Overall experience is 2/5, though the actual customer service itself has been more or less great…read more First of all, the phone system for 90% of the departments are AWFUL. It's nearly IMPOSSIBLE to get ahold of any department (I was calling nearly all of them). And the only department that picked up was Finishline. Jose from this department helped me immensely trying to wrangle the women's shoe department, calling me back to check on my inquiry when I called towards closing and was waiting for a call back from the department I was really trying to reach. I had to do my entire purchase over the phone, as this store was the only store to have the shoe I wanted in my size (I live in a different state), and I needed it ASAP for a special event. Since I called towards closing, I was supposed to get a call back. The women's shoe department failed to do so, so I called finishline again the next day (took me them an hour to pick up). It just felt like a lot of teeth pulling, but finishline and the manager of the men's department (Leticia I think but I don't remember I'm so sorry!) were really trying so hard to get the right apartment together (they physically had to run up stairs to communicate to them)! Super sorry I inconvenienced all the wrong departments, but I am immensely grateful for them! I got my shoes in time. Thank you! But please fix your phones at the cash registers or tell corporate to change the messaging in the automated phones because it was super frustrating spending hours trying to ring a phone.

My best friend and I had an incredible time in the women's shoe section at this Macy's. I was…read morevisiting her for the long weekend and we needed to do some wedding shopping. I needed to find my bridal shoes and she needed to start looking at bridesmaids dresses. First of all, this is one of the prettiest Macy's I've ever been inside. I'm not sure if this is a normal big city thing, but feels like the entire store was just Macy's and not a mall which was cool. There seemed to be a lot of special deals on different items. Most of it was what you'd expect from a Macy's in terms of pricing. We had so much fun in the shoe section. They had a gorgeous selection of shoes to pick from. I ended up falling in love with some bridal shoes from Dolce Vita. I was so happy to be able to order them for pick up at my store back home so I didn't need to fly with them. We also tried on some other gorgeous shoes like ballet heels. In terms of formal dresses, it felt like they still mainly had their winter selection out, so we weren't able to find the exact green bridesmaid dress we were looking for, but we did get a good idea of what looked good vs what didn't. I highly recommend coming to this Macy's.

**Kari's Rating: 8/10** *(Would easily be a 9.5/10 if the beauty department weren't so…read moreoverwhelming.)* TL;DR * The beauty associates are *far* too aggressive--it feels impossible to browse without being approached every few seconds. * The café is still one of my favorite places in Chicago. * Free alterations on Nordstrom purchases and $25 for outside items is a huge plus. I've lived in River North for over eight years, and honestly, there's no place quite like Nordstrom. I grew up coming here with my mom, sitting in the café, eating pizza, and leaving with a "Nordy" balloon. Those are some of my favorite childhood memories, and to this day I still think about their margarita pizza. Now that I'm older, I bring my dog shopping with me, and she absolutely loves all the attention from the associates and other shoppers. We've been to the café countless times, and she would unquestionably give the kids' chicken and veggie meal a 10/10. Nordstrom is still my go-to department store because it's convenient, consistently carries the brands and style I wear, and the customer service outside of cosmetics has always been excellent. It's the first place I think of when I need clothing, shoes, or gifts. That said, the beauty department has become incredibly frustrating. I completely understand that many of the makeup associates work on commission, and I genuinely respect that they're doing their jobs. But there is a huge difference between being available to help and making customers feel like they can't exist in the department without being approached. Every time I walk through the makeup area, I can barely look at a product before someone is asking if I need help. If I say "I'm just browsing," another associate from a different brand approaches me literally seconds later. Then another. Then another. It gets to the point where I'm being interrupted every few steps. Instead of enjoying the experience, I feel anxious and rushed. I don't get to compare products or discover something on my own because I'm constantly trying to politely decline conversations. It honestly feels less like shopping and more like running a gauntlet. Ironically, the constant pressure makes me want to spend **less**, not more. I've actually skipped buying products because I just wanted to get out of that section as quickly as possible. I still love Nordstrom and will continue shopping here because it's my favorite department store and has everything I'm looking for. I just wish the beauty department adopted a more relaxed approach. Customers should be able to browse comfortably and ask for help when they're ready--not feel like they're being followed every few seconds.
