Before I even interacted with him, there was a guy with no name tag on the other side of the counter in front of the register, so close I could have tapped his shoulder, who completely ignored me for several minutes. Eventually, Terry came around the corner and asked if I was being helped. I said no, I just need a duplicate key. I followed him to the other side of the island and gave him the house key I was having copied. No sooner had I handed him the key then he took a personal call on his cell phone. He was on his cell phone the entire time the key was being made. I was flabbergasted because given the white ponytail hanging out of his hat, I judged him well old enough to have customer service ingrained in him, but this old-head Terry showed less respect to me as the customer than the average 15 year-old employee I see bagging groceries. He slipped the new key into the bag and handed it to me with no break in his phone conversation. As I walked away, I decided to compare my key with the duplicate Terry had just made. The match was COMICALLY different. My biggest regret is that I didn't snap a picture of it for this review, but suffice to say there's no way the duplicate key would've opened the deadlock I need it for. That's actually very concerning because I'm relying on this duplicate to let me in to someone else's home to feed their cats while they're out of town. The wrong key would make it impossible to feed them. I went back to Terry and he was still on his personal phone call. Seeing me again, he wrapped up with "I love you" which confirms the nature of this call, and gave me the undivided attention that would have spared a revisit in the first place. I held the two keys together and told him I was skeptical the key he had just made would work. He took the keys in his hand, agreed and cut me a new key. When not on the phone, what do you know? he was able to make an identical duplicate. The key was just over five dollars, which feels like a fine value. The only reason I'm doing two stars not one is because Kelly was so great welcoming everyone in and checking out at the register.

When we walked in, we were immediately greeted and asked if we were looking for something in particular. We were then efficiently walked over to the aisle housing screwdrivers and told about the different options. They were locked in a case, so we would've needed a staff member's help anyway. Apparently people like to steal screwdrivers, which I never would've guessed. Prices seemed fair, but to be transparent, I don't generally buy tools so I don't really know the going rates. Check out was just as efficient with a couple lines in operation. And the cashier was just as friendly as the staff member working the floor. Everyone was properly masked and social distancing was taking place as well. I would suggest supporting this small business and those like it prior to going to the big box stores.

The store is much less overwhelming than the big box hardware stores and the employees were SO helpful. I really enjoyed my experience there, which I never thought I'd say about a hardware store. I have been going here for several years to buy as much as I can to support a smaller business. I bought a $10 tube of JB Weld from here in March, came home used the JB weld as I've always used JB weld only it didn't set up. Naturally, I had to scrape it off of my pipes so I could figure out the next solution. I even gave it 24 hours, but it had the consistency of wet Play-Doh. So I brought the package back to the store and explained what happened and honestly expected to get a no questions asked store credit or something. Instead, the man proceeded to read the entire package and asked me to bring back the gooey mess. I came home and dug through my trash, but it had already been picked up by the garbage company. It's laughable to me that people lack this much common sense. I have made my last purchase here. I hope the four dollars or whatever profit you made on this was worth it. I have attached pictures of what I was able to find in my trash when I got home as well as the pipe with all of the defective product removed from it. With any luck at least 20 more people will read this review and choose to go to Lowe's instead. Update: I found the used product wadded up in paper towels but won't bother going back to the store.

Came there specifically to have a key duplicated. No one at the desk. No problem, I'll wait. Employee walks by and sees me standing there and was going to keep walking so I decided to ask her if she can help me. Immediately, not a great attitude. Did not catch her name but pretty sure her name tag had "manager" on it. She had that way of talking that just signals they are irritated to be helping you. So she doesn't have the needed blank (which I understand) and decides to try to make a "custom" key for me, which I appreciate. She hands it to me and says she thinks it will work but it's custom made. Ok, I get it. This is where my annoyance increases. I said I'd like a total of three duplicate keys. She refused to make the other two. She said there's no point in making them if I'm not sure if they are going to work. Sure there is....I live an hour away, I tell her, so I'd like to get the keys now. Nope, she refused again. So if the keys work, I'm all set. If they don't work, I'm out $6 to $8. Under her way, if the keys work, I am supposed to make another 1 hour round trip to have 2 more made? Why not just make them? She apologized for how far I lived away and said....there's no point in making them if I'm not sure they are going to work. I'm a bit stunned at this outright refusal to sell the customer what they are asking for. I guess the customer is not always right at this store. It was clear she just didn't want to spend 5 more minutes making two more keys. It was quite annoying. I do not plan to return to this store.

I love the jumble and assortment of stuff here, and it's much more of an adventure than going to Home Depot. I find little sink stoppers and screens for my bathroom and kitchen that I can't get anywhere else, but I always end up picking up something on a whim, like candles. They have the odd gift item stocked right beside the really functional hardware stuff. I bought my Sterno stove kit, which really comes in handy in the winter, since Church Hill almost always loses power at least two or three times during the season. Can't live without my morning mud!

We usually go to Pleasants Hardware because, well, it's pleasant, but since this store just opened up in a strip mall near us, we decided to check it out. We were sent a mailer for a free key, so we thought we'd get a new key made. While 3 employees were trying to figure out the machine, we piddled around and got a few necessities, lightbulbs, batteries, bird food, etc. The guys working there didn't seem to know their stuff. They were pulling out manuals and we waited for what seemed like an eternity. My hubby was growing a beard waiting! Finally, we were told they didn't have our key, and it wouldn't have been free anyway because it was a car key. The flyer did not indicate any exclusions. Then they said "just house keys", but then they said our house key was different and they didn't do those either. What a joke. We left the items on the counter and left disappointed. Their flyer needs to specify which keys are included in the freebies! Or add the wordage "exclusions apply". Who's your marketing person? As my Yelp friend, John G. commented, they don't have the keys to success! Anyway a few days later, I told my sister that I still had they coupon for a free key, so we thought we'd give them another chance. I don't like to leave one star reviews unless my experience is truly awful, and I like to give businesses an opportunity to redeem themselves before I make a judgment. Sadly, more disappointment ensued. Again, it took 3 people to get the keys made and they cast us aside to assist other customers while we were next in line. We were appalled. Terrible customer service! When we said something about letting people go in front of us, the guy made excuses before he apologized.
