I told them I could, and I arrived at 8:15 am. I was happy to help, and thought I'd have a chance to be treated, then go home and get ready for work. Unfortunately, I sat in the waiting room for 45 minutes, and was not seen until 9 am! I could've gotten ready for work, prior to my 9 am dental appointment, and arrived to work on time. However, they had me arrive early, then had me sit and wait in the waiting room for 45 minutes! To make matters worse, not only was I late for work, but I was charged $75, by Dr. Peterson, who took less then 5 minutes to file and polish the retainer that had a sharp edge, which was my only concern. I contacted the practice manager Debbie and advised her of the scheduling fiasco, which resulted in my being late for work, and how I was upset about being charged $75, for something simple that took Dr. Petersen less then 5 minutes. Debbie said she'd discuss this with Dr. Petersen and call me back. Well, it's been 3 days since I spoke with her and she has yet to call me back. Two of my siblings are dentists. They were both disgusted by my being charged $75 to file down a sharp edge of a retainer, which again, took less then 5 minutes. This is not an appropriate fee for service. I will never go back nor recommend this practice.

Enter Lafayette Dental Excellence. Dr. Leo, Jane, Mary, and Barb are everything I'd hoped to find, but never thought I would. Dr. Leo excels in the traits I value most in a dentist: patience, attention to detail, and outstanding knowledge of the most up-to-date advances in dentistry - in addition to foundational knowledge from experience, of course. Oh and, of equal import, compassion for my terror of anything remotely related to dental issues. Dr. Leo's assistant, Jane, could not be more kind and efficient. Mary, the office manager, is incredibly knowledgeable as well, so kind (must be a prerequisite for the office), and just fun to talk to - even in the midst of a painful dental emergency. Finally, Barb, my very first introduction to the office when I called, is warm and engaging. She sold me on giving the office a try, and I am so glad I did. Highly recommend this team.

Totally understand why these are in place and that I should be better about remembering my appointments, but sometimes I just forget as many people do I am sure!

I found out my insurance did not cover my treatment over a year after I finished treatment, and I only found out because I was sent to collections. They never mailed me a bill, or even attempted to contact me. On top of that, they constantly had orthodontists leaving the practice, and different orthodontist overseeing my care. I ultimately had to go through a second round of treatment at a different office, because they never correctly aligned my jaw. After switching offices and moving over my records, there were multiple fillings that my new office said were "unnecessary". So it definitely felt like Orchard Dental Group was just trying to get as much money out of me as possible. I had a friend come here for dental work as well and he was incorrectly billed, and had to fight his insurance company to fix something the office should have initially provided.

Has been going downhill for a while, and I don't think anyone that works there cares much or even notices. The floors, walls, countertops, door handles, and windows in a medical facility should not be dirty and grimy. Receptionist always seems like she is just SO OVER having to check people in and verify insurance. Just not suited for that job. Dentists seem to be coming and going through a revolving door. My rating has gone from a 5 to a 1. For such an expensive service, I expect better.
