    Wedge tables!
    Natalee C.

This is absolutely worth your time and money! My gf and I have been wanting to take a woodworking class for the longest time. I stumbled upon Wood Thumb online, loved all the classes they had to offer and we booked and attended the "wedge table" session. It was awesome! First of all, Chris is a gem - super nice and patient. The shop itself is so cute - such a cool vibe overall. Chris was so knowledgable and really took the time to answer questions and make the experience super interactive and personal. I loved the way this class was formatted - learned a lot and had so much fun! Not to mention, the wedge table is so cute. We each made one and now have two for our home! I would definitely come back here (we've already talked about booking another class) and will be recommending this for team builds for work events as well as fun outings with friends and family!

It was my first time hearing about Woodthumb, and I wanted to try something different during the week. I signed up for their cutting board class, and it was such a great experience! Chris was amazing--he walked us through the basics, explained each step before we did it, and made sure we understood safety. Everything we needed was provided, so all we had to do was show up. The equipment was fun to use and not intimidating, which made learning so much easier. I had an awesome time and will definitely be signing up for more of their classes in the future!

I highly recommend the frame building workshop! I'm amazed at what I built in just a few hours as a total beginner-- a beautiful piece I'll keep forever! Chris was thoughtful, detailed, and answered all of our woodworking questions. It was a ton of fun!

Took a beginner class to make a simple, but elegant wooden cutting board. It was a lot of fun and the finished product looks great! Chris is a great a teacher! Keep sanding!

Wood Shop Class; + Picture Frame Cost: - $150 ish Instructor: + Chris Our group of 4 came in on Tuesday, 12/19 for a 6PM Picture Frame class. Great activity if you enjoy working with your hands. Picture Frame Class is a beginners class, so it all felt pretty simple and straightforward. I felt comfortable and safe working with the tools. Chris goes through safety and handling very throughly, and the tools are all guarded with templates to make certain cuts even safer. I loved learning about easy and hard cuts, different kinds of woods, and how to properly cut wood (speed, motion). Who knew sanding could be so therapeutic? Definitely coming back for a rainbow cutting board class!

The workshop was well organized and very cute!

I've been needing a new cutting board so why not make it myself? Crafted a beautiful cutting board with Chris, which was so fun and rewarding! Really appreciated how engaging & patient he was. I loved that we got to be really on hands on our own throughout the whole process while still having his support. Met some cool people and crafted wonderful things, great time & also makes great gifts. My friend and I are so happy we took this workshop and look forward to more in the future :)

My husband and I wanted to explore woodworking and signed up for a cutting board course. Wood Thumb's owner Chris is very knowledgeable and a great teacher. We were new to woodworking and needed a lot of instruction. We got creative right away - learning about the different varietals of wood and choosing the color scheme for our boards. Next, we learned about all of the power tools and how to use them safely before using them to finish our boards. We can't wait to go back.

We had a fantastic time at a team offsite here with Chris. The space itself is fantastic, and very beginner friendly.

I knew absolutely nothing going in, but Angie was an incredible instructor and took time with each of us to answer questions and help us with the techniques. I've never been very artistic, but this class actually felt approachable and fun even at my skill level, and I can see it being even more rewarding once you gained more experience. Definitely a good intro to a unique form of art, and you get to bring home something cool that you made yourself in just a few hours! I took the class alone, but it would be a great date activity or with friends! There are a ton of cute restaurants and cafes nearby to make a day of it! So glad I took this class!

For a long time, I've made art but struggled with feeling like what I was doing was really creative. Michael, the owner and instructor at the studio, has transformed the way I think about the creative process through the avenue of figure drawing. His classes are the most meaningful part of my week. If you're looking for an instructional class focused on technique for drawing more accurately, this may not be the right place for you. Instead, the classes offer a new connected way of living--engaged with beauty both around you and internal to you. So much of the class is about unlearning not just how you draw but also how you value the creative process. It is the most challenging class I've ever taken and there's no amount of brute force I can apply to get it other than trusting the process and the instructor. Nonetheless, as frustrating as it is, there's nothing else I do that is more rewarding. It takes a lot of effort to strip away your aesthetic value system to get at the core of what you find beautiful, but if the result is a more meaningful existence, then that investment is priceless. Some practical aspects of the instructional sessions. Michael strives to provide only the best models to inspire you not to capture their poses but to feel something in yourself. The medium is stick charcoal and newsprint is available cheaply at the studio. The class is a lengthy commitment of 20 weeks of three-hour sessions but is highly structured and builds on successive lessons. Michael also allows you to make-up classes. Although there is a high upfront cost, for the hours of instruction and model time spread out over the weeks, it's a steal.

He repeatedly was rude, condescending, and belittling to me when I asked for help (umm... who's gonna tell him it's a school?!?) When I texted and emailed about my issues, Adam ignored me. No response (and have the receipts for it). The class itself was fun! We basically just messed around with clay for the 1.5 hours, layering cut outs and playing with texture. Baking took 30 minutes, and then assembly another 30. There were tons of colors, shapes, and tools to try out. There was also a birthday party there, so if you're interested in an event, this seems like a good place. Sophie let us know that we're allowed to get drinks / snacks from next door, then bring it back to eat in the lobby area by the window. The workshop seems like a lovely community space. Seems like they have events every month - Nov they'll have a free zine workshop and in December they'll sell mini wreaths. There's tons of other artsy things in there. My one suggestion for the class - it would have been lovely if there had been more pliers for assembly. I think that the shortage was the main bottleneck. The earrings look simple to put together, but because we were new and the pieces seem so fragile, it took us quite a bit of time.
