I had such a good experience at this Arooga's. I was there for lunch with friends and ordered the baked potato soup and wings. We had great service. Our waitress was very attentive and our food came out perfect. I highly recommend the soup! It was so good! Will definitely be back soon! read more

I was a little hesitant to come here after reading the reviews, but the outside of this place was appealing so gave it a try. When i first walked in I was overwhelmed by the size of the dining area, and the length of the bar. It was lunch time and the bar was empty so we sat there. We were greeted by a friendly, but not overly so, bartender. Our drink order was quickly filled and i was sipping on a fresh berry Mojito. The menu is a book!! Huge!!! And i am a Libra so I have a hard enough time making a decision. But we picked several small items to share. Everything was tasty, hot, and quick. Trivia at the bar was fun, too. Overall i cant find anything bad to say. Just wouldn't call it perfect for 5 stars. Will go again, though. read more

Absolutely horrible experience. We were sat within seconds of walking in the door, but sat at our table for 15 minutes without being noticed once. Until we called an employee over to let them know of this, we were told our waitress had a larger party before us and didn't know we were seated there. Which is no excuse for another party to sit unnoticed for that long. We watched 4 people get up and leave because they weren't noticed either. We were given an appetizer on the house, but the experience was overall horrible and we will definitely not be returning. Definitely need more staff at this location, for sure. read more

My boyfriend and I ate wings and french fries at this Aroogas location last week and both got horrendous food poisoning. I woke up in the middle of the night to puke and he threw up the next day accompanied by some horrible diarrhea. The place seriously needs cleaned up. Do not eat here. read more

Disaster on Super Bowl Sunday. Called earlier in the week to place an order for Super Bowl Sunday. Said the best thing to do would be to order online via their site. Ordered 50 wings (placed order at 1pm) for a 5:30 pickup. Husband gets there at 5:30 and restaurant was packed- WITH PEOPLE WAITING FOR ORDERS. Was told just to wait for your first name to be called and they were behind on orders. 6:10 I call the restaurant and the person who answered said she would check on my order. She tells me that my order is not yet "up on the screen" so our wait will be between 1 and a half to 2 hours. I thought she was joking. So my order set for 5:30 would now be ready between 7:40 and 8:10. They had my info and I was not informed that the order would be delayed. We live 20 minutes away - a phone call would have been nice. Requested a phone call from management - still waiting. This place used to be good - not anymore. read more

I have never written a review about anything ever before, but my frustration and disappointment for this establishment could not go unexpressed. I have been to this establishment 4 times unfortunately and this last time was just the last straw. I have been to Arooga's before and I personally love the franchise and was very excited at the idea of one opening not far from my house. I've always disliked the layout of this particular Arooga's. Although all of the Arooga's have lots of televisions for the obvious reason of watching sports, this one has taken it to the next level. Every single inch of this building is covered with televisions to the point that your eyes hurts from the over abundance of television light. Also the music is so loud that you can't hear the televisions let alone your server. We called ahead and made a reservation so to have an adequate space. They crammed us into a booth not made for our number of people. The food was ok, but the service was terrible. My last waitress seemed bored and inattentive. When I asked her questions about the menu she didn't clearly answer them leaving everyone at the table confused. She never refilled our drinks. She was just disinterested and a terrible waitress. But the topper on everything, the thing that grinds my gears is that upon checking my online banking statement she/someone changed the tip I gave her on the debit/credit slip I filled out. They added a dollar and although a dollar isn't that much money. I come from the ethics that stealing money is wrong. I am not condemning all Arooga's. I have been to many good ones but, do not waste your time or money on this one. read more

We had dinner here last night for 2 family members birthdays. The service was extremely slow. I asked twice for a kids menu and finally had to get up to get it myself. Our waiter would just dissappear for long stretches of time, and there was barely anyone in the place. The manager saw us desperately searching for the waiter at one point and came over to take care of us. She was very friendly and attentive, but our service from the waiter did not get better. The food took forever to come out. I ordered a signature "mason jar" drink that was not served in a mason jar. Ha.The drink was good and the glass it was served in did not change the taste, but I think it is a lack of pride in your business when you are ignoring your own advertising. The food was not horrible, but nothing to rave about either. The outside of the place looks great and inviting. However, the inside felt somehow run down. I would not go back or recommend this place. But because the people were friendly, albeit slow, and the food was edible...I gave it 3 stars instead of 2. read more

On Sunday December 20th 2015 it was my boyfriends 21st birthday. We went out for drinks to celebrate at the Hummelstown Aroogas, where the menus suggested cheaper drinks for the "all day long Sunday" specials. The specials apparently are not honored, and when pointed out to the waitress after receiving the check she simply said "you can talk to the manager" and directed me to a person who was in fact not the manager but a closing bartender named Valerie. She vehemently implied they had no obligation to uphold the literature printed on the menus. She made rude remarks about us to other employees within earshot and field of vision. We've been there for lunch and dinner, both when it was packed as well as not and the food comes out just as quick regardless. If you go during the weekdays, be sure to ask for Bridget. I have been to many other locations, and was extremely disappointed. Our waitress was friendly but was not really knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered wings, my wings were fine but my companions were pretty dry. He ordered the cranberry habanero sauce and his wings were barely covered. My carrots were dry and looked like they were left to sit out for two weeks. The Bleu cheese was watery and tasteless. When we spoke to the manager about this his answer was to take my carrots and run them under water and bring them back to me. He explained that the Bleu cheese issue was known but had not really been addressed, and that was all he had to offer. We will not be returning. read more

I had dinner at the bar this evening and it was amazing! My bartender Jennea was awesome. She was friendly and helpful in suggesting drinks and food. She was very attentive. She made sure that I got my drinks ordered before happy hour was over. The food was absolute delicious. I ordered skinny wings and Crab & Shrimp Alfredo. The wings were hot, fresh and just enough sauce. The Alfredo was plentiful and very fresh. I think this may be one of my favorite Arooga's yet!! read more

do not go to this place!!! you could get arrested!!!! the manager is a racist!!!!! Saturday night my husband and myself went to Arroga's to relax. The lady's restroom did not have a sign that it was a restroom and I got confused... I've asked a waitress (very rude young lady) and she said that any related complaints should go to their manager and she doesn't care. Asked to call a manager. The manager came in a half an hour with a police and claimed that my husband had a gun... Which is a nonsense... As a result my husband and myself were taken to our property and then had to come back to pick up a car. I will never come back to this place and hope there are some lawyers who would be interested in filling a discrimination case - I am an immigrant and feel like I was abused by the manager of this place. read more

I've been here twice in one week. I will never set foot in here again. All the food I've had except french fries is horrible. The first night I ordered a cheeseburger. It took over 30 minutes. Served cold. A few nights later I revisited wanting to give it another chance. They have a nice tap beer list. The bartender talked me into the ribs. There were two main things wrong. What animal are these ribs from? They look like they are from the most miniature petite pig in the world. They are about one-fourth of the size of a rack you could buy from a grocery store. Total garbage. They were also absolutely smothered in sauce. They were cooked and sauce just poured ALL over the plate. That's not how it's done. I'm shocked anyone would be served this. This is not BBQ. These aren't ribs. This place is TOTAL GARBAGE. In addition, the bar top was absolutely filthy both nights and it got on our clothes. Don't even come here. Everyone at the bar was making fun of how horrible the food is. read more

A lot of people in my group said their wings were lukewarm, and one order had no rub on it (we ordered it with a dry rub, it was just a plain wing with nothing on it) they rolled their eyes when we asked for plates for our apps. It took like 12 and then the wings were like black and the waitress said we left them in a bit longer for you this time so they were hot. I didn't want the wings black. After a 3 hour ride from the Jersey Shore, our hotel suggested Arooga's as a place to grab dinner after 11PM. Cassie was our server at 11:30PM and she told us the kitchen closes at midnight while the bar stays open until 2AM. We ordered cheese steaks quickly as we were starving. They were delicious! We were really the only patrons eating meals so Cassie was very attentive to us. I have never seen so many TV's in one location all around the perimeter of the bar as well as even in the ladies restroom! We had a great dinner but there was a bit of an issue at the bar with a man who was asked to leave after he started an argument and was no longer able to be served. The staff handled it well but it was a bit uncomfortable to be around. There was also a baby at the bar with her mom (midnight) - crying a lot because it obviously wanted to SLEEP! First of all I will state that I have never written a negative review on a restaurant in my life, but I feel compelled by the event that transpired last night to do so now. Just to give you an idea of frequency my husband and I eat out 2-3 times a week (for the last 14 years). I have been unhappy and disappointed several times over the years (we are easy to please...and I don't get mad unless I feel like the negatively was intentional), but I've never written a negative review or left a restaurant after being seated. Last night at Aroogas in hummelstown was the exception. We were promptly seated by the hostess at approximately 8:30 or 9:00 pm and waited patiently picking our food and watching tv. After settling on our selections we continued to sit for at least another 15-20 minutes right in front of the server station (where at one point up to 8 servers were congregating). We were passed no less than 2x by each of them who averted nearly all eye contact with us. (During this time they cleared tables all round us...including the table directly next to us and many undoubtedly saw us without beverages multiple times each). As we sat there without being greeted or offered any assistance and both hungry and thirsty I got up and left (my husband followed). We then drove to the Aroogas on 22 and received prompt attentive service and excellent food from Breanna. I often wondered about the hummelstown locations poor reviews on here (as previously I've always been pleased), but the rudeness and indifference of your staff last night leaves zero questions in my mind now. read more

I took the kids to Hershey, PA and visited a local Arooga's with the family. With all the negative reviews, I almost didn't walk thru the doors (My kids were looking it up on Yelp on the way there). Went here last night to watch the game with a few friends. We have been here quite often but last night was a terrible experience. The night started okay, however as the night progressed, everything went downhill. Around 10PM, for some god forsaken reason, they decided to blast music. The music was so loud, my friends and I were practically shouting at each other in order to hear each other. We came to enjoy the game and talk, but we were only able to accomplish one of these since the music was so loud. Now if the music was good, we would not be complaining too much, however the DJ was not very good. We were on the verge of leaving many times, however since we didnt want to miss any of the game, we stuck it out for the rest of the game. The only positive (and the only reason I did not list this as 1 star) that we had throughout our night was that our server treated us very well and was very accommodating. We asked to get the music turned down a little, however, they were unable to do so. There were several families that were present and everyone looked clearly annoyed that the music was so loud and noone was able to have a conversation properly. If you want to watch the game, spend time with friends, or socialize, this is probably not the place to go. The music was louder than most clubs and it was kind of ridiculous. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. I have literally never had a worse dining experience in the entirety of my life. It began fine with a woman taking our drink orders and bringing them out fairly promptly. She then told us that another woman would be coming to take our food orders. Knowing it was late and wanting to be considerate to the kitchen staff, I had to go searching for this woman to take our order. This was about 20 minutes into our experience. Orders taken and drinks finished, no waitress in sight. Figuring she forgot about us I went to find her again, she told me it had JUST come out of the kitchen and she was going to get it. She brought it to us with another server. As soon as the food was in front of us (approximately 40 minutes after ordering) it was ice cold. Not just a bit cold but physically cold to the touch (wings, fries, children's pasta,pizza and chicken). When she came back about 7 minutes later to finally bring us utensils, we told her the food was cold. She asked if we'd like to send it back (to the now closed kitchen not too sure what they could have done with it there) and after we said no we asked to see a manager. Again after waiting some time and no manager in sight we went to the bar tender on staff who then informed us that THERE WAS NO MANAGER. Not quite sure how that's possible considering it's a chain restaurant but regardless the bar tender informed us that he would "take care of it." In all honesty I just wanted to get out of there. I've been to Arooga's many times and I've usually enjoyed it. However, since they started making changes, things have gone WAY down hill. The last time I was there my wings were raw. Not just pink - RAW. My husband wanted to go there tonight since they have the beer he likes to drink. Bad choice. I want to make it very clear that while Arooga's can get busy, it was completely DEAD. Our server had an attitude right off the bat. He didn't pay any attention while taking our orders and we had to repeat what we wanted multiple times. Our appetizer didn't come out until the meal when we specifically asked for it to arrive ahead of time. We waited about 45 minutes for our meal to come out, and by this time my husband had finished his beer and asked for another. The server was standing around in the back talking and laughing with the other servers. He didn't get his refill until after the food came - 15 minutes later. We had no silverware for the duration of the meal, so luckily we got burgers (which were just completely unsatisfying). I look up and notice our server clearing some of his tables, and yelling the amounts of his tips to the other servers. Completely unprofessional. Maybe the Monday night staff is their second string, but I won't be returning to Arooga's again. read more
