A really cool down to earth coffee shop. Good coffee. Interesting interior. Not too busy in the morning!

This was sitting in my drafts from awhile ago…read more.... Tin Angel in Salt Lake City, a cute cozy homily setting of a cafe with lots of vegetarian options. Stopped here on our way to the Utah Capital Building - weather it was to or from I cannot remember. The first impression was warmth- it was chilly outside with the snow and the gloom that comes with it, and this place felt like a little cabin in the middle of nowhere- not exactly nowhere, but there were very few places that were open for food, and fewer still with vegetarian options, so really , this felt like Joseph Smith was smiling down on me ;) ...... no, no, not being religious, just remember the feeling of blessed and ...'Oh my god! we found an open restaurant with veg food'.... We were famished, so whatever pics I have is before the food arrived, as after we were engrossed it gobbling it down. It took a while for the food to arrive, as everything was made inhouse, fresh and probably we were the only vegetarians there that day. The order consisted of Moroccan Cauliflower, Grilled brussels sprouts and customized Angel Hair pasta. They were more than accommodating and sensitive to our needs, which I very much appreciated......see...blessed..... Salt Lake City is special for me, as this was the first place I lived at length when I first came to US on work many years ago. That time I was just visiting. This experience made my return to reminisce all the more worth it. If you are in the area, do stop by. If I remember correctly, they are open for longer hours during summer months.

Because it was so hot out I went for a strawberry salad and asked to substitute steak instead of the crispy chicken. The steak was marinated well and cut very thin so I was able to mix it with the salad well and have steak in every bite. The portion of salad was large and filling, but not uncomfortably so -- just right. The strawberries, greens, and everything else were very fresh and delicious, and I loved the homemade strawberry vinaigrette which wasn't too thick and not watery at all, just a little tangy and not too sweet. The vibe of the place is pretty fun with a free vintage motorcycle museum to walk around a bit in. I took a couple laps around the room before headed out. Overall, atmosphere and staff were very pleasant and I'd definitely like to drop in again and try some breakfast items.

We came in about an hour before closing. Planned not to order anything too complicated since it was a late lunch for us. There were two other tables occupied which another server was tending too. Right off the bat it felt like we were being rushed by ours. The server was a little high energy and was zooming around the dining room. Very adamant about wrapping silverware but our drinks (waters) went empty for a while. I think the atmosphere was the best part. While we waited, we went to check out the motorcycles. The meals we ordered did lack some flavor which was a bummer.
