In Hummelstown on Wednesday and stopped by for lunch. Applebee's is the same as other Applebees. Nothing special. Food was ok. Our server was Jen and she was very nice. Ordered the spinach artichoke dip, quesadilla burger, bacon cheeseburger with cheese fries. Drinks - ginger ale which turned out to be a Starry & strawberry lemonade The strawberry lemonade had a medicinal taste to it and Jen recommended getting it without the strawberry syrup. Wife and I went to Hummelstown Applebee's Saturday. Got seated immediately. Service was great. I had a chicken and shrimp dish that was very good. Alot of taste. Shrimp were small but tasty. Wife had riblets that she said were ok. We had onion rings as an app. They were ok . Here is the part we didn't understand. They served bbq sauce with the onion rings. Is that normal for Applebee's to do that. We found it strange. All our food was hot and pretty good. Can anyone shed some light on the bbq with Onion rings thing. Just seems strange. read more

It's been years since we ate at Applebees, so we weren't sure what to expect. It was Friday night at about 6:00, so we expected a line, and lots of noise. We were pleasantly surprised that we were seated right away. It was quieter than we expected too. Actually, at our age, quiet and uncrowded are unexpected pleasures! Another pleasure - very unexpected - was the tab. We each ordered entrees and sodas, and we split a dessert, and it came out to just $42! Plus tip, of course! As for the food, my wife had the southwest chicken bowl (a bit spicier than she was expecting), and I ordered half a rack of ribs, which were loaded with a sweet and tangy bbq sauce. You'll need lots of napkins!! For dessert we ordered the Cinnabon Mini Swirls - basically tiny warm cinnamon rolls rolled in a pile of sugar and cinnamon with a side of the Cinnabon frosting. SO yummy! SO messy! Apparently they're meant to be eaten with your fingers, so you'll need a supply of napkins for that too! Overall, an excellent value! We'll be coming back. read more

Applebee's is what you expect it to be. We usually go in and sit at the bar because 1) the bar is less busy during lunch, and 2) the bartender is super friendly! Our last visit we just ordered the chips and queso (less than $6) and the special drinks for the month. Our app came out pretty quickly, due to the dining room being packed). Good help is hard to find . All of the meals at are group were poorly prepared. If they were made the way intended it would of been good. Burt overcooked and even wondering if it was cheese or meat. We went for the unlimited wings and got to only eat 1 plate. Not even 3 wings down the waiter was asking if we wanted boxes. On top of that the wings were so dry and we left with stomachaches. This Applebees is awful .. The staff is inexperienced and not suited for their respective jobs from the bartenders to the Host and Hostess. First, we were told there was a 20-minute wait but walked out after 45 minutes when no table became available. Many tables were empty. The hostess told us that they were short on kitchen help and we'd just have to wait. I'm fine with that explanation itself but the way she communicated it was hostile. It has been a while since I visit Applebee. I didn't have good experience before in other locations, mainly with food quality. However, this time Applebee of Mae st changes my mind. It was quiet on Wednesday night, we walked in and got seated right away. Start with fresh pretzels, it was so warm and delicious dippling in cheese or mustard sauce. Ask for PITA.. :) For our appetizer we ordered the classic combo and it was delicious... My little one loved the chicken quesadilla. For drink I had Captain Bahamas Mama and it was good. Funny because the wait time listed here on Yelp says 5 minutes, but we were told it would be over an hour before they could seat our party. The restaurant only had a few customers (we walked around) and several employees were hanging around with the hostess up front. The hostess loudly complained that she should have called out sick. It's 8:30 on a Wednesday night. We will not be attempting a return visit. Customer service at the bar is disgusting. we sat down at the bar waited 5 minutes for service then bartender working (September 26 2:34 Pm) threw the menus at us and walked away. No hello can I help nothing. Just walked away with her ugly angry face. Very unhappy life. You don't like your job do something else. I spoke to the manager. We attempted to eat dinner on the way to a concert at the Giant Center. Upon entering, we were eventually acknowledged by the hostess. Despite having what appeared to be 80% of the tables open, we were rudely told that it would be over a 30 minute wait. I asked why when there were plenty of tables open and was told that they were short staffed and was then asked "Do you want to wait or not?" Being short staffed happens, especially lately. However, attitude is a choice. If that's the impression they're making at the front door, then I wouldn't trust them serving us something to eat. I really try to be understanding, but the rudeness displayed was ridiculous. I would have waited for a half hour as we had the time, but not after being treated that way. read more

We stopped there for small bites on our way to Deer Lakes state soccer championship game. Esteban was our bartender and server and was excellent. He was very friendly and when asked shared with us much of the history of Hershey candy and the many wonderful contributions Mr. Hershey made to the area.
