I also appreciate that he came out to see the house in person to accurately assess the state of the flooring ahead of time. He and his team were thoughtful about keeping the house clean during the project, sealing doors, using dustless sanding equipment, and wiping things down before leaving each night. We have worked with many contractors over the years and appreciate the attention to detail. The final outcome of the project was exactly what we were looking for. It looks like an exact match to the original flooring (no small feat, as it was a sort of grey wash eucalyptus wood). They not only provided personalized service installing borders and an inlay, they were flexible when I wanted to change the install date or requested changes to some boards even after the stain was down he was understanding and quickly accommodated my asks. At every step of the way Ishmael and his team showed interest in delivering the best service. Ishmael provided a highly competitive quote against three other services but that was not the main reason I chose them. When I met with Ishmael the first day for the quote he walked me through the project and what it was going to take to do it. He talked about materials and what it was worth spending money on and what it wasn't. He was able to find the hardwood for the floor at a discount and I paid nearly half what the other companies quoted me for materials. He passed that savings right on to me. During the project his team was on time, flexible, fast, and detail oriented. In the last stage there was an error where my dog was dropped off early and walked on the freshly varnished floors before they were dry leaving footprints. Poor communication. Multiple mistakes. Waited almost a year…read more I regret having to write this review of specialty hardwood floors and Tony Nguyen in particular... I have worked with him multiple times, so when I needed help restoring my historical home I thought I could count on him. I contacted him in the fall of 2022 and got a quote in October. We needed to schedule around other construction in the spring of 2023. He postponed several months until around July. We couldn't get a hold of him for an additional 2-3 months. The job was just completed in September 2023. Our home was built in 1926 and has mostly original hardwood floors throughout. I contacted Tony to help restore our entryway. Previous owners had installed slate but it was ugly and interfered with the front door opening. Despite making it clear that we wanted to restore the original charm, he put in plain white oak. The quote he provide was reasonable and I appreciate the workmanship overall. It was a real shame to lose the original details though and Tony was unapologetic after making this serious error. I wanted to find a solution but he was self-righteous and truculent. I will never use him again and tell my friends to avoid working with him in the future.
