They quoted me $3,500 because that was their minimum, even if mine was very small project. I would have preferred the owner letting me know that they will not take on my project because the square footage is too small for their company to work on would be much more appreciative. But instead, not recognizing my need and brutality quoted me their minimum quote for 300 sq ft work and said I will have to pay $3500. This is where I feel the owner of this company lacks ethic and moral. Not understanding your customer's needs but focus on maximizing the opportunity to get the most money out of them is the worst business model that will soon burn this company to the ground. I understand most places will require some type of a minimum for a project. I'm a firm believer in service recovery. It leaves a more indelible impression than the first disappointing experience. It's what we studied in business school and it is what makes a good business truly outstanding. Artificial Grass Guru is such a business. Joey, the owner, has been routinely following up with me since my issues with the "burned" turf. Through no fault of his own, the position of my windows with relation to the movement of the sun relative to the East-West position of my home created an almost perfect reflective magnifying glass. Rather than say too bad, it's not our fault, Joey connected me with window tint companies who might be able to correct my issue so that AGG could replace the burned sections. However, as COVID got worse and the hospitals where my wife and I worked were overwhelmed with new cases, we didn't have the time or energy to meet with various window tint contractors. But that didn't stop Joey and AGG from contacting other window tint companies since two others couldn't fix the issue. And, ever the service recovery champs, Joey and his team continued to follow up at around 3 week intervals to assure me that they would stand by their installation and, more importantly, their word. As both LA and Orange Counties transition to the red tier and my wife and I are no longer seeing new cases of COVID, we can focus on getting the turf fixed and ready for the spring. But that is not the reason for the update. The additional star to bring AGG to five stars is due to Joey and his persistence in following up to make sure my family and I were happy with his product. However, his calls rarely focused on just the tint or when he could send his crew out to fix the problem. He was genuinely concerned about my wife and me and how we were dealing with COVID on the front lines. As with any home improvement project there were a few challenges along the way but all were resolved quickly and professionally and the new turf looks great! It's obvious that they care about having satisfied customers because Joey and Isaac were quick to reach out to me when I had concerns. The shape of my backyard is difficult to measure and it turns out that although there was enough material to finish the job, it would have required patching in a lot of small pieces in the final section. It didn't look good and I wasn't happy but they quickly agreed to patch in the area in question with only one more piece. The material was delivered only a couple of hours later, late on a Friday afternoon. I still don't know how they did that but the installer stayed until dark to finish the job on time as promised. This company seems to be out of business! I love my lawn they installed quite awhile ago, called 2 weeks ago and asked someone to come out and me a quote on some "ripples" that I now have in the lawn. I know this can be common, I would pay them to fix it of course! I have called 6 times in this past week, receiving a greeting on the phone saying "hold on, one of our Grass Guru's will be right with you." I hold on, and in 15 seconds, the calls are disconnected! My backyard's grass was patchy at best with weeds everywhere. Wood chips were scattered throughout. With that, my wife and I decided to look into artifial grass and gravel to replace the ugly "grass" and the wood chip areas to cut down on water and maintenance costs. Searched on yelp and also recommendations thru word of mouth from friends looking for artificial turf. I had contacted a total of 5 companies in the west San Gabriel Valley area. Roughly a 3-4 week process in all and I ended up signing up with Artificial Grass Guru. Salesperson, Doryan, very personable and seems extremely passionate about what he does. Estimate process and closing the deal was very straightforward. He made personal recommendations and answered all my questions in person, by text, and phone calls. Tailored the contract specifically to what I was looking for. Prices were competitive. Office clerk, Madison, very courteous and made phone calls for reminders and updates on progress. Construction crew worked especially hard given the recent hot weather. Did not impact our daily work routine. Daily cleanups and a final cleanup at completion. A gesture from them caught my eye: they had to wheelbarrow gravel across the front lawn, which is real grass and left a trail. I figured it's unavoidable and just part of the installation process so I did not mention anything. However, at the end of the day they manually watered the lawn to spruce it up and by the next morning the trail was gone. Even the truck driver, who dropped off and picked up the bin, came in to give me a heads up about where he was going to leave the bin. Professionalism at its best. The installation took 4 days to complete (not counting a Sunday). In the end, the final product was exactly what I had pictured it to be. My wife and I were very impressed. BUYER BEWARE! This is the first review I have ever written for any company. We contracted AGG to install artificial grass and to redo our driveway with pavers. I can write pages on the disastrous service and job that they performed but I know that sometimes the lengthy reviews are a lot to read so I figured I would bullet point the highlights. The Grass: * Sprinklers were all broken in the flower beds. 3X they came out to fix them. I was told they were fixed, not only weren't they fixed but the water was shooting up in the air like geysers. So clearly no one checked the work or tried to fix it. * Sprinklers were not capped under the turf. I repeatedly asked if the sprinklers were capped as I read online that this is a huge mistake and can be a big problem. I was assured they were. Sure enough they were not. In the backyard the turf was lifting up and the ground layer was washing out. They told me it would be fixed without cutting the turf (they would roll it back). They came out and cut the turf to cap the sprinkler. * Weeds. I have weeds growing out of the turf in over ten locations. * No One Supervised The Job At Any Point. I walked through the entire job with "supervisor" Joe. I was told he would be here to supervise the installation. He only showed up at the end of the day. Seemed like he was out pitching new work and wasn't interested in our job being done properly. One example of this: The workers laying the backerboard for where the turf ends and the flower beds begin seemed like they never got the plan we walked through with Joe because they were installing it in the wrong place. Luckily, I work from home and realized this before it was fully installed, but I had to take a half day off to supervise them and make sure it was done properly. Note: I had to be out there a lot during the installation to make sure it wasn't a disaster. * No Shows. I can't even begin to guess the number of times I was told that people would show up to fix these issues and they never showed. I would sit around texting and calling supervisor Joe and would get one of the three responses. 1) They were on their way (spoiler alert: they weren't) 2) Some excuse (everything from broken down cars, to family issues, to being sick (you name it) 3) No response at all. * Additional Fees. I was told they underestimated the amount of backerboard they needed and that I would have to pay an additional $150. In retrospect I should not have paid it. But it wasn't a ton of money compared to the job and it was early in the process and I wanted to maintain the relationship. * Customer Service Overall: I mentioned earlier the no shows and no supervision. But it was worse than that. We got Joe the supervisor's boss involved, Frank, and it was no better. Same lack of follow through, communication, excuses, false promises. At one point Joe told me I was having issues because I got the "B-Team" because the "A-Team was on a bigger job". That made us feel good given we were spending north of $30K for these projects. * Trash Everywhere. They left the yard like a construction site. Broken sprinklers in the flower beds, soda cans, food wrappers, extra turf rolled up and left in my driveway. The Driveway: * Water In The House: This was really the biggest issue with the driveway. The sand that binds the pavers was not put down correctly. In some spots they didn't put it down at all and others it wasn't mixed properly and washed away in the rain. This led to water entering my house in two spots. * Unfinished. There is an area along the front walkway that they simply didn't finish. Some shrubbery was blocking the area so they figured they wouldn't finish it since it wasn't immediately noticeable. I took pictures and sent to Frank. He said he would fix it. This was months ago. He had people come out to look at it. But it still goes unfixed. * Damaged Palm Tree: When ripping up the old driveway one of the trucks ran into our palm tree and damaged it. Like I said earlier. I can go on-and-on. But I hope this gives you a clear idea of our experience with Artificial Grass Guru. read more

Artificial Grass Guru's estimate was not as high as others! It included the gopher protection and one small section to not have dogs do their business on our grass! On Friday a crew of 5 men came. When a company has all 5-star reviews, it never feels good to be the one to say something negative. However, we feel that our experience needs to be shared. We reached out to Artificial Grass Guru after reading all of the glowing reviews on Yelp and scheduled a quote. Marjorie, their representative, came out to our home and viewed our yard. We explained to her that we have five rescue dogs as well as two kids, and needed to ensure that turf would hold up against our use AND would be safe for all parties involved. Marjorie put turf samples down on our grass underneath full sun and shortly after, my partner and I walked barefoot across the samples. We were told that turf does get hot, however, the product that we were choosing (the most expensive turf they had) cooled down incredibly quickly with a spray of the hose and that it would not heat up to a dangerous point for human skin or dog feet. We went through the project with her, detailing the areas of the yard where turf was and was not to be installed, and then we set our installation date for a time when we were out-of-town - which we were assured was not an issue whatsoever. When we arrived back-in-town late in the evening, we were immediately impressed with how incredible the turf looked. However, after looking around the next morning in daylight, we started noticing some pretty big issues: - A strip of our yard that decorative rock was removed and replaced with turf when it should not have been. - A small strip that was supposed to be replaced with turf was not. - The edges of our decorative garden were damaged. - Two of our sprinkler heads that provide water to our entire vegetable and flower garden were damaged. Both sprinkler heads that were standing perpendicular to the ground pre-installation are now either parallel to the ground or angled post-installation. - One of our sprinkler valves was raised without authorization (or need). - Two sprinkler heads in an area of our yard where the old grass was removed were cut off at the surface versus capped as we were told they would be by our project manager. They are now fully unusable on that side of our yard without full replacement. - Debris from installation was left all over our yard and not properly cleaned up. Chunks of turf were all over our raised beds, our patio, fill was left all over our patio, pieces of plastic pipe were strewn about our yard, crumpled water bottles, Coke cans, oranges, etc. - Areas of the turf are already pulling up and look like pieces of floss. Every single day we come outside to spray the turf down and find pieces of plastic on the top of the surface. We now have a yard that, during the days in summer SoCal heat, is not usable by our kids without shoes and not usable by our dogs whatsoever but actually looks great. We have had to put up a pop-up canopy to give shade to a corner of our yard so our dogs can use the bathroom, which is pretty hideous. As we both work full-time, travel, have two children in activities as well as five dogs, you can imagine that we have not been the easiest to get ahold of. You can also imagine that schedules need to be coordinated in advance to ensure that anything happens in a timely fashion. We applaud Artificial Grass Guru for sending a crew out on a holiday weekend, completely unannounced, to fix our repairs. We also applaud them for sending a crew out completely unannounced a separate time that we are still unaware of. We do NOT applaud Artificial Grass Guru for threatening a mechanic's lien on our home after being told of all of the issues that have happened after a $10,000 installation. Instead of addressing the fact that their representative gave us false information and ensured that we would be installing a usable product, their response was "we spoke with our representative and she has no recollection of that conversation". The issue of the turf being installed in areas where it should never have been has been ignored, and the issue of the heat has been chalked up to "every surface gets hot." As of right now, we have an appointment for repairs scheduled this Saturday at 7:30am and Artificial Grass Guru has demanded 60% payment to make this happen. They have also stated that they will not be changing the price of our installation despite all of the above issues while maintaining that customer service and satisfaction are at the forefront of their company policy. Buyer Beware: Make sure that you have your installation plans in writing before you pay any of their invoices. Make sure you have a clear and detailed understanding of where the turf is and is not being installed, as despite explicit instructions we are being charged (and subsequently blamed) for improper installation and square footage. Take photographs and ask your representative to put any claims of the product in writing, as they will claim that they did not make such claims during the quote once they have charged you $10,000. read more

They asked politely for a review and honestly was going to do this as I used the Yelp features to request multiple quotes for my project. We chose Artificial Grass Guru because they were the quickest to get the estimate and were able to get the job done the fastest! Two days of work within two weeks of the estimate! First impressions of the finished product: wow, amazing quality and attention to detail, super soft, my house feels like a million dollar house! It's like I'm at the Getty or Huntington Gardens! And my two year old son loves it. He insists on being barefoot all the time. He just likes to fall and roll on it. And he rides his little bikes all around the property now. It just brings us joy. The details: we evaluated AGG against 2 other local contractors. My wife met Marjorie at the property and said she got a really good vibe from her. I wish I saw samples before deciding to hire AGG but we didn't get to keep any like some other companies provided. However in hind sight, when I compared them to the Tiger Turf samples, AGG was softer, but I thought Tiger Turf looked more natural. I'm totally ok with the bright green color. AGG has their own turf products and we went with the more plush option (called AGG 90 Belair Supreme) Marjorie was very flexible and sent us multiple proposals which I liked, we were debating on doing the side yard or not. Majorie steered us in the right direction. We felt their prices were competitive and ultimately added additional work in our front planter with white rocks. (Which are not pictured, but are beautiful.) The estimate and invoice process was smooth. All online payments. My only feedback would be I wish someone from their office called before the work began just to go over the details. Their estimate was concise but I wasn't sure what was happening. No pictures. As I said my wife communicated the details and perhaps we left some things out. 7 am I hear the doorbell and they ask me to ask my neighbors to move their cars. Yikes. Anyways, not a big deal but a phone call ahead would have been nice. Ulises and his team of seven more guys were amazingly fast and friendly. I went over the areas not to turf with Ulises and he followed it perfectly. (Like in the front corner and other planter areas.) Our yard was trash, with weeds and spotty grass and uneven terrain. With some power tools and manpower they cleared the weeds. The road base they applied and packed down helped to meet the dirt closer to the new concrete and helped the slope. They were already putting the bend-a-board down the first day. Second day week block and more bordering, then the turf install. That was exciting to watch, they rolled it out in my street, fortunately it was street cleaning day and they had the space. All in all, great install and I can't see any seams or feel the nails. They must have put in over 1,000 nails. And the work around my concrete paver squares in the back is so good! AGG also does rock and those areas look great too (I'll need to post some more photos.) Sand infill, stellar clean up. A couple small chips off my front wall, but what are you going to do. The 18 year warranty is nice too. A little pdf you get at the end. It's easy to blow leaves off and any toys left overnight leave a little depression, but you take it or move the blades and it's back to normal. And the office staff, can't leave them out. Initially everything was great and they were responsive but after the install we started to notice a sinking hole in the area where we had a tree that they cut down and filled. We had samples from several companies, so were able to directly compare the different products. The road base that they add, after compacting the ground, along with grass that is perforated on the underside allow for efficient drainage and quick drying after a hose down. (recent fires and ash fallout. ) This combination prevents odors hanging around. ( animals) A big negative for most artificial grasses I learned during my research Time will tell and I'll update if things change. This company manufacture their own grasses and create a product from vinyl rather than plastic so it is less heat retentive. Artificial Grass Guru provided a competitive bid, not the lowest and not the highest instead, however they were the most thorough and professional. We chose AGG and are glad we did. The staff spent the entire day at our home removing old grass, capping sprinklers, and prepping the surface. The crew was professional and thorough. Once the job was complete, they took pics and sent them to their office. The next day, we noticed a few ripples in a small section of the turf. I called and they scheduled an appointment to return. The returned one week later and ensured the turf was perfect! I highly recommend AGG to anyone interested in turf. I highly recommend Artificial Grass Guru! My consultant, Kimberly, was extremely knowledgeable and helpful when it came to selecting the right turf for my front yard. The price was very reasonable when compared to the cost of rock landscaping or re-sodding the lawn (only to lose it again to drought). I chose the Ventura turf which looks real and feels great. Here is the 2nd half of my initial review: They left the stabrlizer in the sun. After continually calling Jared and requesting that he come out and take a look at my concerns and him cancelling a few times (without notice) and telling me over the phone that basically in other words they"ve  lost money doing my job. Need I say that was a miatake he will never make again. He will  think before he speaks, as I gave him Customer Service 101 the extended version.... Two days later, I received a call from "The Owner" (Isaac), who was extremely apologetic and assured me "the project manager would be out that evening to do a walk through with me no exceptions And would be having a very serious/strong conversation regarding the events and conversations that took place because they were unacceptable, unprofessional,  blah, blah, blah blah, blah...." He said Jared would be sending photos, videos, etc. of the project, and we would go from there. Jared finally came back to my home on May 11th to do a walk through of the project ( I'm guessing you've figured out by now that my Moms party was cancelled).  Jared finally shows up and says he shares my concern; he said "How is this supposed to last 20 years looking like this..." He took pics and videos and left. I called the 12th (EOD) and everyday after and finally received a call back on 05/19/22 from Isaac apologizing profusely, making every effort to reassure me that they were going to do whatever it took to make things right to include removing the grass and reinstalling it if necessary, "not the way they do business and everything he viewed was not their quality of work."  thanked me for my patience and was very convincing as he gave me hope that all would be corrected and done as expected with a machine to level/grade and address all the issues. So, he sends Ruben back out with his team over a week later. My patience ran thin until it was no more. They showed without a machine to level/grade the ground as ' Isaac" said they would. Instead there was more pounding the ground with the steel tool on a stick. They went through front and back and gave all the lawns a pinched gatherd look all over (worse than the initial install) it was terrible.  I took more pictures and sent more videos to AGU And once again Isaac agreed that it's worse and once again promised and reassure me that he "will be sending his top person from the install department" and would be calling me back to inform of next steps; blah, blah, blah blah blah.  At this point I have no confidence in what hes saying or that he will call back as promise because already 3 times hes promised to call a certain date and time and did not. The "top installer"  showed up days later to my home, never make contact with me, didn't even attempt to call me and left. A week later tells me he is sending a new team and they were going to make everything right. Saturday late morning, One lone guy that did not speak English showed up and told me he "was only here to fix (again) the edges of the grass"  I learned that because he called his boss on the phone who spoke English. He knew nothing about the DG (Decomposed Granite) and my flagstone. I was upset, and AGU was unrespobsive. I told his boss that he needs to place my flagstone to put my yard back the way it was and do the DG  as Isaac had a darker DG Delivered and dropped in front of my home and said it will be installed and stabalized around the flagstone. (Oh, the company that dropped the DG damaged the asphalt on the street in front of my home, the city just repaved all the streets in my entire community last year, now I may eventually end up with a hole in front of my home. read more

Just had my backyard done (approx 600 sq ft) and it looks fantastic. I worked with Jason to get the estimates and a very competitive quote that was below 3 other contractors that quote me, also answered my myriad of questions. A team of 5 or 6 showed up on time, were super efficient despite the unbearable summer heat in the IE and finished by mid afternoon. Clean up was spotless. These guys do an excellent job and are very professional. The only minor improvement I could see was that it took a few days to receive some communication from their office after I had already paid the deposit, and even then I had to call in myself. I was hoping to get a call/text/email of some sort within 24 hours to confirm the deposit and that the office was working on the scheduling. I know it's a super busy season for this type of business and scheduling can take time, but at least a quick note that it's being worked on would have sufficed. Otherwise, the communication and workmanship had been stellar. read more
