Thank you to the two gentlemen at Holiday Cycles who allowed us to explore Cape Cod via tandem bike recently! Their expertise and knowledge of the area were the most helpful, and they set us up with a great bike, helmets, baskets, and lock. The cost for a very long ride was reasonable - I think we paid around $32 total for the tandem (all of the other things were included, free of charge.) We made our way from the shop to the Nobska lighthouse, to downtown Woods Hole for lunch and back, enjoying beautiful ocean views and charming cottages along the way. Would definitely recommend checking out the area via bike to any tourists in the area! Reminder that it is cash only! They let us pay upon return so we were able to stop at an ATM in Woods Hole during our ride to grab money. read more

This was an absolutely perfect day with the bikes from Holiday Cycles. The guys there are amazingly friendly and helpful. Great day and great deal. The weather this time of year is beautiful here, sunny and cool so riding the bikes around the bays here are something you have to do at least once in your life. Glad we found this place. My husband knows how to bike and I don't. I know that tandem bikes aren't widely available to rent so I was soooooo glad that they had one available. I had called early in the morning to reserve it and showed up to the shop in 20 mins! The man manning the shop was nice. He made sure that the seat heights were comfy for me and my husband and taught us how to use it as well. He gave us a map and directions and suggestions on where to go. Excellent little shop to rent bikes with complimentary baskets, bike locks, and helmets as needed! We had a great three days exploring the area and taking advantage of the Shining Sea Bikeway. We are inexperienced bikers but felt very safe and happy with our choice to sightsee via bike (the pictures don't do it justice)! Holiday + crew were incredibly helpful with bike route and destination recommendations. Someone even rode out to meet us within minutes when a tire happened to go flat on one of our rides, a ways away from the shop! read more

Nasty proprietor -- report of chain falling off multiple times the third day was met with "you could have tested the bikes when you rented them." $30 a day + tax, cash only -- anyone's guess if that tax is passed on -- I guess is market but some of the bikes are quite old. My bell didn't work and one of the three bikes had no reflectors let alone lights. We are tourists renting. When we rent for a day we expect to be outfitted to ride all day and into the evening without our having to provide the basics of a safe and legal ride. read more

The Cape is best enjoyed on a bicycle. Not just because it's better for you and the environment, but because Cape Cod has an awesome network of bike trails. Even if you're sticking to the roads the cars are surprisingly good about sharing the road. Really, it's just an awesome place to bike. But none of this matters if you don't have a bike, which is why there are so many bicycle rental places on the Cape. But they are all very expensive. The people at Holiday Cycles are very friendly and accommodating. They rent singles, tandems, and surreys (those bizarre four people carts). They get pretty cleared out during the tourist season, so plan ahead. I got a standard bike, which would only shift between four of its gears, luckily they provided enough variety for me to have little problems. The bigger issue was that my helmet didn't fit properly and was missing padding inside so it was somewhat painful to wear after awhile. It is understandable that bikes with minor problems would slip through the cracks but inexcusable that they would offer helmets that were not properly maintained for both safety and comfort. If they are not able to provide safe helmets they should NOT be renting out bikes, period. read more

We hired very nice bikes from Holiday Cycles, just down the road from our hotel, and set off to explore the Shining Sea Bikeway. Before we headed out we did a quick bike check and they were fabulous! very new and rode well. A brand we don't know Jamis - with a Citizen 1 hybrid 21 speed for her and an Explorer 1 with 21 speeds for him. Free locks and baskets. We would have given a 5 to Holiday Cycles except that the signboard outside said opens at 8am when it really is 9am. read more

We rented 2 bicycles from Holiday Cycle to check out the Shining Sea Bikeway. Cost was $20 (+tax) for four hours. We bought our helmets but I believe they provide as well. Friendly owner gave us a map of the area and sent us on our way for a morning of biking. read more

Really friendly proprietor! They have bikes, tandems, and surreys (Italian canopied 2 bicycle powered vehicles the size of a golf cart). The only set back is that this part of the cape did not seem particularly bike friendly ( the roads are in good condition but the people (locals and visitors) were all driving like Mario Andretti). read more

New bikes AGAIN! Every year I go there and rent a bike and every year they seem to have brand new bikes! It's great. The bike path is on the other side of the harbour and easy to get to. I took the island queen ferry to martha's vineyard. The best part was that the ferry is just down the stret. After a sunburned day of bike martha's vineyard, i just took the ferry back and the shop was 5 minutes down the street! Same guy has been running the place for years and years. He remembered me and even remembered witch bike I liked. Amazing memory! read more

And if you don't know what a surrey is you must visit holiday cycles!!!! 3 person surrey with a basket for 2 or 3 small children. 6 person surrey with a basket for 2 or 3 small children. And a quad for adults and kids(2 person only) all sort of bikes old and new beach cruisers, mountain bikes & children's bikes. Exotic bikes also! Helmets is a must for children under 16. Visiting the cape with my boyfriend for our Anniversary. We decided to do the shining sea trail, and came across Holiday Cycles. If you are looking for a FUN group activity for 1-2 hours for 2-4 people then definitely checkout the surrey bikes at Holiday Cycles near Falmouth Heights. Choose a 2 or 4 seater surrey cart and pedal around near Falmouth Heights beach laughing the whole time. Cost is $30 for 4 pedal for 1hr and $20 for 2 pedal surrey for an hour. Kids love this. Note: be in reasonably good shape as the surrey bikes do require strong pedal power to move, particularly up hill. read more
