Joni was very patient as I picked our railing materials. Paul gave us good examples of floor stain colors to choose from. Color is great! Do have an issue with the refinishing of our wooden vents. Sort of just pushed the oil finish down the wooden slats so not an even finish. Said there was no way to sand the louvres. I noticed but there was not much to do about it. Contract was for the tops. Also got a final invoice before a final walkthrough was scheduled. The railings both still needed to be buffed and re-oiled before they were smooth to the touch. Also needed some touch up on several areas of the floor. I think better communication/education would have been beneficial and always schedule a final walk through before final invoice! read more

We were so excited to hire Artistic Floors by Design to install new hardwood floors and replace our carpeted stairs with wood, new railings, and balusters. Their reviews often mentioned attention to detail, but our experience was the opposite. The workmanship and overall process were extremely disappointing, and we are now having to redo much of their work. Major Problems with the Stairwell: * At least one section of railing is not up to code. Balusters should be no more than 4 3/8 inches apart, but some of ours are over 5 inches. * Every baluster hole was left rough and unfinished, with glue and caulk drips visible. * The design lacks symmetry: all newel posts are different heights, and each of the three rail-to-post joins was done differently. * They promised to remediate squeaky stairs, but none of that work was done. Flooring and Finish Issues: * Initially the floors looked fine, but we later found damage, including an area where a cleaning cloth snags. * Stain was splattered on walls, window trim, and even outside the front door. We had to repaint. * Several walls were left with large gouges. Communication and Professionalism: * We were not consulted when design decisions needed to be made that directly impacted the look of our stairs. Instead, once the work was done, we were met with hostility when we asked questions about those choices. * When we raised concerns and withheld final payment until repairs were made, the company demanded the final payment and angrily threatened to place a lien on our house. At that point we no longer felt safe having them in our home. Our Recommendation: We strongly advise avoiding this company. Our experience was stressful, costly, and deeply disappointing. read more

I needed a small amount of additional flooring to be able to do a room, but the flooring style I had was no longer available. I contacted this company in 12/2021, and I provided three sample boards of what I was looking for. Over the course of 3+ months I could not get a straight answer on price (kept changing) and NEVER got an answer on minimum quantity I would have to order. They would keep promising answers and then weeks would go by with nothing. On 2/17 she promised updated pricing (again) and min qty, and after yet another three weeks I again heard nothing...and finally I gave up and politely asked for a time when I could pick up my samples. She replied that they had thrown out my samples...while I was waiting for her updated pricing! I read all of the glowing reviews just now, and it's too bad - I really wanted to hire them, and I spent months trying to get the info I needed to place an order. But they treated me like crap, and I think they're unprofessional idiots for throwing out my samples! read more

I can't say enough about Joe, Joni, Paul and Kevin. We are on the tail end of a very large remodeling project. Of all the contractors I've worked with to get this project done, Artistic Floors by Design has been hands down the best and easiest to work with. Joni is very knowledgeable, organized, trustworthy and fun to work with. She communicates the process beautifully. Her meetings and emails are on time, well organized, and informative. Joe and his crew are professional, knowledgeable, punctual, clean (almost no dust, I'm not exaggerating!!), and a pleasure to work with. We have existing red oak floors on most of the first floor and we laced in new red oak to the kitchen remodel and dining room. We chose to wire brush and to use a Loba Oil finish mainly due to how well that finish can hold up to our our family of 4 and 2 dogs. The original floor is 20 years old and the living room area was laced in about 10 years ago so we were working with 3 different batches of wood that ended up reacting differently to the oil. Joe was quick communicate that the application was not going as planned, came up with alternatives to overcome the issue, consulted with several sales reps to come up with as many alternate solutions as he could, then worked all weekend to complete the job. The jury is still out as to whether the end product is what we had in mind because we did have to compromise on the color due to how the existing floors reacted NOT DUE TO ANYTHING ARTISTIC FLOOR BY DESIGN DID. We have together agreed to take a break from trying to figure it out and reconvene when the rest of the project is done so we can actually see how the floors will look once everything else is complete. I have no doubt that Joe will not settle for just ok and will not rest until we LOVE the floor. I would, without a doubt, recommend Artistic Floor by design to anyone looking to either refinish or install hardwood flooring.
