Lots of seating options and we opted for the comfy little couch and chair in the back corner, which was great to just have coffee, a quick sandwich, and chat. There were several holiday specialty flavors to choose from and I went with the gingerbread spiced chai latte, and it was really good. My friend got the Good Tidings (think all the Thanksgiving flavors in one sandwich) special and I had serious jealousy over her food because I just got a simple breakfast sandwich and made the mistake of opting for sourdough instead of the amazing ciabatta it was supposed to come on. Everyone working there was so chill, the place was clean and bright, and super cute. Couple really cool things about this place: Christmas spirit & hospitality. There was they were doing a Christmas card drive for seniors in memory care/assisted living and had an assortment of blank cards and a pen for you to fill out while you drink your coffee and leave right there for them to deliver. Not only was the bathroom, super clean and spacious, but they also had a few essential items (especially for those mommies on the go) available in the bathroom that could just make someone's day if they were in need.

Based solely on customer care...I would not recommend if you like responses to your questions. I…read morehave reached out to the info email provided multiple times with no answer. I've wanted to visit Carmella's for some time, and today was the day we made it…read more I'm glad I had GPS, because Carmella's is in a somewhat odd location. You can't drive up to it, so that's a consideration for people with any ambulatory issues. However, there is a parking garage close by, so that will satisfy most people. I drove into the access for the parking garage, and dropped off hubby, as he has had recent foot surgery. I then drove back out to the street and parked. I do like free parking. The area in front of Carmella's is beautiful and expansive. A breeze was blowing, the leaves were moving, and you get to capture that view and feeling inside the restaurant. We sat right at a window. Hubby and I shared the Raspberry Almond Tart (GF) and a Latte. Yeah, it was GOOD. I mean good as in I Could Have Eaten An Entire Tart. But, come on; you know I didn't need that whole thing. Sigh. I can give my full endorsement of Carmella's, and especially their gluten-free tarts. SO delicious.

I've been to Carmella's plenty of times, and one thing I really appreciate is they offer breakfast…read moreuntil 10:45 a.m. Sometimes you aren't ready for breakfast at 8am so this is a nice option. I will admit that my initial reaction to the Belgium waffle wasn't great. For a dine in experience, being served in a to-go container felt a little off, and the Smucker's syrup didn't exactly help matters. Let's be honest, that's not real maple syrup, and it definitely took away from the presentation. That said, the waffle itself redeemed those first impressions. It was delicious, light, and had this subtle hint of vanilla that made it feel a little more special than your standard waffle. That touch of sweetness and flavor helped me quickly forget my initial disappointment. The breakfast presentation could use a little upgrade, but the taste absolutely delivered.

This is a sweet little bakery and cafe on the square of the historic town of Pendleton. I have been…read morehere several times and have enjoyed myself each time. One side has a bakery where you can watch the delicious goodies being made. The other side is a small cafe. Although there is limited seating I have never had to wait for a table. I haven't gone on the weekend (pretty sure the Sunday morning brunch would be a different story). A friend and I met for lunch at 1:00 pm on a Wednesday. My friend had the Café Club with the pasta salad and a sweet tea. I had the Quiche of the Day, the pasta salad and a hot cup of Clemson Sunrise (Vanilla, Caramel & White Mocha). The pasta salad wasn't my favorite-next time I'll give the potato salad a try. The service and food were very good. The café closed at 2:00 pm. Since we were still visiting, my friend and I grabbed our drinks and walked a few steps to the center of the lovely town square and found a swing to continue our conversation...but that's for another review. The Village Bakery & Café is worth a visit whether it's to grab something from the bakery and enjoy a cup of coffee or to meet a friend for breakfast or lunch. Lovely outing.
