Daniel and his team installed new flooring in a room in our house, replacing the carpet. The floors had some existing squeaks, and unfortunately those weren't addressed during the installation. After speaking with a few other contractors, I learned that fixing the squeaks during the flooring process would have been relatively straightforward. We went with Artisan Wood Floors to redo our existing hardwood flooring and the work they did was impeccable! We'd just completed a year long remodel and were at wits end with having workmen in our home by the time it came to having the floors done but the guy's made it a positive experience. Daniel and Daniel (father and son) are professional and as nice as can be! For a small additional fee per item the two Daniels plus assistant, moved our massive sofa and disassembled and moved our new dining room table out to the garage and reassembled and moved them back when the floor was done. They took great care moving the furniture and neither item was damaged in any way which was also true of the part of the house where they were working. It took a week from start to finish that included the entire downstairs along with the upstairs landing and end step caps on our staircase which ended up being almost a perfect match to the new staircase handrails we had installed earlier. The only suggestion I would make is if you're in a small home or condo as we are, consider having a staycation at a nearby hotel while the work is being done. We were there through the initial stripping and prepping of the floors and it would have been easier for us (and for them) to have been out of the house through the entire process. That said, if it's a room or area in a larger home you don't need access to, even as a pass through to other parts of the house, then this suggestion doesn't apply. In summary, we couldn't be happier with the finished results and the experience we had with Artisan Wood Floors. Artisan Wood Floors did an extraordinary job refinishing my floors. My 1950s home had gorgeous original inlay floors, but they had been so torn up from wear and tear! Spots even looked bleached, not to mention the cat who liked to pee on the floor. Mr. Acosta showed up the next day after I called to provide an estimate, and started quickly the next week. He spent several hours sanding the floor, applying tint to exactly match the hallway floors (which I did not re-do) and applying a semi-gloss finish. Though he could have rushed the job to complete it in a couple of days, his extraordinary eye for detail meant that he showed up for several days to re-buff a couple spots and re-apply finishes. I could not be happier with the results. My living room now has a lovely, sparkling look and his promptness, courtesy, ​and professionalism should be commended. read more

Daniel is very meticulous about his craft and therefore you canExpect that he will not attempt to cut corners. We recently contracted Daniel to refinish our kitchen floors which have not been been refinished for 19 years. Additionally, we excepted his bid to install wood floors in our basement and the downstairs bedroom. The new floor install is on a concrete slab in the foothills of Oakland on the Hayward fault line. Therefore, we have experienced foundation settling. David gave us a very fair price quote but more importantly, educated us on what was needed and how he was going to do this. He replaced our horrible old carpet downstairs and installed a floating wood floor which is fabulous. Most notably, the detail in which he used to install the moldings and cut the threshold to separate the various rooms. Daniel did this while we were on a two-week vacation and I saw him come to work every day on our ring doorbell early and leave late. Daniel went above the call of duty when he noticed that we would need an electrician to cut into the concrete floor to run a power cord. He arranged for an electrician to come in and cut into the concrete, all while we were out of town and I had no interaction! The finished product is fabulous and I recommend him. I don't know how good his work is. After he came out to measure and I told him my budget he never got back to me. I called twice and he kept saying he would get back to me. I waited a week, called today and I basically never got an estimate because 10k was too small of a budget. Instead of being upfront he just ignored me and then laughed when I called today. For any reading this pressed for time, or not into long, positive reviews, I'll get to the point here: If you hire Artisan Wood Floors to refinish your floors you'll not have a single regret when the job is done, even if you fish around to try and find one. That was my experience, at least. We hired Daniel to refinish our living room and dining room floors, which had been hiding under carpeting for likely decades. The wood thankfully turned out to be in excellent condition, (maybe in part preserved by the carpet) but appearance-wise they were in pretty desperate shape. In four workdays Daniel and his team took our situation from there, all the way to showroom. Again, when it comes to the finished product, I can't come up with a con when it comes to this company. But below are a few other qualities about Artisan that didn't go unnoticed. 1. They are quick. It took Daniel and his team four workdays to complete two good-sized rooms. I chose to have the floors refinished with oil-based, but had we used water-based stain and poly, with which the dry time is quicker, I'm sure they would've gotten the job done even faster. 2. They are neat. I mean what I say here. First, they sealed off every possible pathway a single bit of dust could take to get out of the work area, and within the work area itself it was nearly as clean, thanks to the use of a very effective dust suction system. By the end of the prep for both floors they had collected through this setup a 40-pound bag of sawdust outside. And yet inside the house it was nearly spotless, from start to finish. 3. They are experienced. I was home for the four days it took for Artisan to complete this project, and to learn a thing or two I often watched them work. I asked more than a few questions in that time as well. When I met Daniel for the home estimate, in talking with him it quickly became clear he knew what he was talking about. Watching Daniel and his team work it became obvious they knew what the were doing. Seeing the finished product--our floors brought back to beautiful life--proved the company has the right name. read more

In our search for a company to refinish the wood floors of our 1920,s Spanish home, we were referred by Home Advisor to Artisan Wood Floors. The owner, Mr. Acosta, surpassed even our highest expectations. What a craftsman! And such care and attention to details. Mr. Acosta was prompt, professional, and trustworthy from beginning to end. He was the ONLY wood floor refinisher of the many we interviewed who include moving furniture in his estimate. This was essential for us, as we were refinishing the entire main floor of our home. The furniture had to be moved from one room to the other in two stages for the week long process of sanding and applying the three finishing coats. He did not charge extra for matching the stain to maintain the vintage color. We also needed some repairs due to water damage by our French Doors. He did an excellent job. We did not know when he began that M Acosta had learned the trade from his uncle, that he had 25 years experience and that he knows and loves woods. As he worked with his lovely young adult son, we heard Mr. Acosta explain that our tongue in groove oak floors are rare now, and were laid mostly in Southern CA, or that the wood in our cabinet was from a certain part of a certain species of tree, " See you can tell by the burl pattern". It was a joy to watch the mentoring. We had no hesitation leaving town for the second stage of the work, as we trusted the father-son team completely.
