I was traumatized when I got to Klitzners and asked so many questions over and over prior to moving in. Now it's over 2 years later, and no complaints. The ring is dragged weekly, the boarders get along great, the property is plowed early morning on snow days, the trails are plentiful and cleaned up yearly. Grateful I found a perfect place!

I wanted a straight-forward, well-kept, non-commercial farm, and you not only get that with Sugar Ridge, but I have also found a family with these ladies and the horses there. The grounds are gorgeous, with plenty of room to ride and options to suit each skillset. It's been amazing to learn more about these gorgeous animals, and it does a world of good just being around them. You can also tell how well-taken care of the horses are just by how affectionate they are with Carin; she does an absolutely incredible job with them and it shows. She is also an amazing instructor, and I couldn't imagine being taught by anyone else. (Nor would I want to!) Primarily a saddle seat barn, they've got a strong lesson program that's great for kids and adults alike. Most of their horses are American Saddlebreds, but they've got some Morgans, at least one cute Arab, a few ponies, and a quarter horse who I rode a few times for lessons. Lillian & Katie have a strong sense of what you need next, and I found that in listening to them closely and following their instructions I was able to gain skills and regain strength in the saddle post-baby, all of which was of great benefit to me. Because they're great at what they do, and they have talented horses and riders on their team, they go to a lot of shows. They went to Devon last year, as well as quite a few other local and regional shows, so if you're interested in riding saddleseat and competing, this is probably the best barn in the area for you. I found their clients to be friendly, and the atmosphere is relaxed enough that I would breathe a sigh of happy relief every time I walked in, no snooty barn drama to be found here... at least not in my experience! I was side lined with a back injury for a few months after taking lessons here, and I'm thinking of going in a different direction with my riding (dressage), but I would highly recommend Rocking Horse to anyone and everyone with a passion for horses, particularly if you want to learn to ride saddle seat or if you'd like your child to start in a lesson program.

She doesn't coddle anybody, and expects people to listen to her instructions. I know she does at times come off as a little abrasive, but i think that is because most people expect to be catered to, and treated like they are special. I know this, because i have seen a lot of people come to ride here. Even a couple of those who wrote reviews. My daughter will not ride anywhere else. Hazels horses are well cared for and good mannered. The stables are well kept. Anyone who claims that Hazel is a hack, or her horses are not nice, is wrong. They may need to go home and cry to mommy. Or maybe grow a spine. Just saying.
