When we were seated, there was already a birthday card waiting for me at the table, which was such a thoughtful surprise. They provided complimentary bread service with their butter trio and it was incredible! Each butter had its own unique flavor, and every type of bread was warm and delicious. We ordered the grilled octopus as our appetizer, and it was perfectly cooked. It was tender with a nice char and beautifully plated with chorizo. We asked for the bone marrow to come out with the bone-in ribeye, and I'm so glad we did. Spreading the rich, buttery bone marrow onto the steak made every bite even better. The bone-in ribeye was cooked perfectly with a beautiful crust while staying juicy and flavorful inside. Our server even suggested saving some of the butter to enjoy with the steak later, which ended up being a great recommendation. We also ordered the Wagyu fried rice, which was tasty with the roe. The broccolini was a great side. Can't go wrong with that. To end the night, they surprised us with sparkling grapefruit/champagne, a birthday dessert and cotton candy. I recently visited Alexander's Steakhouse for a birthday dinner and overall had a pleasant experience. The portions were decent and the ambiance was great with warm lighting, comfortable seating, and a refined atmosphere that made the evening feel special. We ordered the 18 ounce ribeye, the cod cioppino, and the mushrooms and bread as sides. Everything was generous in portion, but the ribeye was cooked a little too much for my liking and lacked the distinctive char/fragrance that usually accompanies steaks at steakhouses. The manager was nice enough to exchange the ribeye for us with one that was on the rarer side which I appreciated. That said, I really appreciated the thoughtful birthday dessert they surprised me with. It was a nice personal touch that helped round out the night. I have to say I was a little disappointed, mainly because the steak wasn't what I expected. While it was cooked perfectly medium-rare, it was fattier and chewier than I prefer. On the other hand, the Goddess Salad was a pleasant surprise--absolutely delicious! It was fresh, flavorful, and honestly one of my favorite dishes of the evening. The yuzu cheesecake was divine and the perfect way to end the meal. The venue itself is beautiful and makes a great place for a celebration. We had 18 people, and the private room fit our group perfectly. Parking validation appears to cover only about 1 1/2 hours, so be prepared to pay for additional parking if you stay longer. Service started off strong, but toward the end of the evening it slipped a bit. We requested napkins twice and never received them. For a highly rated steakhouse, it's the small details like that that make a difference. Overall, it's a lovely restaurant for special occasions. Parking: Underground parking shared with other businesses. It's pretty big and easy. Don't forget your validation! Shout out to Frederic! This is the third time that my gf and I have celebrated our anniversary here. It has also always been Frederic to wait on us each time. Not much to say but service has always been above and beyond for us and I love eating here. Alexanders is special for us because it's the time we spend the most eating what we like. Usually we order the A5 kagoshima special, but it was a 20oz which was way too big for us. We opted for a cut of the Miyazaki and Sanuki. They were absolutely delicious. When you've had as much A5 wagyu as you wanted, you know that the small cuts have to be insanely delicious to be meaningful. Every bite was extremely juicy and tasty. The salt plate is always one of the highlights of the night and each one makes the flavour of the meat pop out. Side dishes are also always perfect. They have my favourite mash and also some of the best wagyu fried rice I've ever had. Their bread plate is also the best appetizer, the three butters they bring out always taste fantastic. Alexanders is the go-to anniversary restaurant for a reason and it has always been with every dollar. I honestly wish I could eat here more often but it's always good to save it for a special occasion. Bonus points for Frederic remembering us and our usual orders. My fiance and I came for my birthday on a Tuesday night. Service was slow. It took 40min to get our appetizer (popcorn crab) but when a large table got sat next to us we noticed they got the same appetizer within 15min of being sat. STRIKE ONE. I ordered a Medium- Filet Mignon but it was actually Medium Rare and still quite red through the center. Tasted fine but I refused to send it back and wait another hour just to eat. If you need 45+ min to cook it at least prepare it correctly. STRIKE TWO. They gave a general Happy Birthday card and a free celebratory champagne + dessert which was nice but the dinner took almost 2.5hr. Overall, we won't be coming back. I've never had something that wasn't top tier and always try to experience something new. We always get the hamachi shots and Wagyu rice. My wife and I were looking for a romantic spot to celebrate her birthday and Alexander's Steakhouse was atop of the list. First impressions is that the restaurant is extremely spacious. It's quite the exhibit with the amount of space there is. We were seated immediately as we had a reservation before hand. Another note is that the restaurant is quite clean and atmosphere is very romantic, such a nice start. Parking - Free 90 minute validation for a underground parking lot right by Alexander's Steakhouse. To start, my wife was provided with a birthday card, it was a nice surprise and a very nice gesture. After exploring the menu for a bit, we decided on the Korean Fried Cauliflower, Fried Rice, and the T Bone Steak (22 oz), all to share. Our staff, Jayce, who was absolutely phenomenal, handed us complimentary bread and a watermelon bite (palette cleanser) before our orders arrived, a wonderful gesture as the breads came with various spreads that were super delicious. All bite size and very savory. The fried rice was very delicious, although it was a bit salty, it complimented the Fried Cauliflower dish we got. The sweet bite from the cauliflower mix with the fried rice created a nice sweet and savory taste. Overall, two wonderful dishes that I highly recommend, very delicious. Star of the show of course, is the T bone steak (medium rare, 22 oz) wow this was amazing. You can have the steak come out with the pieces already sliced off the bone, which we decided to. It was just super soft and melts in your mouth instantly. Each bite was so delicious and it was very cooked, would definitely get this again. After the meal, Jayce brought out a complimentary birthday dessert for my lovely wife, it was a absolute surprise and it was such a grand gesture. Very happy with this as we were able to have extra celebrations. Seem like every table gets handed a cotton candy stand after the meal, which was surprising, but it was my first time trying cotton candy and it was pretty tasty, melts instantly. Overall, I was very impressed with the high quality food, each bite of every dish was just astonishing to be honest. I've never had such high quality food before so this was a exceptional experience. On top of this, service was amazing, and a huge props to our server, Jayce, who made my wife's birthday dinner amazing. Ok, ok....... So this experience has now set the new standard for 5 star food experiences for us. Every single dish, cocktail and desert was top shelf. Cocktails: Vodka Daisy, the Omakase and the high castle we highly recommend. The half dozen oysters in yuzu-apple-mignonette was the perfect pairing. No need for horse radish or Tabasco! The popcorn crab was so unexpectedly delicious! We had the F1 Australian filet and bone in rib eye. Best cuts of meats ever, over the top better than anything in Vegas too. The sauces amazing, recommend the Shiso Bearnaise. Top 3 sides for us were the mushrooms, pork belly fried rice and the Kenneth fries, as fry fans, the best fries ever! The complimentary watermelon cotton candy was so good! We tried the Pina Coloda Pavlova deliciously paired pineapple compot, coconut crumble and more. I celebrated an absolutely wonderful birthday here thanks to my husband. With a reservation, we were seated right away at a spacious table, which had a small birthday card for me. Our server, Jayce, was phenomenal. After putting in our order, some warm complimentary bread with 3 various spreads were brought out for us. The breads were fantastic and a great start to the rest of our dinner. We were then surprised with small, refreshing watermelon bites to cleanse our palettes. Our steak was definitely the star of the night. We requested it to be cooked medium rare and it came out perfectly. It tasted very flavorful, juicy, and tender. On the side, we shared some fried rice and Korean fried cauliflower. I was surprised at how delicious the fried rice was. You can tell that it is elevated, not your basic fried rice. As for the cauliflower, they were hot, crispy, and only mildly spicy - absolutely perfect. To end off, I was served a complimentary birthday dessert that included a lit candle. I don't fully know what dessert it was, but I do know that it was very tasty and delectable. The texture was super enjoyable to eat. On top of that, we had some pink cotton candy that was marvelously presented to us. I highly recommend celebrating your birthday dinner at Alexander's Steakhouse, which is only open during the evenings. They will not let you down. 2025 Alexanders! Heard good things about this pasadena restaurant from friends. They were pretty on point with how it is. It's aite but personally I'm not planning on going back unless its a special event. It's Pasadena so you will have to pay for parking and expect to walk unless you take a ride share. We took a Lyft because we wanted to enjoy a couple of drinks. Make an appointment for dinner ahead and expect them to be late to serve you at your reservation time by twenty minutes or hopefully less. Do not expect the hosts to be too friendly either. Luckily you can wait and have a drink at the bar while you wait for them to have your table set up. If you want better service and dont mind sharing the bar with strangers i would suggest to do that. Service overall was not bad! The food came out within the hour and the workers made their rounds around checking up [or one person splashing water on my clothes.] Most of the food was decent. Dont get the fried rice or the oysters. Inside is nice and appears clean. Found it funny & cool they have cotton candy as dessert. We were too full from the food so didnt get to enjoy it. Went on Sunday to try their Prime Rib Dinner menu. Service was outstanding and just being at Alexander's feels elegant. Ordered the Prime Rib special served only on Sunday with a half bottle of Pride Mountain Cabernet. The prime rib melted in my mouth. It was so tender. Dipped in horseradish and au jus was the perfect accent. The brocolinni was a bit salty and some were tough, but charred perfectly. The Caesars salad was very good. We tried their Dine LA menu, and unfortunately this visit was a bit underwhelming for us. The fish dish lacked seasoning and felt quite mild in flavor. Even after adding some salt, it still tasted rather bland. While it was served with a sauce, it didn't quite bring the dish together as we had hoped. Service was also slower than expected, especially considering the restaurant's usual standards. The pacing of the courses felt a bit off, which affected the overall experience. I've dined here before and had a much better experience, so this visit was somewhat disappointing by comparison. My husband and I had a wonderful time when we dined here back in February. We decided to come back for our wedding anniversary tonight and I was utterly disappointed by the lack of care for my Australian Filet Mignon. I asked for medium well and everything was fine until I cut in the middle, it was rare. I stopped eating and informed my waiter. He didn't apologize when he saw it, and offered to take it back to cook it longer. I agreed and asked to pack it to go since it was already toward the end of our meal. When I got home, I opened the box and they didn't even cook it. It was still rare, exactly how it left the table. I'm dumbfounded by what I saw. They were so on top of serving, bringing out the constant stream appetizers, made sure everyone had their drinks, taking out plates away, and constantly asking if we needed anything else. So much appreciated for the service! I also liked that they never rushed us. We had one of the side private room. We stayed a long time conversing in the courtyard area before we head into the dining area and they just said we set the pace however we feel and they serve the main dish whenever we are ready. Food-wise, the star of the show for me was the add-on lobster tail! It was absolutely delicious! The Spanish octopus was tender and had all the different elements to it which was great. The yuzu cheesecake was so good (coming from someone who does not even like cheesecake in general). Came with 2 friends on a Thursday for an early dinner and it was easy to make a reservation online the week of. It was my first time dining here, so I was super excited. It definitely is an overpriced steakhouse, but the food was delicious. Upon walking in, the host did slightly throw me off, as I was expecting her to greet our group with a hello or welcome, or at minimum a smile. She wasn't rude but I expected a bit more for a first impression from a high-end restaurant. We were celebrating a friend's pregnancy, so they brought us out some non-alcoholic sparkling "champagne", which was very kind of them. They started us off with a complementary basket of their bread and butter and their amuse bouche. The bread and butter were interesting with 3 different types of each, and you get one of each type of bread per person. I enjoyed the squid ink bread the most. The amuse bouche was a cube of watermelon topped with cheese and a crispy wonton. I wanted to try their Hamachi Shot, which on their menu comes as a 6 pack for $36. Our waiter let us order just 2 for $6 each, which I appreciated as we didn't want 6. This was delicious and the citrus sauce pairs so well with the yellowtail. For my entree I ordered the 18oz Ribeye Chop medium rare, which was seasoned and cooked perfectly. I also ordered the chimichurri sauce, which paired really well with the steak. It was not necessary, but nice to try for some variety. For my side, I opted for the mashed potato and it was perfectly fluffy and buttery. One minor con was that they forgot one of our mashed potatoes, but they did bring it out quickly after we asked. For dessert, they brought out a fun made in-house cotton candy for the table. Love this place and have been coming for many years, from before we had kids to now dining here as a family and even bringing our dog once for the patio. The people here are what make it truly special. Over time we've met so many members of the team and built real friendships, which says everything about the level of hospitality. The way they take care of my kids makes every visit feel warm and personal, and being welcomed with champagne when we arrive is always a great start to the night. The steaks are consistently great and almost always cooked perfectly. You can taste the quality, especially knowing they age their own steaks in house. The cocktails are also a must and are just as memorable as the food. On warm nights the outdoor patio is one of the best places to sit and relax. DO NOT ORDER THE RIBEYE! Husband and I finally got a kid-free night so we chose our favorite fancy steakhouse to celebrate a romantic solo date and also Valentine's Day. It started amazing...we ordered champagne, oysters, caviar service (baerii delicious!), fig arugula salad (brulee figs FTW!), bone marrow w/ toast, the bread basket... all incredible! Ordered some cocktails, wine and a whiskey flight and I really liked the Slyer's whiskey from Germany! BUT the second part of our dinner was a huge letdown. My husband told out server he wanted his ribeye charred and cooked medium rare, our waiter (who was great btw) confirmed he will get the nicest crust on the outside but when it arrived it was SAD. First of all it was a very THIN cut, fatty and had a boiled look to it. Check my photo. Our server agreed it was not what he asked for and took it back but when it came back it still didn't have the crust we saw on the other steaks and now it was overcooked- so he just ate it. Mushroom medley was a bit sour from too much lemon and the fried rice had too much fish sauce after taste. I ordered lobster as my entree and for $65 I thought it would've been a bigger tail. Flavors were delicious but due to the steak situation my lobster got cold as I wanted to eat with my husband. So our much anticipated dinner date was a disappointment. Alexander's is hands down one of the top tier steakhouses around. We love it here. Their service is above par and they took the ribeye off the bill and gave us a complimentary dessert. But I had to write this honest review to warn others not to order the ribeye. Reading other yelp reviews it seems their ribeye has disappointed a few other patrons within the last few months. We celebrated a group birthday dinner on Valentine's Day, and everywhere we looked there were cozy tables for 2 -- I think we were the only big party! Since Pasadena is a bit of a drive for us, we booked a later reservation (8:00pm) and luckily found street parking. It's free after 6 p.m., except on Saturdays and Sundays. They offer 90-minute validation for the underground lot so I don't think parking would be an issue. The restaurant is in a lovely space right next to CPK. The dining area is spacious, with multiple rooms that make it feel open but not overwhelming. We were greeted warmly by the hostess and seated quickly. As soon as we sat down, the staff offered us a complimentary bread basket with butter -- of course we said yes. The assortment included milk bread, squid ink bread, and a garlic variety (I can't quite remember the last one). All were served warm and paired perfectly with the butter. The portions were generous and most dishes were delicious. My husband ordered the 22oz T-bone medium rare, but it came out closer to a medium. He also expected it to be more tender, but it was unfortunately a bit tough. The other meat dishes, however, were cooked as requested and full of flavor. Although they offered a Valentine's set menu, we chose to order à la carte. The three of us girls shared several dishes while the two guys ordered their own entrées. With all the sides we added, there was more than enough food for everyone to leave satisfied. The beets were well prepared. -Grilled Octopus: Tender and nicely cooked, I really liked the almond garlic crumble. -Mushroom Medley: A hint of citrus really enhanced the mushrooms -- surprisingly one of my favorite sides. -Brussels Sprouts: Crispy and delicious. -Korean Fried Cauliflower: I always feel like Korean Cauliflower is always a bit too heavy on the red chili paste no matter where I get it. It might just be me though because my friends enjoyed it. -Mashed Potatoes -Fried Rice: Sesame-heavy and made with crispy rice. We enjoyed it. -Filet Mignon: Cooked as ordered. -T-bone: Overcooked and not as tender as hoped. Our server did check up on us after we received our meal to see if everything was cooked well but at this time, my husband had not gotten too far into this T-bone. He was disappointed. -Australian Rib Eye: We originally considered the Rib Eye Chop, but when the server heard the three of us were sharing, he recommended this instead (there was a $70+ price difference though). It was well cooked, flavorful, and quite large--we had plenty left over. -Candlelit Caramel Apple: Even though we were stuffed, we enjoyed this dessert. We only ordered one to sing happy birthday to my friend, but the server kindly surprised us with a cheesecake topped with a candle as well. At the end of the meal, we were also treated to house-made cotton candy...made by our server! I'm not usually a fan of cotton candy, but this one was quite tasty. -Caramel Latte: Sweet but not TOO sweet. -"Fatally Yours" Cocktail: Recommended by our server. Tasty but definitely on the sweeter side. -"Dual Citizenship" Cocktail: My friend loved it. I'm not a big fan of mezcal since it's a bit too smoky for me. -Espresso Martini: Well made and nicely balanced. Overall, the service was excellent, the food was plentiful and delicious, and the atmosphere was pleasant without being too loud. Dependable steakhouse with excellent service. Located right across the street from city hall. There is ample street parking available. Located in the heart of Pasadena, it has a relaxing ambiance that is often used for photo shoots. It's pleasant to sit outside to hear the fountains there too. Service is excellent without being overbearing. Food is presented with eye catching finesse. The bread plate was sublime. Reminding me of childhood rolls straight out of the oven. We returned to Alexander's Steakhouse last night and had an exceptional experience. The team was able to accommodate a seating request. Very much appreciated. This is a fine dining restaurant. It would be nice if the patrons didn't show up in shorts and a baseball hat! SMH We were incredibly fortunate enough to have Frederick as our server. I have dined all over the world and have experienced great service in the past. However, Mr. Frederick provides a level of service that is unsurpassed. Alexander's is an upscale steakhouse with a little bit of Japanese influence. Because of that influence, you'll see some wagyu beef on the menu as well. The service is great and feels appropriate with the fine dining experience, but also friendly enough to not feel stuffy. The vibe here feels upscale for sure. Like if you have a carte blanche dinner budget for work or if you're going out for a special occasion. I came here recently with a group of friends/coworkers. We meet up every couple months and choose a new place. I didn't know about this place or too much about it before coming here. But to be honest, I rarely go out to steakhouses anymore. Because we went with the group of friends, we definitely ordered family style, where we ordered a few steaks along with a bunch of sides and other dishes to share. We got: - seafood pasta - blue lake beans - KFC (Korean fried chicken inspired cauliflower) - mashed potatoes - mushroom medley - rib eye chop - Kansas City strip I definitely enjoyed all the sides. I really liked the KFC. The cauliflower had a nice crisp shell on the outside and had delicious sauce well integrated. The steaks were cooked perfectly to order and were very very tasty. As a finishing touch, they gave us some cotton candy as "light "dessert. Very much appreciated. this place is a very good steakhouse and definitely an option to have that special night out. We took a chance in choosing Alexander's Steakhouse in Pasadena to host my wife's Christmas party. Our reserved room was cozy and comfortable. The staff were amazing! The servers were great in making sure your cocktail glasses were never empty and appetizers were being offered to everyone as we socialized before dinner. Dinner service was quickly brought to tables and the Anchovy Cesar salad was perfect to start. I ordered the 16 oz Ribeye steak that was cooked med rare, with a nice crust and fatty seasoned balance. The sides of mashed potato and broccoli complimented the steak as well. Dessert was cheesecake with a fruit sauce puree that finished our meal in a satisfying way. It was our very first time dining at Alexander's Steakhouse and it was such a treat! We celebrated Valentine's Day here and everything was spectacular. Our server, Nick, was great and made our experience so lovely.  There are multiple parking structures near the restaurant. Don't forget to bring your parking ticket so they can validate it for free parking! We checked in and were seated immediately. We've had horrible experiences in the past on Valentine's Day with restaurants overbooking, causing us to be sat much after our reservation time - this was not the case at all. Service was on point and we did not feel rushed.  We ordered the House Bread, Porterhouse Steak with Chimichurri Sauce, Mushroom Medley, and Lobster Mac & Cheese (special for Valentine's Day and is not regularly on the menu). They also brought out their Korean Fried Cauliflower, on the house. EVERYTHING was divine. My favorite side was the Mushroom Medley! Unfortunately, we did not have room for dessert but they brought out complimentary Cotton Candy!  Alexander's Steakhouse will definitely stay on our list for us to check out again. On July 1, 2025, I called ahead to place a special pickup order. When I explained the situation to the hostess, I wasn't entirely sure how it would be received--but without hesitation, she kindly told me they could accommodate the request. When I arrived that evening, I was informed it would be about 20 more minutes to fire up another Porterhouse. I didn't mind waiting. This wasn't just dinner--it was something much more meaningful. At one point, I overheard a conversation in the kitchen about why a new steak needed to be prepared with the bone removed. Before I could explain, the waiter assisting me gently shared that dogs shouldn't eat cooked bones due to the risk of splintering. In that moment, I felt such care and thoughtfulness from the staff. They weren't just preparing a meal--they were looking out for her. That steak was for my shepherd's final meal before saying goodbye. It meant the world to me that the team treated the order with such compassion and attention. When I received the bag, I was surprised with a handwritten card offering their condolences. What could have been just a simple takeout order became something I will never forget. Thank you to everyone who helped make Stormie's last dinner with me special. Food and service were both very good Parking can be difficult since they don't have their own parking lot but there are nearby parking structures and street parking Very dim and romantic inside so perfect spot for date nights! Service was very welcoming, friendly, and attentive. Pricing was on the pricier side so expect to pay $50-$100+ The Grilled Octopus ($30) was pretty good. Very flavorful and delicious. Wish the octopus pieces were slightly bigger but overall, it was 8/10 The Ribeye Chop ($108) was very yummy! Super tender and such big portions! It was enough for both me and my friend.
