Their drinks are well served and they offer a creative menu, our favorite cocktail was called full of gold. small bites are also available but we didn't try them in this occasion. We came in with no reservation last Saturday night and the hostess was a lovely person who was able to accommodate us within just a couple of minutes, first at the bar and about 30 minutes later we were assigned a table. I also loved how nicely decorated the patio area was. It's so different than the inside - brightly lit and airy. They also give you blankets when you sit out there so you won't be cold. this location is a bit different than their uptown location, it's more low key and simple. we didnt have reservation but it was easy to walk in without too long of the wait, i was told a 30mins wait but was able to get in in 15mins. There's a large selection of cocktail that looks very interesting, i tried two different cocktails but still didnt find the perfect one for me. We came here after dining for more drinks. I made the reservation for 10:30pm and we didn't make it there until 11pm. This place has no phone number, so I had to send an email to the address provided in the reservation that we were running late. When we arrived, I had to ring the bell, and the host with an IPad answered the door. The hostess confirmed our online reservations, and we were seated immediately. The interior of this place has a speakeasy vibe that was welcoming. To ask for service, you have to ring the bell to get the server, then ring the bell again after placing the order, and after paying. Everyone had a great time and enjoyed their cocktails. My friend got the coffee mocktail, and I got the Andean Explorer because it had pisco. By the time I got home, the cocktail I had didn't sit well with me. In addition, I inquired about the pisco I ordered, and the server didn't know. Plus, once we receive our check, the same server is so eager for payment and tip (we felt rushed). Despite the little irking nuisances experienced, I'd still like to return to definitely try the Lychee cocktail and other mocktail drinks. read more

I've tried many times to get into Raines Law Room... Buzzed the bell, waited, someone took our number and said they will call us back and that callback came just too late (the whole idea created mystery of the inside which grew stronger). Surprisingly on this visit, we were ushered in right away - and oh what a treat! The inside is selectively lit by wall sconces, velvety couches and golden picture moldings give way to warmth all around us (or at least the room we were in). As instructed, we pulled on a buzzer to usher in our server. I was in the mood for something-gin, the waiter recommended a cocktail which was delish. Reflecting on the visit - all the waiters seemed to move in a mechanical way, I'm literally now thinking this - the curiosity starts at the door entrance and continues after exiting. This place has been on my want-to-go list for a while and I was excited to finally check it out. Four of us came here on a Friday night around 9pm and sat in four armchairs around a mini glass table. We racked up a decent bill just ordering about 2 drinks each and unfortunately, I can't say it was worth it. Drinks looked unique on paper but didn't leave a lasting impression for any of us. I chose the Osaka Buck which had a kick from the ginger and spicy honey; we agreed that was the best one. I followed up with the Andean Explorer and left it half finished because no flavor was really popping out to me. The group also got Evening Tea, Corsica Crush, 41 Carat, a some Pinot Noir. We stupidly threw down $10 for some Old Bay Chips that came in the smallest serving possible. Service was meh. One friend that is quite discerning with cocktails asked a server about some of the syrups and liquors used, and his answers were terse and uninformative. We were also told a couple times that we would have to give our table up soon to the next party, so we didn't feel particularly welcomed. We spent about $175 here. I would consider giving this a second chance but overall pretty underwhelmed by this visit. read more

This place used to have a worthwhile vibe and menu that delivered what it said. The gimmicky pull chain for service was always efficient and cool, but now it just creates more problems and issues. The service: took forever to have someone respond to our request to order drinks only to have them deluminate the light and drop off water and say someone will be there soon to take order. No one came. Ended up re-pulling the chain and finally someone took our order. Ran into similar issues when trying to close out check, which also got frustrating and confusing when two other parties in our little nook had pulled their chains for the bill. The drinks: I would have given some benefit of the doubt (possibly off night) if the drinks actually were good. They were not. Ordered from the section that "has a kick" and neither drink had a "kick" let alone peppery notes. Mainly tasted of drink mix and no actual alcohol that could be enjoyed. Had barely half the drink and decided it was time to leave and not waste time here. Avoid at all costs. Cool for the pictures and ambiance, but everything else was dreadful. read more

We were seated in the back room, which had a very cozy and quiet vibe. Really appreciated actually being able to hear each other speak lol. That said, there's more energy around the bar area if that's what your looking for. Our server was nice and had good rec's. The menu is large but the drinks are very unique, for better or worse. I had an up gin drink first, which was a little too sweet. My friend had a rocks mezcal drinks that was pretty good. Walking through the bar to where our group would eventually be seated, I felt like I could have been walking through some movie full of intrigue. Ironically, our group was actually seated in the back, in a new patio area, which is in contrast with much of the rest of the bar, but still in a good way. The bartenders and servers are friendly and attentive, and they enjoy helping you find a cocktail that you will love when you're unsure what you want or feeling creative. The bar snacks are quite good too, but beware the spiced mixed nuts, as they have a surprise kick at the end! While I usually frequent several cocktail bars in one night when I'm out for drinks in NYC, I feel like Raines should be either the last place I visit in the evening, or maybe the only one. Raines Law Room is a secret classy place where entry is only provided if you make a reservation beforehand and if you are brave enough to ring the small doorbell of a quaint entrance. The interior is so quaint and evokes a old-time vibe. The cocktails are named with charm - I highly suggest asking your servers for a recommendation based on what you feel like having on your night out. They know drinks not written on the normal menu and can find you a drink more tailored to your taste buds. Upon their recommendation, I got the Hello Lovely, which was absolutely lovely - gin and strawberry with a hint of lemon - sweet without an overpowering alcohol aftertaste. We had a great time at this speakeasy - only thing they could do better maybe is be a little quicker in responding to our call for a server. But other than that, a fantastic classy place for cocktails if you can manage to snag a reservation and get you and your party in. read more
