Her explanation for how to mix warm colors with warm colors and cool colors with cool colors to get vibrant instead of muddied hues was a great tip for us beginners. She has a personable, humorous demeanor that puts you at ease and ready to paint. I planned this as a surprise on my wife's birthday. It's super fun, informative and relaxing. Lucinda is very thorough who taught us how to enjoy painting as beginners. She is a very talented artist and great teacher who instructed us how to mix different colors to make the best outcome. The class is 2 hrs and it went like a blink. I had hoped to celebrate a special occasion that would achieve a delicate balance between sophistication and comfort. Lucinda delivered in spades. She was able to go above and beyond because of the strong communications and organizational skills that she brought to bear in making arrangements, hosting and teaching, and following up. The setup Before the class, Lucinda was able to help me find reassurance. I was not sure which painting class in the Bay Area to choose, and it was her upbeat confidence that won the day initially. She was able to see beyond my logistical questions, and helped me realize that I could not tolerate a misfire. Beyond providing the water color supplies, Lucinda accepted the hassle to arrange a soothing environment and spectacular viewpoint in Sausalito. In hindsight, everything seemed way too easy on my part. Importantly, there were no surprise changes in the scheduling or logistics. The class The class experience itself couldn't have gone better. Lucinda seemed to intuitively find the right rhythm in engaging our class. In terms of painting, this meant she was able to detect who among us needed occasional guidance, and who needed more significant intervention on their watercoloring :) In terms of interpersonal communication, she was a great listener, and a generous, adept sharer of her own life's path. Her journeys from Florida, to a residency in the Caribbean, to the Bay Area, make me appreciate what a gem we discovered. The takeaway I am sharing this in the hopes that others seeking to host a can't-misfire special occasion would make the same discovery that I did. My 12 year old daughter wanted to do a family watercolor session for her birthday, so I found Lucinda on Yelp. The four of us in my family ended up having the most wonderful 2 hour session in her private studio! Lucinda set us up with easels and chairs and paint palettes, had us choose a photo to emulate, helped us with the colors and matted our finished work. At the end of the session, we each were amazed and proud at the art that we created. She is a total pro - she is an artist herself, and has many years teaching, including as the resident art instructor at the Ritz in the Virgin Islands as well as currently the artist in residence at Cavallo Point. I have practically zero artistic skill, and assumed my final product would look like a 2-year old had painted it. Our family hired Lucinda to teach at our family reunion this weekend. I believe out of all the activities that we participated in, this Has to be the highlight! I took my mom and grandma to Cavallo Point this past weekend and as we were checking-in we noticed a Watercolor class being offered on Saturday. We had never done that and thought it could be a fun activity on a rainy weekend. Lucinda was incredible! Right from the start, you could feel her warm, happy and energetic personality. She gave us the basics, provided us with some other artwork for inspiration and off we went. Throughout the class she constantly was helping mix the colors in the right way so that we made the color we wanted and helped with technique and guidance.
