Enjoyed the most wonderful dinner here for my first time tonight. I found a spot at the bar where they served a full menu, but my boyfriend checked with the hostess and she want out of her way to find us one of the only available tables. All of the staff was polite and super attentive. Our server was on point and remembered what seemed like an endless list of soups, specials and desserts. He brought us some complimentary BBQ shrimp. We sat in a tropical little outdoor room with a waterfall on the wall and palm trees and a fireplace. Fantastic drinks, they make a perfect Pittsburgh style steak. My mother-in-law recently celebrated her 90th birthday here. My problem is that when I'm with a group of people celebrating like that, I tend to not be as much in my "Yelper" mode. I don't like taking pictures, I don't sit there discussing all the flaws with my husband (as I normally would), I'm not as fixated on all the particulars (I otherwise take things VERY seriously when I'm in that mode), and well, I simply don't want to draw attention to myself... which is all the time, but even more so when I'm out with others. However, now that I've had some time to think back on the dining experience, the real me comes out..... Okay, I'm going to start with the ambience. Simply put, it was excessively loud in there, which is not something I appreciate, especially when dining in the likes of an alleged "fine dining" establishment. I sometimes have the same issue at Mastro's (depending on which room we are dining in), and I simply don't like loud. We were a relatively decent-sized group (9 of us), but I had trouble hearing everyone, and no, I'm not hard of hearing at all. It was all the room noise that was causing it. Here's the thing...... when we called to confirm, I asked where we were sitting because my mother-in-law is as softspoken as they get, and I wanted to be able to hear her. They specifically said it was their room "off to the left, which was much smaller and more intimate, and it was VERY QUIET IN THERE"...and she followed with how we "would be off by ourselves essentially." I know I heard her correctly, and I know we were in a room off to the left, but this room was NOT quiet, and we were NOT left to ourselves whatsoever. Was there another room "off to the left?" I'm still confused by it. Her description didn't come close to matching what we experienced. As for the food, the entrees themselves were excellent. Call me crazy, I ordered salmon in a chop house. Normally, I'd roll my eyes at whoever would do something that stupid, but I wasn't feeling like meat that night, so I went with salmon against my better judgment. It was THE BEST salmon I've EVER had. Seriously. It was sublime.... and the sauce to go with it was delicious. Cooked to perfection with flavor to boot. It was fantastic. My daughter ordered lamb chops, but because she loves salmon, I gave her some. She was sorry she didn't order the salmon, and her lamb was delicious. That's how good the salmon was. We ordered a bunch of side dishes, but I have to say, most of them were unmemorable, not much with flavor, and the Brussel sprouts, in particular, had a bitter flavor and were way undercooked. Worse yet, most of the sides were lukewarm when they appeared, and one, the buttered corn, was almost cold. Unconscienable. I expected MUCH better from this restaurant. MUCH. Think Mastro's. THEY know how to do sides like nobody's business. This restaurant fell way down on this issue. For dessert, granted, nobody wanted any, but this restaurant KNEW we were celebrating a huge birthday, so I at least figured they'd bring out one of their signature desserts for the birthday girl, but all they brought out was a cupcake with a candle in it. Seriously? Don't they have a signature dessert? Couldn't they have written "Happy Birthday" on the plate..... something? The birthday girl deserved THAT much, and a restaurant like this should have done more. I would've paid for it, too. Anyway, while the entrees were excellent, so much else wasn't. I hate to only award 3 stars, but I have to be honest about the overall experience. I guess my mother-in-law had a wonderful time, and THAT is what truly matters here...... but let's be honest, once a Yelper, always a Yelper, and I just can't let the bad stuff go. read more

My fiancé had heard great things about ACH through a friend, so I decided to surprise him with a birthday dinner here. I made a reservation at 6:30 pm on a Monday. They don't offer self-parking but they do have a valet ($5 fee), which isn't bad at all. The atmosphere of the restaurant is quite lovely, it's dimly lit and there was a piano being played live. Our waiter, Ozzy was kind and attentive. He offered to read us some specials for the night but my fiancé was already ready to order. We ordered: New York Steak cooked medium well (not pictured) - my future mother in law stated that the steak was a bit tough and chewy in some of pieces she cut but she still liked the steak. Ribeye cooked medium rare + charred - I thought the steak was cooked very well, the flavor was great not too salty and not under salted. The size of the ribeye was bigger than I had expected and I got full eating half of it. It was wonderfully tender and really enjoyed my steak. Cowboy Ribeye medium rare - My fiancé said that he really enjoyed his steak although he did say the it was fattier than the ribeye I had. He preferred my ribeye. Mountain Mushrooms - Nice earthy flavor although a bit salty BUT we dipped our bread into the mushroom juices and it was super delicious. Fresh Caramelized corn - It was really good but nothing really special. Garlic Mashed Potatoes - Garlicy and creamy, really good. Overall, we had a wonderful meal in addition to the wonderful service, we would be delighted to come back for another special celebration. read more

I went to the restaurant with some expectations. Although it didn't blow all of them away, it was not too bad. The service is absolutely awesome. Our waiter was attentive and catered to all of our needs. We were celebrating a birthday and they were able to accommodate to our large party. We were seated in the "outside patio" area. All of our food was average, there wasn't anything that made my experience memorable but the food was definitely not bad by all means. Compared to other steakhouses like Ruth's Chris and Morton's, Arroyo Chop House is on par. The primary entrees are steaks, including New York strip, filet mignon, rib eye, and porterhouse, with some seafood and salad options available as alternatives. Side dishes are sold separately and served family style. The cocktail menu is fairly extensive and I'm a big fan of the restaurant's homemade sourdough bread. I have mixed feelings about the rest of the food. The restaurant prides itself on being part of an exclusive group of prime quality beef suppliers and the only one in the San Gabriel Valley, a fact which is stated prominently on their menus. If these were superior grades, I did not notice. I ordered the cowboy rib eye and I must confess that it was the toughest and least flavorful rib eye I've ever had at a steakhouse. Now, I'm willing to believe that I was unlucky and got a bad cut because most of my other party members were satisfied with their selections (different cuts). We all traded a couple bites and we generally agreed that mine was the worst of the bunch. So if you're going to order steak, I would recommend avoiding the rib eye just in case. The side dishes were not that impressive. For example, the truffle mac and cheese had a bold flavor, but was a bit overpowering. The pasta was also slightly overcooked going just a bit past al dente. The vegetable sides were somewhat bland and didn't have that fresh, crisp taste. I do want to complement our server. She was amazing. Now for some other, potentially useful bits of information. The restaurant only offers valet parking, but if you drive around you can sometimes find street parking. The restaurant has a live piano player, which is nice for ambiance. The restaurant is on the smaller side so the noise level is a bit higher. It's challenging to have conversations at the table unless the person is sitting directly across or next to you. Wagyu is available here if that's what you're craving. Lastly, they allow you to bring your own wine, but there is a corkage fee of $30 a bottle. read more

Just went for the first time as a party of 8. Most of us got a drink. Service was quick and accommodating. The only downside for me was that I couldn't really hear everyone because the piano was right next to me but then again it was a big table. Best porterhouse I've ever tried! We got the porter house for two which is about 2.5 lbs. we got medium rare the filet side just melts in your mouth. The seasoning is just perfect on both. also got lots of sides including oysters (so good and sweet! Got the Kushy) large shrimp, lobster mash potato, broccolini, truffle Mac n cheese, and Brussel sprouts. The truffle Mac n cheese wasn't my favorite but it did get finished. The bill came out to be around $1,100 (including 20% tip- which is not included) Basically it was $137 per person. read more

I was a little disappointed with this place. The ahi tuna appetizer had no flavor and didn't look that fresh. The waitress was not very attentive and my valet took forever while I hear them speak Spanish and call me La Chinita. Came here for a holiday dinner with friends and the food and service were amazing! We had salads, garlic bread, the trio meat (wagyu and others) and a cowboy ribeye. Along with the brussels sprouts and scalloped potatoes. It was all incredibily delicious and prepared accordingly. I'm not a rare person and no one turned up their nose to me when I asked for medium, only slight pink. But the potatoes were so yummy! I wish I knew what kind of cheeses they used so I can make at home (Vegas) for my family since they were not on this trip with me. And of course, we had to top it all off with desert (molten cake) and it did not disappoint. The service was fantastic and everyone was very attentive. This place was great when there were hardly any steak houses in town, but as the competition has grown over the years it is one of the last places we consider when we have the urge for a steak. The food has for the most part always been good, except the the rough patch early on when they lowered the quality of their steaks, and got horribly critiqued by the LA Times. The service is spotty, it's either terrific or awful. Food arrives lukewarm on far too many occasions. It feels like the dining room is always short of a server or two. So the iffy service and inconsistency of food may be the fault of staffing. It just feels so hit a miss to want to come here too often. It would seem contradictory to give these place 5 stars from this review, but when they hit the mark that can achieve the 5 rating. Just be prepared when they don't. read more

A group of coworkers and I had dinner at the Arroyo Chop House earlier this week. I was very disappointed by the lack of refinement of all three members of the wait staff. The gentlemen who took our order appeared to be rushed and failed to take the opportunity to make us feel welcomed. Throughout the night I needed to take time from my meal and attempt to get the attention of our server. My request for sparkling water was overlooked and I needed to ask for it a total of three time before it arrived. Like most of the individuals at our table, I ordered a filet mignon, however I asked for my selection to be prepared medium well. Not long after our entrees arrived, we began to ask each other how their meal was. Three individuals at our table mistook my selection for a New York strip because of the thin appearance of the meat. Once I spoke to our waiter about my concern, he stated a filet mignon cooked medium well takes that shape. My medium well cooked filet mignon was one third of the thickness of the other filet mignon entrees at the table and resembled a 1/4 hamburger patty. A few days after our visit I went online and compared the differences regarding the thickness between a filet mignon as they are cooked. None of the images provided reflected a notable shrinkage in the cut of meat. It is my belief that the wait staff could have been more attentive as it relates to beverages and the overall needs of our party throughout the meal. I would have expected the refinement of a server to detect an unsatisfied client and made suggestions to correct the situation at hand. I've been on the receiving end of superior customer service from a taco truck. Alas, the next time a group of coworkers are looking to meet for dinner, I'll be sure we visit Mastro's. Needless to say, I left the Arroyo Chop House very unimpressed and although I originally had a curiosity to experience their soufflé, I am not prepared to deal with another unsatisfying night of dining. read more

5 Golden Stars for Victor the bartender! I often will sit at the bar because its convenient. But I REALLY wanted to sit at a table but there was a short wait and I can be impatient as hell as times. Begrudgingly I sat at the bar. Victor served me a Malbec and I began to watch him make perfect classic beverages, new creations and drinks designed specifically for the many fine bar blends they have for their own signature drinks. He is a true artist, a pro and I don't mean the flame blowing bottle juggling Las Vegas bar entertainer who slings drinks...Victor is a craftsman. Oh yeah...I had food too :-) Seriously, the food was amazing and deserves 4.5 stars. The Cesar Salad was very good and the extra anchovies make it even better. My filet was cooked to perfection and the service was on point. I was so happy I splurged on dessert and a double espresso. 4.5 Stars It's been about 12 years since my last dining experience here at ACH, and it was just as memorable this time as it was the first time. Though I'd say it took a while to get our steak and lobsters on the table, in the end, it was well worth the wait. I went with well-done on my butterfly steak, and it was cooked perfectly, while still being juicy, and NOT red on the inside. Flavor was on point! I suspect more needy patrons may find the service we received from our waitress, a problem, but it was rather ideal to our liking, since my companion and I really rather not be interrupted too much, we actually wanted to talk to each other more than anything else, our waitress was attentive enough, without being too overly concerned, or annoying. Also worth mentioning, the entire staff was all too gracious, as we were literally the very last couple to leave, well after closing, but was never hurried. Very classy establishment all around. Stopped by because we found it on Yelp. We had the most amazing drinks, on recommendation from our server Justin. I had the star&berry and my husband had the barrel aged Manhattan. I LOVE this restaurant. It has always been my favorite steak house. So elegant and classy. The staff is top notch. The food is perfect in every way. The ambiance is warm and cozy...even outside in Covid. I love the Bone In New York, the green beans, all the salads, the garlic bread! Amd of course the soufflé. We always start with dirty martinis.
