Let me start by saying that my in-laws have used Arthur Groom for years, and they came highly recommended. When it came time for my husband to propose to me, they did an absolutely amazing job incorporating his grandmother's diamonds into my ring. During the wedding band design appointments, they met and exceeded our expectations. I am in love with my ring, as is everyone who notices it. What I'm not in love with, is the fact that one of the diamonds, most likely one from his grandmother's ring, has fallen out twice. Arthur Groom kindly replaced it the first time, but now says there would be a charge to do it again. I feel this is unfair, as this is clearly a result of their craftsmanship. I wish they would reconsider, as I would love to show my ring off with pride again, minus the footnote that Arthur Groom will not make it right. read more

I went there for my emerald ring appraisal. Store was clean and very nicely carpeted with red. Staffs were generally friendly. Cecilia who is GIA certified jewelry appraiser took me downstairs where appraisal lab located. Lab was spacey, very neat. She assessed my ring, also other appraiser who is specialized with emerald checked my ring as well. Cecillia explained to me step by step what she was doing and what she is going to do. She explained me everything, it was easy to understand. She seems very experienced and very knowledgable. I wanted to get official document fast, she emailed me final detailed report at end of the day. And also she promised to send me the hard copy by mail. I was very satisfied with her excellent service. I also did my ring prong repair here, they did great job. But I felt its bit a pricey. I saw many emerald jewelry are displayed through the store as well as diamonds. I wanna do some jewelry shopping there in the future. read more

Terrible on so many levels. I bought a sapphire and diamond ring at an auction. I brought it here to get an appraisal. Upon inspection the ring had a cracked diamond. I left the ring with the jewerler to repair the stone and replace the appraisal page that said the ring had a cracked diamond. I also left some other repairs, sizing issues and a new prong setting for my engagement ring. I have had the engagement ring for 35 years. The jeweler called with estimates and I thought they were fair for the diamond but a bit high for the new prong setting, sizing of a few rings and repairs of a missing stone. (I had the stones) I thought for quality work it would justify the price. That was my first mistake!!! I came to pick up the rings and they were all filthy. They told me cleaning was extra. The page to my appraisal was not replaced with the new one and they said they had no idea what I was talking about. ( So call me a liar instead of checking with the appraiser) I asked if the owner could call me because I was unhappy. They said they would leave a message. ( still waiting 5mths). I had to come back a third time to pick up the page to the appraisal because I didn't want them to mail it. Honestly, I didn't trust them. On Sunday, I was washing my hands and noticed that one of the prongs had broken off. Thank God I looked down or I would have lost my diamond. I called them Monday morning to find out if they would fix ithe broken prong. They said that I broke it and they would have to look at it. But, yes they would charge me. They do not stand by their work. I had the first setting for 35 years 2 children and three dogs but "I broke it" in 5 months. I was in the hospital in Sept and put the ring in the Safety Deposit box at the bank for safe keeping. I retrieved it around Thanksgiving. I haven't even worn it for the whole 5 months. Shotty work, rude sale representatives and they say I broke it. I decided to write this review and go to someone else to repair my cherished ring!!! read more

As I was being helped one of the young ladies who was working there offered to clean my wedding band and my wife's rings! They didn't charge us for it either! I've been coming here for years. I've had my wife's Ebel repaired twice, her engagement ring fixed (one of the prongs was loose) and it also needed to have platinum added to it since the last guy had used white gold. Anyway, they were extremely nice, helpful and professional. Since then, I've had them do two appraisals on my wife's rings for insurance purposes, and now they're resizing my wedding ring. I had a very disappointing experience at Arthur Groom in Ridgewood. In December 2013 I took my Rado watch in for repair. The cost of this repair was $500. In June 2014 I noticed my watch was not running. I then noticed the back of the watch was missing. I took the watch back and was told that repairs were needed and the watch was rusted inside - another $500. I took the watch home and will look for a more reputable jeweler. Dave read more

I just had Arthur Groom add some links to a few of my wife's watches after another jeweler refused to replace links on a ceramic watch band.They even removed a link for (no charge)after my wife added 1 too many links.The staff is exceptionally courteous and professional and provides a very rare level of customer service.Its the type of customer service once common many years ago, but very seldom seen nowadays.Keep up the good work.You will be seeing me again and again! read more

I had recently come here for a repair on my watch. I had come into the shop with a relatively demanding timeline for which I would like the watch back and thought it would be quite hard to receive the watch back within my desired timeframe. I would first like to say that upon entering the store, I had noticed the organization of all the show cases as well as the cleanliness of it. I had also noticed that the interior of the store had a bit of a dated look to it and one of the sales associate told me that Arthur Groom & Co is one of the oldest stores in the town of Ridgewood. Enough about the small stuff, the part that really amazed me was the professionalism and helpfulness of the staff. They not only help me address my problems with the watch but they also empathized with me and understood how precious this piece of jewelry was to me. After our conversation, the staff had introduced me to their jeweler, who was also very professional and had a very organized work station. I knew that my watch was in good hands. After the pleasant introductions, I presented them with a timeframe in which I would like my watch back, I knew that it would be a relatively hard timeframe to meet but I hoped for the best. The staff understood my request and did their best to meet it. When all was said and done, they had actually fixed my watch sooner than I had wanted it back by. I highly recommend this jewelry store for anyone who genuinely cares about their jewelry and as well as being interested in buying fine jewelry.
