I loved my experience at Artisan Hair today! I typically get my haircuts in New York City, and I have high standards for my usual thick mess of straight Asian hair. I am always disappointed with salons in the Triangle, and have stayed away. But I saw this beautiful salon open next to Whole Foods and I got a great feeling! I asked my stylist, Miranda, if she would help me donate my hair to Locks of Love. No problem! In a bag my 12 inches of hair went. She consulted with me and offered me a great style in a matter of minutes. My entire look is transformed, and I am happy to say I have a gorgeous, sophisticated shoulder length hairstyle. This salon is so generous and attentive, I was treated to a complimentary beverage and a bottle of styling product. I love my haircut and appreciate the time and consideration I was given. They are definitely way over priced. Watch out for exhorbitant prices as they list out one pricing but start doing blow dry without confirming and easily add 60+ dollars which is rediculous. They have to double check with customers before they start providing service. Pricing on site is 175 and it easily becomes 300 when you go there without checking and confirming. read more

They're overpriced for what you get. They'll overcharge you if you miss an appointment by hundreds of dollars... don't you dare do that! Then the owner leaves me a message telling me Jessica the hair dresser was coming in sick to work on my hair. Who wants that? I don't want to get sick and I don't want someone coming in sick! There's no understanding and the receptionist told me on the phone that they texted the wrong last digit of my phone number. She told me she was calling a number ending in 6 when it's a 3. Owner denies it but that's what she told me. The owner is not going to help you out he'll matter of fact just tell you in your face that tough for you that you signed a policy. It's was $290! I would never ever ever ever ever ever ever go to this place. They'll auto debit you. I've gone to a lot of hair salons and a lot of stylists before in my lifetime and this is by far the worst customer service I've ever received and over priced. Average at best stylists Period!!! Cool. . Best single word to say for this place. It looks totally cool. They are cool people, genuinely, and you can tell they love that job and that place. Check out the awesome chairs as you walk in very gothic, and guess what, functional. They are comfortable, which is awesome, because beauty without function is just not my deal. Anyway, made a reservation for my curly haired boy the day before, and just had hopes, because we have had really bad experiences with the typical chains you find in every shopping center. Seriously, the last time I went to one near teeter, they cut one of my sons ears, and poked the other one in the eye with scissors , for real. Anyway, do a 180 with that experience, and you have artisan hair. Totally make you feel at home, offer you any refreshment they gave, and make you feel comfortable. They are real, and for real!! I made an appointment for a gloss treatment and blow dry. When I made it over the phone in the morning, I made it known that my hair was long and thick and that I needed someone who could really take their time with it to make it look good. She assured me that they'd given over an hour time slot for the stylist to do just that. When I sat in the chair, she convinced me to also add a deep conditioning treatment, which was not in the budget but she gave me a really fair price. When the time came to blow dry, from the first strand I could tell this wasn't going to look good. It looked like I had just let that air dry with zero product. She was nice and meant well but if I knew that this would be the end result, I would've just kept my $80 and not wasted my time. I could've done a better job myself. I'm just extremely disappointed, the last time I got my hair blowdried I didn't pay to get a gloss treatment and maybe I shouldn't have because there's zero shine today. . I'm not even working and I really wanted to treat myself and this just sucks. My hair looked a million times better when I walked in and I should've just left it. Nothing personal on the stylist, I'm sure she's good at a lot of other hair-related services but I guess just stick to one hair-type. Doesn't seem like the salon can handle mine. read more

No issues with the staff, but Rob, the owner is an ass and does not know the first thing about how to treat his clients. Not only does he speak rudely to clients, he has unwarranted attitude and wants to instigate aggressive conversation. Demeaning and condescending are words that best describe him. This place is downright okay. I went to get my hair cut for the first time in a while, really wanting more of a trim to get off the dead ends. The stylist didn't make me feel very welcome and the atmosphere felt a little off putting not sure why. I asked her to cut my hair dry and she refused, even though the type of coarse hair I have you should always cut dry. My cut looked pretty good after she styled it and straightened it. But naturally after I washed it looked choppy and she cut too much off. Not at all what I asked for. It wasn't a horrible experience, but I didn't leave feeling comfortable at all or good about myself. Advice to the owners, be warm and welcoming especially during this time! read more

My stylist is Nisreen. She did a wonderful job on my hair. The salon is clean elegant and has a wonderful staff. Everybody that walked out looked beautiful. I have no idea how to talk to a professional about my hair. My instructions are generally "umm make it look nice?" So when Cari asked me what I wanted, and I have her my typical non-answer, she immediately kicked into stylist mode and asked me a series of questions about my products, my part, my routine, etc. It was excellent. The salon was clean and bright and I felt like a million bucks when I left. I have really dark hair and I'm not really inclined to dye it, but I've seen Cari's work on her Instagram and it's gorgeous! Matt has been doing my hair off and on for over ten years now. He moved out of town but when I heard he moved back I went right back to him. He has a wonderful personality and is well educated in his profession as a stylist. He does a great job with my hair and I highly recommend him. I know a couple of the other staff members, they are extremely nice and welcoming as well. The salon itself is very clean and they sanitize everything in between clients. If I can give below ZERO stars I would. First they make wait outside in the rain and cold, even though I had an appointment. I saw two other ladies waiting outside and they both looked peeved as well. Then the stylist was not only unfriendly, he was downright rude. When he finished washing my car, he barely dried it, I walked back to my seat with my hair dripping wait all over my clothes and the floor!!! I asked him to touch up a few strands with a flat iron (poor blowout), he flat out told me he doesn't have time for that. On my way out my phone died, as I paid a hefty bill, I asked the receptionist if so can gaffe my phone for 1 minute till my ride came back. I've been here several times and am always happy with my hair. He gives me the overall color balanced that I had been missing and helps me make my color treated hair softer with relatively inexpensive hair treatments. The staff was very accommodating and friendly however after giving explicit directions to the stylist - I had Matthew about how I wanted my haircut -there was even a woman there who had a cut that I wanted ! I got something completely different - when I asked for a little texturing he thinned out my hair! I already have thin hair- and the back has an area that he clearly cut too short- it goes straight across and doesn't blend in! I am completely disappointed. and the color that I had him do, which was a correction of some gold in the front I'm trying to let my hair grow in gray whatever he did it lasted me about a week and a half! OMG! I moved here from Boston 8 weeks ago and was so scared to find a new stylist. My hair is extremely curly and I went from shoulder length hair to a pixie cut in January so it was just a hot mess. Rob was AMAZING! He looked at my inspiration picture, he gave me his input and away he went. I absolutely love it! Hannah washed my hair and it was the most relaxing 5 minutes I'd had all day. The Best of the Best. I made an appointment with Miranda at Artisan for a haircut. My hair is curly & grey. For decades I always felt that having the versatility of a ponytail & the ability to wear my hair up was non-negotiable. We discussed what I didn't like about my hair and what the solution was. There is no question that Miranda transformed my hair with a most brilliant style that is made to order. I was nervous & somewhat unsure (even though I could see I looked so much better). My ponytail was gone. Who cares? I went running with my dog on the ATT and even in the shadow light I could see my hair looked great. When I got home my hair still looked great. My experience with the salon has never been great, not awful, but also not impressive. I gave the salon a few tries but won't be back after my last visit. I feel like my last appointment was 'experimental' to say the least. I can only assume it was coming from a good place, however, my hair wasn't colored to the root like I had requested prior to that service and during previous appointments. Candidly, I don't feel like my root was touched up at all during my last color. Additionally, I was told that huge sections of hair were missed by another stylist who worked to only style my hair a week or so afterwards (she only style hair, doesn't color/cut so I know she was trying to steal my busin. To add insult to injury following an appointment that didn't deliver results that I wanted in several regards, I realized after washing the (high end name brand) shirt that I wore during the appointment that it was completely damaged and ruined by coloring product. I'm confident there's no way the stylist didn't realize as your hair is twisted up on top of your head following a wash. I left the appointment with hair that wasn't fully dry or styled even though I'm very confident I paid for a blow out. I didn't report the issue, I'm not looking for compensation and have given the salon a few attempts to get it right, just wanted to share my experiences as a patron. read more
