1 star - Racially profiled, disrespected, and stunned by how bad it was. As a Midtown local who loves supporting neighborhood spots, I was absolutely stunned by the experience my wife and I had at Art Nomad on 7/11. I don't typically leave reviews, but this was too shocking to stay quiet about. We had a 10:05 PM reservation and weren't even acknowledged until 10:35. Our server, Kyonne, literally brought out cake for another guest - and a slice for herself - and stood eating it with the guest sitting next to us, before ever offering us water or saying a word to us. When she finally came over, she was unbelievably rude and dismissive, then claimed the restaurant was out of every item we tried to order (multiple drinks and apps). We stayed calm and in good spirits, even when she gave my wife major attitude. I politely asked, "Hey, did we get off on the wrong foot? Or did I miss something?" and her response escalated shockingly fast - she got in our faces and, when I asked if she always treats guests like this, she said: "people like you." She also became extremely hostile to my wife (who was sitting in silence as I spoke). The only reason I'm not giving zero stars is because of David Lee, who took some accountability, comped our drinks, and personally made sure we got a drink on the house (50 min later after arguably the most horrendous service). He knows this staff member (Kyonne) has been a problem, and I respect how he handled it. That said, I'll never return to Art Nomad. I'm a tourist so I'm not sure if this was normal, but my wife and I were able to walk up at 430 pm on a Saturday and get a table on Memorial Day weekend no problem. Servers were at tentative, laid back and not pushy at all. It was a beautiful evening, and we had a great time. You usually need a reservation well in advance to get a seat at the Roof Top bar, but our party lucked out and was able to be seated after waiting for less than 5 minutes. The views were beautiful; you get a great view of the Empire State Building with a see through floor. There was a good amount of seats and there was a very chill vibe and nice ambience overall. Drinks were the standard NY prices; I had an All Night Long Cocktail and split a Frozen of the Day (Which was Watermelon flavored when we went) and a Montauk Wavechaser IPA. Some spectacular views of midtown area, although it is somewhat restricted view wise since there are quite a few really tall buildings in it's vicinity that obstructed it's view. If you make a reservation, note that there's a reservation cancellation fee. This is a rooftop in Soho so it has nice views of Jersey and kind of the Empire State Building. To get there, you have the enter the hotel it's a part of and take the elevator up. Elevator is on the right side when you enter the door. There are two or three unisex bathrooms which are quite large outside the bar. To order, you have to scan the QR code and enter your table number. From there, you just buy and checkout whatever drink you want. They say they have a two drink minimum, but they don't enforce it. Each drink is around $20. Soho Frose - kind of like a slushie and has a light wine taste. Comes directly from the machine you see at the bar so it's pretty quick to get. I tried my friends cocktails as well and they were pretty good. Nothing spectacular though. Drinks come out about one at a time and took pretty long. read more

Unreal experience here. We tried to go to the midtown location, and called and DMed them multiple times before to confirm we could walk in. We get there, and it's closed for a private party. Then, we go to this location in NoMad and see that there's open reservation for every hour so don't think we need one. We get to the hostess and she says there's no reservations and we show her resy and she says oh we forgot to block it off let me put your name on the wait list. We spent 15 minutes standing there trying to find another restaurant to go to, we finally leave and make it 2 blocks and I get a text from resy that our table is ready. We get there and I say I got a text our table is ready the same hostess goes "really?" Then tries to tell me that it wasn't them who texted me. That I faked the text from RESY that I have thousands of texts from. I get another text that we have 15 minutes to get the table, even though I was accused of faking the text. I'm almost 30 and have ate at the top restaurants in NYC, this establishment is a joke. The hostess made it harder to go here than carbone and then was extremely rude. I was taking a study break at the NYPL at Bryant Park and ended up walking around nearby the Arlo. I had heard about Chef Talde's ice cream pop-up and decided to treat myself when a stranger at the lobby told me about the rooftop bar above us. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful and directed me to take the stairs to the second floor, where someone else would access an elevator for me. The Heights is not the biggest rooftop bar around, but because I came early afternoon on a Friday, there was still plenty of seating available. There's a small section where the floor is made of glass, but I would have been more impressed if the entire floor was transparent instead. Our chips arrived in a greasy brown paper bag stapled shut. The dip was served in a plastic container like you would buy from the supermarket...or Walmart. The chips were the hardest rocks I could ever imagine eating. We closed out our bill to the tune of $60 dollars and left within 15 minutes of arriving. We then proceeded to another rooftop bar that had an amazing direct view of the Empire State Building, amazing drinks, and delicious appetizers... for less money mind you. 230 rooftop bar was packed and lively. This Art Nomad was not. I can see why. Food trucks along the way had better presence and better taste. Check out the pictures. I really can't articulate how mid this experience was. Literally what you see in these photos is what we paid $60 dollars for. There was a $9 service charge for I don't even know what! I didn't have any kind of service worth charging an additional fee that's for damn sure. The 230 rooftop bar with the direct view of the Empire State Building didn't even have a random service charge! No other restaurant we went to had this. I should have asked for a complete refund immediately but we just wanted to escape the disappointment as soon as humanly possible (*sidenote* We were on vacation and expected to spend a good amount of money. I went here for pre-dinner drinks with my husband on a Saturday in August around 6:30pm. We were able to get a table and the view is amazing! You are almost right next to the Empire State Building and under our table was plexi glass so you could see down to the street which was 31 floors below. We had a "girls just wanna have fun" cocktail which was like aloe and mint and cucumber and then a watermelon cocktail that I think was called "it must be summer time" or something like that. Both drinks were very good. They were very small though and $21 each. They also charge a 20% service fee and tax so our bill for 3 total drinks was $82. Friend made reservations for his birthday here. When you walk into the hotel lobby there's someone by the sweets case to the left to check you in and let you up. They don't let too many people up at a time so it's nice, spacious and quiet here. Really limited and overpriced 'food' menu that's really just dips/snacks. There is also a glass floor where you can see below, but the view isn't that great; you literally just see a street with cars parked below. Drinks are pretty good... the frose was actually really good, I was surprised. The elevators to the hotel are pretty neat too. It's a touch screen and you select where you're going and it takes you there, no pushing buttons once you're inside the elevator at all, so I guess it's sanitary? You better believe I was up there photoshooting the crap out of my frosé. Given the setting, it just seemed like the thing to do, I guess. I was staying at Arlo and didn't realize they had such a sweet rooftop setup until right before checking in. The last time I stayed there, it was November so rooftop drinking was a no-go. There's plenty of space, comfy seating, and a nice little cocktail menu. I started with the frosé - mostly out of curiosity because I keep stumbling across it at different venues - although frozen drinks aren't really my thing. Given that it was humid as hell, this was delightfully refreshing and a wonderful choice. Next up, I had the pineapple mule which was alright, despite not having much pineapple flavor. So happy to know this is here for the next time I stay at Arlo! read more

3.5 stars A very unique rooftop bar experience! This is the only rooftop in NYC I know of that has a section with a glass bottom. I only wish the scene down below was more than an empty lot, a street, and trash cans. BUT I think it looks better at night with all the lights, and then you can ignore the trash. The rooftop area is quite small, but there are bar tables and some couch areas. Seating is usually reserved though. Be careful on hot summer days though because there aren't really any areas of shade. The view is amazing!! AWESOME view of the empire state building. Drink prices are your normal NYC rooftop bar prices, aka $14 for a small cup of frose. But that's expected! The only food options are chips and salsa or guac. Casual roof top bar/lounge with a relaxed atmosphere and humble crowd. Nobody was outlandish and everybody was respectful of each other. Seating was quite limited yet nobody was hogging space and people created space for other patrons who wanted to sit. I hope this type of crowd sticks around. The views are quite nice. You can see the empire state building from the northwest corner of the patio and you can see brooklyn and queens from the southeast corner. The seating is comfortable and the drinks are reasonably priced compared to other rooftop bars in Manhattan. I had a beer for $8. I'm looking forward to returning. Visited The Heights on a rainy Monday afternoon with my boyfriend. We booked a room at the Arlo and decided to visit the rooftop. We stepped out of the hotel for lunch and on our way back to the hotel it rained really really hard for like 20 minutes. We decided to visit the bar on the 2nd floor of Arlo NoMad since they shut down the roof top, they reopened pretty quick. We brought our drinks from the bar up to the rooftop, they were transferred from glass to plastic. All of the furniture was soaked for obvious reasons, so we just chilled by the bar. My boyfriend and I are big wine lovers so of course we had to try the Froze. The froze was really strong, but still tasted really good. The views from the rooftop were amazing. From the bar you can see the Empire State Building. I really tried to get one of those cool pictures on glass floor but the rain made it really slippery, and I didn't want to fall.
