We did two classes over a weekend: Intro class (key chain, valet/bowl and card wallet) on Saturday - about 2-3 hours and Notebook cover (hand stitched) on Sunday about 3-4+ hours (the length of both classes really depends on skill, speed and how many mess ups you/Z have to spend time correcting, oops!, ha!) Started to get tired by the end of day two on Sunday but it was so much fun and to leave with something that I created with my own hands was the cherry on top! Z (Zinaida) was AMAZING! Patient, knowledgeable, creative, sweet, encouraging, just an overall delight and made the time fly by! Her stories of creating, taking classes, sourcing materials, anecdotes and her display items (things she's created, leather samples, etc) added so much to the process and made me excited about starting a journey in leather-making (will I do it, is another question but I was definitely inspired) and also made me excited to take another class with her. The workshop is stocked with so many wonderful tools that you never knew existed that serve functions you didn't know needed a tool and make the details big and small that you may not realize go into leather making--soo fun! Oh and I can't forget! THE VIEW!! The most soothing, gorgeous view in the workshop makes it feel like a dream! I was there on a rainy weekend, with the fog rolling through the trees, sunset peeking over the hillside, beautiful rain clouds, I couldn't have asked for a better setting to create, especially while hand stitching, it was hypnotic in all the best ways! The view is to die for! I have already recommended this class to friends, and now I highly recommend the class to you!

Zimou painted a 11x14 realistic oil portrait as a gift for my wife's birthday. Since it was a…read moresurprise, he had to work off of reference photos that I provided (not the most professional ones, he had to use his skill to fill in some of the missing details) but the end product was amazing. My wife loves the portrait, and it is hanging in our house now, and it will hopefully be there for decades to come, a reminder of a time when we were still newly married and had 2 young boys running around the house. In terms of skill, professionalism, and dedication, Zimou is hard to beat. When I have some more money saved up, I would like to have the kids painted next.

I have had the honor of not only attending the Academy of Art University with Zimou, but also…read morecommissioning him for a painting a number of years ago. My wife and I had the very good fortune of meeting with Zimou several times to discuss the portrait that we were hoping to have him create. Zimou was remarkably caring and quite detailed oriented with how he intended to paint our portrait. He even kept us informed of his development of the painting at every stage as he progressed with our painting. The end result is something we now treasure and consider a masterpiece. Zimou captured not only our likeness with his amazing talents, but he was also able to portray the love my wife and I have for one another. He is one of the most gifted painters we have known, and the art community has loved Zimou's style of traditional realism. The pride Zimou takes in his work is seen with every painting and sketch he completes. Since commissioning Zimou on our portrait, we have been able to acquire several more of his paintings. We are blessed to now call Zimou a dear friend.

I started taking the introductory class a few weeks ago at Sheri's woodcarving studio, and I…read morecouldn't be happier. Sheri has created an enchanting space to learn about woodcarving and to feel part of a mini community. The drop-in structure of the courses is fantastic. The times I have been there, there have been about 3-5 other students of all ages and abilities working on their various projects. Sheri is great about walking around to provide individualized instruction and guidance, and it is also so fun to see what everyone else is working on. The shop is very well organized. Each student gets assigned a work area and a bag with their own set of high-quality tools to use in the shop. I am really enjoying working on the introductory project because you get to practice all sorts of techniques. I will definitely be continuing after I finish the first course!

We had an assistant floating around refilling peoples paints & paper towels. I took a painting course in college and I have a few of my own paintings in my home. I attended this event with someone that had not painted since elementary school. The events are able to please and entertain a broad range of abilities. Everyone was having fun. In-between instruction/demonstration, they kick up the music. Our instructor chose a great playlist. It really put me into a creative groove and had me singing along. You are free to order drinks wherever the event is being held at, just drink responsibly. It was so fun to walk around at the end of the evening and see everyone's execution and interpretation of the piece. Most of the events sell out way in advance, so keep your eyes open!
