I scheduled a tailoring appointment with Nick, the owner, about a month ago after reading the great Yelp reviews. Although there are several tailors close to me (I live in the Gold Coast), I really enjoyed that Peter Field put all of its prices online. Transparent. Initially, it was worth the trek to be able to schedule an appointment and know, generally, what the prices would be. With the beginning of a law-firm job on the horizon, I had a smattering of older suits, blazers, and sport coats that I knew needed tailoring. So, I called Nick up and basically asked if we could go through it all and see what could be salvaged. Nick accepted the challenge. In sum, I think I've purchased every non-custom-tie service Peter Field offers - - i.e., the entire tailoring menu. I've had five (six maybe, I lost count) blazer/sport coats and five off-the-rack suits tailored with Peter Field. All look truly fantastic now. Now, I have a couple of shirts in with Nick for slimming. Overall, the pricing is really fair. I am totally positive you could probably find something cheaper at your local dry cleaner, but Nick and his crew will take the time to have you try it all on, show you what they can do, and suggest ways to make it look better. If you're like me - - you know barely enough about fashion to know that something looks a little off but not enough to identify exactly what it is or what to tell a tailor - - spending an hour with someone who knows what they are doing puts your mind at ease after handing over your entire work wardrobe. Considering that you get that individual attention, the prices are definitely reasonable. All in all, I'm a little nervous that Nick's custom-tie business will blow up and he won't do tailoring anymore. That's how good it is. read more

I love dressing well but what I love even more is getting great deals on awesome clothes, and Peter Field is the perfect partner in crime! If you go shopping at all, I bet you've had moments when you see some great pieces on a very steep sale because there's something slightly weird about them / the store has run out of most sizes, or there are times when you see something that would be otherwise perfect IF ONLY it was slightly different. I used to pass up on these things, until I discovered Peter Field. They are capable of SO MANY THINGS to make your wishes come true, and they always do it impeccably. Thanks to PF, now I can pick up a pair of normally $200 pair of jeans for $40 knowing that I can get them altered for $25, and be super smug about how much money I just saved while getting a pair of jeans that will now fit perfectly. There's also this time when I fell in love with a blazer but hated how the cuffs were - no matter, Ben helped me transform the blazer into a 3/4 sleeve one and now I have a perfect summer suit jacket sans those horrid cuffs. The best time was when I picked up a $2000+ Prada dress for $300 as the chest was way too small for most ladies to fit into (cough cough the stereotype of the high fashion preferring women with no secondary sex features) and Sage helped me let out that dress for a very reasonable fee. At first I was a little concerned as the dress is made of a very delicate satin, but when I got the dress back I couldn't have been happier. Really wild shop. Has the mix of an old school tailor shop with innovative styles. I purchased a number of the microfiber pocket sqaures and I am having them make me a suit for my wedding as well as custom tie and pocket squares. My favorite thing about Peter Field is their transparency. They took the time with me and my precious new suit to explain different fits, fabrics and the alteration process. When I left, I felt that my suit was in good hands and educated for the next time I have to get something altered. If you've ever been to a mechanic, seen them fumble with your car and then hand you a bill--you've been frustrated by your lack of knowledge. A silly part of me tinkers with the idea of learning mechanics sarcastically. Mostly when I'm eyeing that bill from the questionable shop. I didn't want to feel this way anymore, especially when it came to my new suit. All my questions were answered and explained with the kind of attention and detail that only someone who really cared about what they were doing could provide. More than that, The people at Peter Field showed me around their space, introduced me to their tailors when I walked to their bathroom and made every gesture to make me feel welcome and valued. I can't imagine a better tailoring experience than at Peter Field. I got my tux tailored here for my wedding and I got compliments the entire night that the tux looked like it was made just for me. They did such a great job I came back to get a suit tailored, and I know I'll keep coming for anything else I need tailored in the future. Their prices are not unreasonable either. I also bought pocket squares from Peter Field for my wedding party, and Ben pointed me to a great embroidery shop in Bucktown to do the embroidery, which turned out beautifully. I was in a big bind. I got invited to an event last minute, and none of my suites fitted me. So I had to go out, and purchase a suite. The fit was a little off so I needed to get it altered. After looking around my area, I saw Peter Field got some solid reviews. I took the suite in on a Wednesday, needing it altered by Saturday. I didnt think they would be able to get it done for a reasonable price BUT they told me they would have it done for me by friday afternoon! GREAT SERVICE. I have had two bad experiences with Peter Field. I've had to return pants to be altered again because they were not altered properly and one pair still has ripples in the hem. Secondly, the turnaround is exceptionally long. I had to proactively call them after six weeks because I had not been contacted regarding my suit alterations. A high-quality product and superlative customer service earns at least five stars in my book! I bought two ties from Peter Field, and they make perfect Double Windsor knots. The fabric quality is great, and the craftsmanship is very high quality. Extra attention should be called to Nick's excellent customer service. He responds quickly to email inquiries, even over the weekend; provides great recommendations; and is very helpful. He even delivered my ties to my office so I could have them in time for a formal event. I don't think I've ever worked with someone who cares more about customer satisfaction. You must make an appointment, but they were very accommodating to my schedule. The staff was friendly and I enjoyed the explanation of everything they were going to do to make my blazer fit better. Ben and his team were great all around, they deserve their 5 star rating. I set up an appointment, walked in, and immediately felt comfortable. These guys treat you as an equal; most tailors tell you what looks good and quickly dismiss any of your suggestions because they've "been doing this for X years". Not Ben, he has a more modern take on tailoring and understood that I wanted a slim look. Anyways, I brought in a suit, and asked for it to be ready in 2 weeks for a wedding. Ben and his team did just that. And one major plus is that they don't try to rip you off. I'm about 5'2" and brought in a suit that fit someone thats 5'6",so I needed all sorts of work done that should have cost me well over $200. After looking it over, Ben made sure I got a good deal and told me, word for word, "We aren't in the business of ripping people off or over charging". They did a fantastic job as well, no loose threads or noticeable alterations. They have won a repeat customer in me, and I couldn't recommend them any more! read more

I needed to have a tuxedo tailored in 4 days and after calling many different tailors around the city Peter Field was the only tailor willing to to get take on the job. My girlfriend found these guys online and after reading the reviews insisted that I contact them and schedule an appointment. My tuxedo was very expensive and I did not want to leave it in just any regular old tailor's hands and so I decided to drop by and feel these guys out. Upon arriving I met Brian, a very nice guy who seemed to be very knowledgeable about trends and style. He immediately asked what I needed to get done and surprised me by explaining that some of the alterations were unnecessary and would not be worth spending money on, most tailors would just go ahead and take my money. After taking all the proper measurements I felt confident that I had made the right choice. I returned 4 days later in the afternoon and tried on my jacket which was a perfect fit and then put on my trousers so that Brian could take his final measurements before finishing them up. After completing the job on the trousers I tried them on and was extremely happy with them. Thanks to their work and professionalism I was able to walk out of the shop knowing that I was going to have the best looking/fitting tuxedo at my event that night. The pricing for the job was within the range of all other tailors within the area but I do, however, recommend attempting to drop off your clothes as early as possible to allow them ample to work and to also avoid paying the rush fees per alteration. I am happy to say that I have found a new tailor that I can trust and happily recommend to others. I will most definitely continue to trust them as my tailor and look forward to our continued business. read more

You will immediately feel at home and comfortable in the space as you get your suit, pants, t-shirts, anything really, fitted perfectly. Once done you'll pay and I tell you the work is worth every penny. I had a suit that was impossibly large on me. Took it here and it's a brand new suit. They'll also prioritize your work if you need something sooner (for a little extra per piece). Peter Field has become my only choice for tailoring. I bought a suit online from Indochino that was well made but the fit was not great. The fitting at Peter Field was quick and easy and they were very open and honest as we went about their pricing - which is also itemized right on their site. No BS or tricky salesmanship here. I had many things to alter so I went over the $75 tailoring credit allotted by Indochino - but well worth it. They made my $350 suit look like a $2,000 suit. I made a Friday afternoon appointment at Peter Field Chicago. I arrived to find their office locked & dark, with a sign that all appointments had been cancelled for the remainder of the day. No phone call, no email, zero communication. This combined with the terrible appointment-booking system (E-mail form to give them three specific dates/times of your availability. Hope someone responds.) It's 2018, even my barber has online booking. Maybe it was a blessing in disguise. Peter Field was really great. Everything is appointment only which is fine by me. It's a bit out of the way from everything, but somewhat close to my office. But with good reviews, i decided to check it out. I just got 1 pair of pants tailored. Just picked them up the other day, and they look great. I would say my only complaint is that it took a while. For one pair of pants it took about a month. That being said, I didn't tell them it was urgent or anything, and to be completely honest, I totally forgot I had even gotten them done until they called to tell me it was ready. read more
