This hair salon charged me $350 for a "no-show" appointment that I canceled almost a month in advance. When I called to ask them about it, they refused to refund the money or provide the original service the $350 was charged for. Also the charge is listed as a recurring payment on my bank account so they have access to recharge my card repeatedly and feel they don't have to answer to it. The owner (Zachary H.) was absolutely horrible when asked about working with us to resolve the issue. There is nothing in their policy that states no-refunds or partial credits, in fact, it states they will do everything they can to ensure you leave happy! That's actually crazy. If they wanted to ensure their customers were happy they could simply provide the service that was already canceled a month ago, paid for anyway (against my will), and still refused by the salon. They could have made it right in any way but they simply refused. These people don't care about their customers. Beware!! Go somewhere else and guard your card information!!!!! EDIT: Hi zachary. Just wanted to let you know, your reply on my review very much shows just how much of the run around you gave me. No business in their right minds puts pocketing $350 over the satisfaction of their customers. Tell me why Roots Salon and Wellness in Cary NC chooses to do so? Is arguing with your customers the best way to handle customer service? I was just wondering. Also, you haven't shown ME proof of anything. I want to see proof that I didn't call and cancel the appoitment, because it is simple to pull call logs from my end. Is it from yours? also, I was not provided a copy of this signed document. I would like one. I would like to know the best way to pick that up since we aren't exactly "welcome" at your salon. Next, there is no clause that I am aware of (I don't have a copy because I wasn't provided one) that states if partial credits, deposits towards future appointments or no refunds will be made. Understand that in small claims court, that will be pointed out. You denied me the service after the fact. Not just a refund, but the service itself. Dont forget that point. Another Edit: "We are very understanding and lenient because we know that life happens and things come up" seems very untrue considering the great lengths you're willing to go to to keep my money now. Just saying.... One more edit ... I wanted to point out that the Brazilian blow out was a service sold to me while sitting in your salon chair. It was an UPSELL that was pitched to me while I had a stylist doing my hair. It wasn't something I asked for, it was recommended and promoted by your team as I was getting my original service done. the price of the service was never told to me. I did not sign a separate document regarding the blowout. Only the original document for the highlights. No price was ever shown to me but the website specifically lists "$250-$350" as the price RANGE for the service provided. When I called and asked the salon why I was charged the upper end of this range automatically, they said that the Brazilian blowout is $350 and the other smoothing services are the ones that are $250. That's not what is listed on the webpage. Only the price range. This price was not communicated to me prior to signing up for this service that I had no prior knowledge about and that was "sold" to me while in the salon. read more

I found this salon ROOTS, online and took the time to read about each stylist. Toni Eure said she loves working with blonde hair, so I booked my appointment. I am SO happy with the way it turned out! I have neglected it for a few months, but she did the nightlights to make it look sooo much better! I will definitely go back to Roots, specifically Tori Eure, for my future appointments! Their pricing was fair and I feel like I have finally found a wonderful salon IN CARY! After spending way too much time and money for this look, I'm sincerely disgruntled. I had pictures from multiple angles of my prior cut. Somehow the asymmetrical bob I asked for turned into an impossible to maintain shag. This cut would be great for someone with thick, wavy hair-- on mine it just looks dried out and damaged unless I'm spending a lot of time/heat on it. And because she took way too much off in the wrong places there's no way to fix it until it grows out. The color probably would work as a pop color on natural hair, but it's a little dull from my usual and I'm finding patches of brassy/blonde in under layers. read more

I've been to this salon twice in the past several months. (July-Sept 2023) I've had two different stylists. Both were extremely nice and polite. The salon is clean and the service is prompt. As for my hair, sadly, I've been very disappointed with the cut/style on both occasions. I brought pictures to both appointments. We chatted about what I wanted and what I didn't want. The cut that I wanted was very similar to what I already had, but trimming, shaping up and styling was needed. I keep a medium-short layered cut. I am 65 with salt and pepper hair. My hair wasn't styled after my first cut at the salon. It didn't look at all like any of the pictures that we discussed. I was upset leaving the salon. When I got home I washed and styled my hair. The cut was fine after I washed and styled it, but I found that my hair was uneven around my ears. I had to trim the area over my left ear, which was 1/2 inch longer than the right side. The hair above my ear and directly back about two inches on the left side was also heavily texturized and much shorter than the right side. Thankfully, i was able to style the area to "hide" the length differences. The second cut was worse. I went to great lengths to point out how I wanted the back to look...shorter on the sides and bottom, longer and full over the crown. I wanted it soft and feminine. The stylist didn't show me the back with a mirror when she was done. She did have me put my hand through it. I knew it was short, but when I got home, I was absolutely shocked. The back is so short, it's almost impossible to work with. I have a big cowlick on the left side of my crown that now totally sticks out. Styling with a round brush... even one with the smallest barrel is 100% impossible. It's literally the shortest haircut that I've ever had in my life and looks nothing like the pictures that we discussed. In addition, the left side of my neck wasn't cleaned up. A large patch of fuzz remained. My husband had to use a trimmer to clean up my neck. My husband, who's the easiest going man that you'll ever meet said, "What's up with this haircut, honey? Your cowlick area is sticking straight out! Good thing it will grow!" I rarely write reviews, but I'm so disappointed. Haircuts are not inexpensive ($60-$65, plus tip), and you have little recourse when the outcome isn't what you explained or expected. I don't believe that I'll return to this salon in the future or recommend to any friends or family. Very sad. read more

Tori is a wizard!! When I finally decided I wanted a more lived in color she was my go-to girl. She kills it every single time, I always leave more in love with my hair than I thought I could be. The salon is so clean, cute, and they have complimentary food and drink (including iced or hot coffee) which is so great. They use Oribe products which makes my experience that much more luxurious. I booked with Tori Eure after doing a lot of research and finally settling on her and Roots Salon. I had just moved to Cary and it always feels like kind of a gamble to trust someone new with your blonde BUT Tori seemed to literally know EXACTLY what I wanted right away (which is much more than I can say for others who have done my hair before in other cities) and I am soooo so happy with my blonde. What an amazing place! I got my Lashes done here by Ashley. Not only were they really good, she was fast! Very sweet girl who is very knowledgeable and attentive to details. It was very easy to get an appointment, which is a plus. From the time I walked on the door until I left, I felt so warm and welcomed. The salon is clean and COVID COMPLIANT. Everyone was wearing a mask the whole time. Hand sanitizer everywhere. The staff was friendly, literally everyone I passed smiled at me and said hello. Hands down the best salon experience I've had in my entire life! I've been going to Roots for nearly three years after relocating to the area and I haven't been disappointed yet. In fact, Zach has taught me more about my hair and how to care for it in the last three years than all the women who did my hair the 30 years before. Not only do I regularly go to Roots for my hair but I've had two sessions for permanent eye liner done by Josalyn and, trying to be humble but, my eyes look amazing. My mom, sister, and my neighbor intend to schedule appointments with Josalyn in the near future for their permanent makeup. The Salon itself is very nice and so was my hair dresser. She kept asking if I was comfortable and brought me wine. I felt great while I was in there. My hair has always been very healthy, I constantly got complements on it even from the hair dresser herself at roots. My hair is used, to be colored every 8 weeks but this time my hair got completely damaged. We went for copper highlights and she even admitted that it looks like she bleached some strands in the back but it's not noticeable. I took her word for it and left. The next day when I put my hair up in a bun I had bleached out spots all over my hair. I looked like a calico cat and my hair was super dry and damaged. I called and let them know what happened. I was nice and asked if I can get just a plain brown color so that I can leave my hair alone for a while to get it back to health. All they offered was to put some more toner in (which will damage my hair more) and "see" if the bleached spots will pick up the copper color. If I wanted a new color I would have to pay again. I was pretty upset about this response and would now just rather have a refund and take my business elsewhere. read more
