, which is a cute addition to the charm of the place. The owner, Aaron, is incredibly nice and it's always great to have conversation with him. He owns and works the store and is very passionate about building community within the artists and neighborhood!
