In the end, ART Catering came through and provided us with exceptional service for our wedding. However, from the beginning, I felt like they were difficult to work with and did not communicate well at all. Whenever we would correspond via email, the responses we received were not clear and did not answer our questions. I was told that they do not typically send the contract until the initial 25% deposit has been made... but why would anybody make a deposit without reviewing the contract first? Made no sense to me. In an attempt to finalize the menu so I could submit the final payment, I reached out to the company three weeks before the wedding because I had not heard from them. I was then told they could not get any crabmeat for months due to the shortage. . . The crab meat shortage was not in their control, but if they had known for months that it would be difficult to source crab, they should have reached out to notify me so I could make menu changes accordingly. Crab was in one of our entrees and our appetizer. They were able to accommodate a last minute change when we decided to add desserts, so we appreciate their flexibility on that! We went with mini cheesecakes, cannolis, chocolate covered strawberries, and mini cookies. All were delicious! Three days before our event is when I finally received our finalized menu and the menu was INCORRECT. I had been asking for this menu for weeks and when they finally submitted it to me, it was incorrect. Luckily, it was able to be fixed and the menu was correct in the end. I was told by someone in the office that they had tried contacting me by phone the week before to finalize the menu . . . I had no missed calls or voicemails or email correspondence from them at all. Despite the difficult correspondence, the wedding catering service, could not have gone more smoothly. The caterers arrived on time and were very kind and professional. The food was delicious, the buffalo cauliflower bites were a hit! We also went with the chicken at the ritz, flat iron steaks, and vegan mushroom ragout over polenta for our buffet entrees. We got many compliments on the food! If it weren't for the way things were handled prior to the wedding, I would give them 5 stars for their service. However, the lack of communication throughout the entire process was a total disappointment. read more

We hired ART Catering for the food and set up for our wedding on Ocean Isle Beach. We scheduled a tasting a couple months in advance, and Terry was great to work with. We had picked a handful of items from their menu to try and they included a number of other items for us to taste that they thought we'd like. She was very accommodating to make sure that we got what we wanted. They provided the food, servers, a bartender, as well as chairs, tablecloths, plates, napkins, silverware, and cups for the ceremony, and benches and a chuppah for the ceremony on the beach. On the day of the wedding, there was a slight mix-up with the place settings. There was a typo on the contract that we had overlooked indicating that we were going to provide plates and cups, etc. My wedding planner interfaced with the catering staff to smooth the issue out, but by the time the reception started, ART's staff had all the cups and place settings that we had originally discussed. The food was great, and I got a lot of compliments on it from our guests. They also packed up all the leftovers, which we ate during the week that we were at the beach house. I used ART Catering for both of my children's graduation parties. Not only was I happy with the planning process but the quality and quantity of the food was outstanding. I used Art Catering for my husband's surprise party and I along with my guests were very disappointed since they had come with a good recommendation. We ordered the flank steak which was over cooked, the chicken which was swimming in sauce ( tasted good but looked very unappealing), country string beans which were tasteless, grilled vegetables and the mashed potatoes which were very good. There was not enough food the 27 guests even though I ordered for 27. There were not even 27 chicken breast even though the total bill was $600 for two full trays of food, one full tray of mashed potatoes and only two half trays of vegetables. I spoke to the person in charge and was told that they would make this right only to find out that they decided not to get back to me even though I was given a day that they would call. This is an overpriced catering hall that does not back its product and has terrible customer service. read more

Had an event in my home. Wish I had a little more assistance getting recommendations for the menu....especially since the caterer is the expert on their products. When I booked the event, I was told I would be contacted by Terry to discuss the layout etc......this never happened. When I made final payment on the event, I was told tables would be delivered 24 hours in advance...this never happened either. Food was average....some of the warm appetizers were not warm. Paid for two staff to work the event, one staff had to leave twice(for a period of 15 minutes each time) because there were issues with another event that they were catering the same night. BEWARE of ANY contract from ART Catering/Terry Bland!!! READ the contract VERY carefully and DO NOT send a deposit unless you know that there is NO way you will have to cancel for ANY reason. I wanted to use ART catering for a wedding on 9/18/2011. I started an initial conversation with Terry Bland on 2/21/2011. 2 phone calls and 3 emails later I signed a DRAFT proposal on 3/10 - sent in the 10% "non-refundable" deposit of $1016.52 (even though there is a Clause 9 on the contract that also states "Cancelation and Refund policy: ART Catering will assess cancelation and refunds on a case-by-case basis." My check cleared on 3/24 but on 3/28 (four days after she got the deposit) I sent her an email stating that I had to cancel the wedding as I was promoted to a job that I could not pass up and with the hours required, and travel and ultimate moving to another state, the wedding was off, and asked her to consider Clause 9, regardless of the nonrefundable statement as it was OVER SIX Months from the wedding and no material had been/was purchased. I followed up on 3/30 with a call to discuss further. What she said to me that day and what was said in court were extremely incorrect and false. Do not have any cancellation discussions with her without legal counsel or witnesses! I sent her 4 additional emails, one certified letter and a call to try to solve this professionally and peacefully, willing to pay her for any time spent on the 3-page canned proposal. Needless to say she never had the courtesy or professionalism to get back to me, in any form of communication, forcing me to take her to Civil Litigation Court as I felt it was HIGHLY Unfair and unjust for her to keep my entire deposit with the limited work and time spent on my project. DON'T be embarrassed like me in trusting this woman - I lost in court because I signed the DRAFT proposal - it seems your signature becomes "contractual obligation" and per the judge's ruling, your signature will lose every time regardless of any clauses in proposals/contracts or not - and regardless of reasons of cancelations the caterer has the right to keep your money, any money you send, no matter what. With ART catering, be sure to have some amendments of your own before you trust this caterer with your money, such as list "death, deployment, hurricanes, job changes, dismemberment, anything" that will get your money back if something comes up in your life you cannot control, because in "my opinion" Terry Bland with ART Catering doesn't care about any choices you have to make in life, as long as she gets to keep your money and with the generic Clause 9 as listed above, she could use any reason to not give you your money back. She'll bring in her silver tongued attorney when her integrity is questioned versus trying to do the right thing. I would suggest you have your own attorney review any contract that comes from her/ART Catering, prior to signing it, or better yet chose a caterer who you can trust i.e. they have the capacity to be compassionate, understanding, and caring, and one that doesn't look at you like a $ sign read more

Art catering was a pleasure to work with for our wedding. We used them for tables, chairs, linens, and appetizers. I felt their prices were affordable and the staff was very friendly. Rachel was my point of contact and I really appreciated her honesty and help me make decisions. She was very prompt with responses and knowledgeable. I was nervous being cross country and not tasting the food beforehand, but our guests raved about how good the food was! Our guests really liked the coconut shrimp and chicken pineapple kabobs. I guess it was so good the food was gone before we could even walk to get some. I also really appreciated the servers and bartender. They worked really hard to make sure our guests were happy. Rosemary and her daughter really stuck out in my mind as they helped us decided how to set up things and where to put our cake. I also appreciated how they picked up and threw away all the trash at a local dump that way we didn't fill up all our beach house trash cans. I highly recommend this company as I feel they are reliable, honest, and hard working people. read more
