I had my work done in June. One week later I needed service and was informed various components were installed incorrectly. The when I asked for the information to apply for my SCE&G rebate they put me off until they paid it out themselves (I don't think they wanted to admit they did not have licensed workers). I was also promised an 800 Home Depot gift card and it's 4 months later with no sign of it. I keep getting the run around when I ask. Also I had to contact them 4 times and it took 3 weeks to remove the old equipment they took out of my house when installing the new unit. One day after I wrote my review on Facebook ARS asked me to contact customer service. On October 1 I spoke to customer service and the lady told me within 24 to 48 hours she would have information for me. It is now October 18 and I still have not heard back from them read more

ATTENTION ALL HARD WORKING PEOPLE!!! Since making the decision to go with this company, I have had nothing but grief. The unit arrived dented and damaged. They replaced it within a week but was not considerate of my time and need to find someone to be at my home while they installed. The manager took it upon himself to schedule a time and ignored my asking him to verify the time with me. A week later I noticed that they did not reconnect my dryer. They also removed a plug from the wall and allowed it to hang free. I have wires hanging everywhere, and the sealing of the unit was tacky and messy. In 2018, I purchased a 2.5 ton Rheem Heat Pump from ARS. I have my unit serviced at the change of each season since my purchase. I was satisfied with the technicians that serviced my unit. On June 6, 2022, the service tech Patrick arrived and checked my unit. I was told that the capaitor was reaching full capacity and it would be in my best interest to replace it because it could stop working at anytime because it had reached 38.??. I asked how much it would cost to replace the capacitor and was quoted a price. The tech did not have a capaitor available and had to get one from the supply store. ARS had a list price of $544.00 for a new capacitor but reduced it $294.00. However, after the unit was replaced, ARS charged me $250.00 for a capacitor that cost about $30.00. I was shocked that a company that boast about being a trustworthy company would ripoff a customer in this manner. Bought a unit in 2013. They said a 2 1/2 ton unit would be fine for the upstairs. 2014 the upstairs unit wouldn't keep up they replaced it with a 3 ton unit. Miscellaneous problems for the next few years. 2019 problems with the downstairs unit. Ended up spending another $1500 on it. In the unit upstairs which was only six years old I was told by the second tech that came out Said it needed replaced. After 7 1/2 years we had over $8000 in both Units. Unfortunately it takes 2 to 4 technicians to figure out The problems. It always seems to be a very expensive fix every time. They do not stand behind their work poor quality. Had it replaced by another HVAC company. They said it was installed incorrectly. They also mentioned to me that it was only a 2 1/2 ton unit upstairs. After checking the paperwork and everything it showed they had put a 3 ton up there but the unit was only at 2 1/2 ton. I highly recommend staying away from this company. When you have a problem they will not call you back. I called the number they supplied me with. Waiting for a response after talking to Robin. As usual with ARS a promised phone call back one way or the other and again as usual no response whatsoever. Again I would like to let everyone know stay away from these people. Stay away from this company. They have technicians that will sabotaged your unit and lie to you to try to sell you a brand new unit. That is what happened to me, but I had the gut feelings that the technician was lying to me. I called for other estimates and found out that the drain line was stopped up. ARS try to get me for over $ 7,000 just for repairs or to pay for a brand new unit. My unit is still under warranty. The technician lied about the warranty on my unit. He said that it was not under warranty. One of the other guys who came to give me an estimate and diagnosis called the warehouse and found out that the warranty on my unit is good for another year. I have been trying to get ARS to reimbursed me for the wires that their technician intentionally cut up, dismantled, and damaged the safety switch on my unit, also to reimburse me for the plan that I took out with them. This company doesn't care anything about their clients/customers. After calling about my complaint no one from the company reached out to me. It appears to me that they could all be in it together. The company knows what their technician did it and refused to make things right with me. I sent them receipts for the damages that their technician did. I sent pictures of wires that the technician cut up and they still refused to reimburse me for the damages that their technician did. My unit was fine before ARS came out. It just had a clogged up line that needed to be unclogged. ARS guy turn off the switch and try to scare me saying that I can get carbon monoxide in my house. He created all the problems in my attic then try to get me to pay over $7,000 for parts that my unit didn't need or try to scare me into buying a new unit. My unit has been working properly since the drain line was unclogged. I just want my money refunded to me for having to have wires repaired, new safety switch, refund from the plan I took out with them etc.. This company can't be trusted! read more

I am so disappointed that I received information that my unit was losing Freon and after listening to the responses to my questions, I realized that it would have been more cost effective to replace the unit. I received their quote and called All-American to get a second quote. After testing of the unit, I was told that because my unit was cooling and the numbers do not reflect a lost of Freon, they would sell me a unit, but it is not needed. Please get a second opinion before accepting their recommendations for any work. read more

I had a "BRAND NEW' unit installed May 2021. The unit briefly ran the way that it was supposed to run for a few months. Well with the seasons changing in August 2021 the temperatures began to drop. So I tried to switch to heat. Well to my surprise the heat on this brand new unit would not work. So I had a technician come by on August 10, 2021 to check out the unit. The unit was repaired and the heat worked as it should have throughout the duration of the winter months. May 2022 the temperatures started to rise in SC so I decided to switch to the AC( or so I thought). Well to my surprise yet again the AC did not work. Called ARS to have a technician come out to check and see what the problem was this time. The apparent problem this time was that there was a coil that needed to be replaced. The technician informed me that there would be a delay because they had to wait for the part to come in. The part finally came in and the technician "repaired" the AC unit. July 2022 I came home from a long day at work to discover that the AC unit was not blowing at all. Called ARS to schedule and appointment to have a technician come out and take a look and see what the apparent problem may be. The technician took a look and informed me that there was a leak and that the condensate line was also clogged, as well as the unit being low on refrigerant. At this point i'm extremely confused and frustrated because how is it possible that a 'BRAND NEW' unit is having this many issues, and conveniently because my unit was no longer under warranty (2 months and some days past expiration) I would have to cover the cost of the repairs. While I understand completely how warranties work, I also understand that something that's supposed to be "BRAND NEW" should last more than a few months to a year. The technician was very polite and helpful and tried his best to get me some sort of help with the issues that I was having. His supervisor however was not so helpful. His supervisor informed me that they would take care of some of the problem but not all of the problem because part of the problem was due to "lack of maintenance" . I tried calling to speak with the supervisor directly to further explain the situation however had no luck. The supervisor ignored my calls 3 times and on the third time of ignoring my call informed the technician that they would reach out to me bright and early the next business day because its was after 5 pm. Id rather sit and suffer in the heat before I ever allow ARS of Columbia to enter my home for "repairs" again. read more

I had ARS replace my duct work last year and I had another company come and evaluate my duct work and it was done improperly. They were not properly insulated to the boots and I could tell you more but it would just be to upsetting to relive it. It started from the very beginning when they showed up and ripped out my duct work and let me with no ac in the middle of August and then later I discovered some were not even hooked up to the vents and the manager was terrible. Never using this company again. $240 to move one wire inside of my thermostat. Technician was not friendly. Charged me a $60 diagnostic fee to tell me my thermostat was wired wrong, yet would not tell me which wire was out of place so that I could fix it. Charged me $187 to move the wire. Requested a service of my AC units. After being rescheduled twice, technician arrived and began looking at my systems. He spent about an hour for two separate systems and then proceeded to tell me that my systems were struggling to keep up and needed to be replaced. Salesman comes over and quotes me $21K for two 2 ton systems. I had a different company inspect my systems as a second opinion and found out that everything was within tolerances and I just needed some Freon. Also discovered that ARS has an "over 8" policy. Basically what that means is if your system is over 8 yeas old, that try to sell you new systems. Bottom line, I wouldn't recommend ARS to anyone. read more

Have required constant nagging and following up. Never installed a flue from the gas furnace through the roof. We could not live in the house until the flue was installed. When I notified ARS of this, their response was that I needed to find someone who could do it because they couldn't. UPDATE: I want to give props to ARS for taking care of the situation in a fast and professional manner. Customer service in big companies are hard to come by, but ARS made sure they made customer service a priority. Again, all ARS employees I came in contact with were consummate professionals. I had a new 4T Rheem 17 SEER installed yesterday. The negotiating/buying experience was smooth with Brian Briganti. The problem was that he didn't include everything we agreed upon on the contract. So when Jason came by the following Monday to install the system, he didn't know UV light was included. I told him about it and he said he'll come by the next day to install it. I called customer service this morning to get an idea when he would come by so I can do my errands and not be stuck waiting for him. She just told me she'll put me in his route today and the dispatch will call prior to coming over. Wow! So I pay $7420 on the system and they forgot to complete it but yet they inconvenience me. I feel like I'm in a car dealership where they're very nice to you, but when you sign those papers the tone changes. All I want to know is an ETA so I can plan my day accordingly. To be honest. I dont even know where to start. When my AC went out in the end of May and the house started to get hot the only thing I thought about was how to get the house cold because of my animals. So after making a few calls and nobody was available ARS answered my call. Their response and appraisal went about without a hitch. Install took a good day with 2 people. Even tho those 2 installers damaged the house the AC got installed fairly easy. Tooke me several calls and weeks to get the wood which they broke to get fixed but more about that later. Anyway. I got all kinds of fancy warranty certifications on paper. Anyway. 1 week after the install I had to call because the AC was not going down to the desired temperature. A service guy came to the house, walked in and changed the temp and walked back out. Never looked at the unit. That didnt fix anything. So we called back and they brought in a "Expert" or so he called himself. He was at the house for about 45 min.... 2 weeks later we had the same issue. Temperature not reaching desired grade. This time we had a local service manager come buy. Long story short. Today is the 3rd of July. Its been 5 weeks with this "new" system and we are about to have our 4th service call with a brand new system. No. This system needs to be either picked up and uninstalled or replaced. I don't know where too start. Make a long story short. My needed hot water heater replace, Rheem contact ARS rooter of Columbia, sc . Front office staff were nice and helpful. November 11/14/22 ARS technician arrived at my residence. Technician get out of his vehicle, I noticed he had a major attitude like he was mad with the world, I'm a good judge of character with most people. He wasn't rude but you can tell he wasn't up to the job. I even offer my help even after requesting two technician removal/installation of hot water heater after finally removing heater. Technician (Matthew) loaded the old hot heater into his van went to home depot for a hot water heater replacement. Technician ( Matthew) returned without a replacement hot water heater. I ask where the hot water heater replacement , technician (Matthew) handed me a home depot store credit card stating that home Depot didn't have model number hot water heater. Matthews stated I'm sorry I couldn't do more man after Matthew left , I thought to myself , i need to ride to home depot myself to inquire about the hot water heater. I speak to customer service, customer service look up my model number there were three models in stock . I wasn't surprise because I didn't have a good feeling about technician (Matthew) . Had a tech come out to check my ac last year. Was told by a company manager (Larry) that they would waive the diagnostic fee if repair was done the same day. Can't remember the techs name, but my boyfriend was present, and I would be taking care of payment for the repair over the phone. The tech gave my boyfriend and me different prices for the same repair (Mine was higher than his estimate - I'm guessing the tech didn't think my boyfriend would call me to tell me what he was given as an estimate, and always charges females more). He also argued with me about the diagnostic fee, which I explained that I was told would be waived. He also tried to sell us an additional $800 part saying it would make our ac work better, when the repair he did had it working fine. read more

Well first off I would have given them NO stars if that was possible. However our unit is just now 3 yrs. old it's a Rheem 4ton package heat pump Model # RQNM-AO48JK015 purchased April 2015, and today we were told that NOW the coil is leaking freon. The first time we had a problem was in Sept 2016 had to replace a Surge Protector to protect the system from future damage. Then Feb 2017 had to replace the Relay Fan, now like I said the coil is leaking Freon. We just got through paying off $6,100.00, now it is costing us $2000.00 for Freon & labor, but the part is free...REALLY!!! I believe this was a lemon from the start. I am SO TICKED OFF. I called corporate and the woman said ,well we have had them go out in less than a yr. I SAID...REALLY...That would have been better, then I could DEMAND they take this one out and replace the WHOLE unit. NOW as is we are STUCK with this LEMON. I AM SO TICKED OFF...I Truly feel WE got ripped off...$ 6,100.00 dollars DOWN the DRAIN...WE WILL Never buy RHeem again, nor will my husband ever be happy with this purchase NOR their customer service...Because all the woman at corporate kept saying is ma'am I know you're angry, but you do have a choice as to get someone else come and put in the new coil, Freon & labor. ARS Rescue Rooter installed my Carrier infinity and did a great job. My installers Jason P. & Andrew B. They were polite, friendly and very professional. They came into my home introduce themselves to me and explain to me exactly what they were going to be doing and went over everything with me that I had ordered to make sure that I was getting exactly what I had paid for. Before getting started they laid down tarps on my floors to protected them from damage. They started the job by removing the old unit that was in my home. Once that was done they began installing the new unit. When the installation was complete they went over how to operate the system and answer any questions that I had about the system. They finished the installation on time and after the installation was complete they cleaned up any debris that had been left over, which wasn't very much because they cleaned up as they worked. After they left my home it was as if they were never here . Except for the cold air that I'm enjoying while wrtting this review. This is a very professional company with exceptionally professional employees. I truly cannot say enough about Jason P. and Andrew B. I have had repair people and installers in my home before but never as professional and as polite and as knowledgeable as these two men were. I must also mention the sales representative that helped me select the right unit for my home. Billy Long was very knowledgeable and professional and did not use high pressure sales tactics to make a sale. If you are considering purchasing a heating and air-conditioning system you would definitely be doing your self a diservice if you did not at least give these guys a chance at getting your business. read more

Less than twenty minutes later the heat pump was up and running. Wayne is a very knowledgeable and skilled technician. ARS is very fortunate to have a man of his caliber in their employ. I was walking through my local Home Depot and a young man asked me if I was interested in an HVAC assessment for $49. Since I was moving into a family-owned condo, I thought it would be a good idea to have it done while it was being renovated. I made an appointment for 2 weeks out and was told that someone would call me the day before. I didn't hear from anyone so the day before I was scheduled, I called to confirm and was advised they didn't have me on the schedule, but would add me for a visit between 1pm and 4pm. I drove to the condo and sat in the lobby until 2. I called the local number and was told that someone was scheduled to come that day but they couldn't tell me when. I sat there for another hour and a half and called again. The customer service rep said she had no way of knowing when they would be out but I was scheduled for that day. I left at 5. The technician that came to service my air conditioning unit, apparently did not check my unit, but tried to get me to purchase another air conditioning unit. It was in a rental unit, and I was not there at the time. He told me via the phone, that the coils were rusted, and that there was no Freon in the unit. I have American Home Shield, and told him that I would contact them first to look at my unit. He, Steven Phillips, tried to pressure me to replace my unit that day, but I refused to let him talk me into this. I contacted AHS, they sent out a service repairer, and I was there this time. Well, the only service that I needed was a drain line needed to be unclogged. My coils were not rusted, it had Freon, and worked perfectly!! I called ARS three times and left three messages for a manager to contact me, but apparently they run from complaints. I am posting this, and have notified the Columbia SC Better Business Bureau of this fraudulent service. I hope that this helps anyone that is considering doing business with this company.
