Clean and bright with stocked shelves bulging with colorful products of all sorts (sans the shelves that await their turn) the store also boasts some very congenial and helpful staff. Shopping here for a few odds and ends for my crafting avocation was a joy. Bes sure to use your Michaels App for coupons. It can save you a bunch of $$.

This was my favorite shop in Seaside, due to its eclectic mix of art store, art gallery, toy store,…read moreand novelty shop. Really, it's because of the snarky socks. I stood there for 15-20 minutes reading all the snarky socks before meandering around to look at the art, art supplies, and toys. It was the socks that brought me back the next day. I knew i had to get at least one pair, but couldn't really decide. The proprietor who was sitting behind the counter the entire time that I was in the store on both days, told us that they were quite popular. She said that quiet little old ladies love to come in and buy the ones with curse words on them. And we knew they were popular since they were sold out! I decided on two pair: "Shoot for the moon. If you hit Mars, Bonus." and "Screwing Up is Part of the Program". I was quite tempted by the floral print with a hammer that said "Pretty Hammered." It's a charming shop with a friendly proprietor and quite a mix of product offerings.

We were able to make a reservation just the day before online, but this availability may vary during more peak seasons. We were there during the shoulder season. The kids class (Shard Shop Original Art Class) is really reasonably priced and they had a blast creating their own piece of art! Strange, but their only other location is in New Orleans. We showed up on time for our appointment and did not feel rushed. There was one party leaving and another party was there with us, so my kids had their own table full of supplies. They have sample you can base your art off of, or you can freestyle it. Everything was included! Note that it takes a little over 24 hours for your art to cure so don't plan this the day before or the day you are leaving the area. They can always mail it to you, but there is a cost associated and it's more fun to pick it up yourself.
