I'm obsessed with Lena and her craft! She is definitely San Diego's best lip blush artist and recommend her to everyone and will continue. Went 2 years ago and just did a touch up to freshen up the color today! It's sad people are so blind to see Lena is pure and has an amazing personality... just because people communicate differently does not mean they are rude or unprofessional. I look up to her moving here from another country and following her heart. She works hard to provide a beautiful life for her family! You deserve all the success!!!!
Lena is the BEST!!!! I absolutely love my lips. I am very precise and picky about beauty treatments and I am so happy I came across her lip blushing page @artistry_by_lena on Instagram because her work is so beautiful. I told her the color shade that I was after and she understood and delivered! My lips are naturally pale and my lip fillers made them even more pale, but Lena's magic has transformed my lips! I will post my picture of before Lena on the left and then immediately after my touch up on the right. Im in love!!! Thank you!!!!!!! She also does eyeliner tattoo and scar camouflage so I am sure I will be back soon
I saw Lena for lip blush within the past year - so this is a bit overdue - but she was amazing!! I always felt my lips were a little pale for my skin tone, so when I discovered that lip blushing was even a thing, I was super excited to get it done. I did some research and checked out her work, and her results spoke for themselves (along with other client reviews & positive recommendations). Before booking my appointment, I reached out with a few questions, and she was very helpful and responsive. When I was ready to move forward, it was easy to book through her site, plus she provides all the details you need (tips for being prepared for your appointment, plus her policies, etc. were all communicated in advance). Fast forward to my appointment - her studio was bright & clean, and she was very pleasant & professional (and you can tell that she takes pride in what she does). She worked with me to pick out a shade, and took the time to explain the process and make sure I was comfortable. It was over before I knew it, and she provided clear aftercare instructions. Anddddd - me being me - I'm pretty sure I hit her up with a couple questions even after I left, and again, she was quick to reply. I went in for my touch up at the appropriate time, and once again had a great experience. Overall - I love the results - super glad I did it, and will definitely be back to see Lena when it's time. If you're thinking about doing this - I say go for it! And Lena is the best one to go to!!
Lip Blush Review: This was my first permanent makeup experience and I'm so glad I fount Artistry by Lena. We matched the perfect shade for my skin tone and the process was virtually painless. Sometimes it felt like a rubber band snapping on my lips but that didn't bother me at all. I've been wanting to get this done for a long time but I was always worried about my lip shape getting altered but the kept the shape of my lips and enhanced the color beautifully. Update: Came back for eyebrows and I LOVE them!!
I admired Lena's work on Instagram for over a year before I came in for lip blush appointment and my only regret is that I have waited that long! Lena has a true talent and is very gifted at what she does! Booking process was a breeze, and then at the appointment I felt comfortable with Lena right away. I have nothing but positive things to say about my experience with her. During the appointment Lena was sweet and professional, paid attention to my concerns, made sure to re-apply the numbing cream when my lips got sensitive and really took her time to perform the permanent makeup service.
Do yourself a favor & choose another PMU artist. There's sooo many awesome PMU artists in the area. Good work is important but you also want to work with someone who's nice & will value & respect you as a client. PMU is too expensive to sit uncomfortably for hours & get disrespected. I came home dissatisfied after our initial session but felt stuck with her because once you start PMU with one artist you have to pay full price to get it worked on by another. I know because I looked into it. That's how unsure I was about going back to her. So I committed myself to coming back for the touch up even though if she had fixed what I had asked her to in the initial session I probably wouldn't have had to come back & pay the $150 x2 for the lash liner & lips "touch ups", which was more like corrections..I had to mentally prepare myself for our second session to be ready to assert myself to get the results I was paying for. I had to advocate for myself repeatedly to get the color I wanted. It was difficult feeling heard by her. She seemed rushed & annoyed. I'm glad I pushed for adding the color I liked because contrary to what she thought, I actually knew what I wanted..She did do decent work and it didn't hurt that bad (the second time) but I wouldn't recommend going here if you're as obsessed with symmetry as I am & don't appreciate paying money to be disrespected. Make up can transform the face so if she can't correct alittle 'asymmetry' then she's obviously not much of an artist. That's the whole point of make up. She wasn't personable or patient. She was actually very mean & callous. I felt super uncomfortable advocating for what I wanted and that I was taking up too much of her time. It actually made me anxious which isn't a good combo when you're under the needle. She vented to me about various things while she worked on me including her experience at the dentist feeling like the dental assistants were annoyed by her concerns yet she made me feel the exact same way. At my initial visit I was trying to show her where I thought the lining wasn't symmetrical so I moved my lip to try to point it out and she snapped at me saying, "I can't see it with your lip like This!" in a mocking tone of voice. True story. Went home & told my spouse that I couldn't believe she spoke to me like that. I was ready to leave at that point so I just gave in. Luckily it was fixed at the mandatory 'touch up' (correction) visit that's $150 more (per area). Unfortunately I still don't think my upper lip or lash liner are as symmetrical as I'd like them to be. The arch can be higher on the right side of my upper lip & my left eye lash liner should be thicker to match the right one. She always had some sort of explanation as to why it wasn't looking how it should and it was always something to do with my skin. Zero accountability on her part. On top of all that, I asked her a question regarding the needles-if they are changed or sanitized-because I was just curious and she responded that it was "offensive". I apologized for offending her saying it was unintentional. Just an innocent question from someone who doesn't know how it all works. She doesn't give pre or post instructions with any information. So I had questions. It's not paranoia. It's just advocating for yourself as a client. You're paying for permanent make up that involves breaking the skin. It's a pretty big deal. I'd rather pay full price to get my stuff touched up by another PMU artist with better energy and hope it's actually done how I want it so I'm not forced to keep coming back for $150 touch ups until I'm satisfied. If she tried to have a more positive and relaxed attitude it would have been a much better experience. And from her responses to negative comments doesn't seem like she takes constructive criticism very well either. She actually accused me of "blackmail" for writing a negative review & threatened to take legal action against me. I don't think she knows what the definition of blackmailing is but false accusations like that is defamation of character and not okay. I suggest she seeks therapy to work on emotional regulation & accountability issues. And probably sort out her schedule so she's not all rushed & frazzled all the time. It's not a positive or comfortable atmosphere for her or her cliental. And it's absolutely never okay to use a mocking tone with clients or anyone for that matter. It's just rude. That has never happened to me in my entire life. Only narcissists can't accept error. I actually had to block her number because she started harassing me after seeing my review. Even bad mouthing me on social media. Also, it's pretty obvious her friends write reviews for her! So be weary of trusting those. Choose a PMU artist you want to come back to because the necessary follow up appointments (1+ years later) are less expensive if you continue with the same PMU artist.
Lena is an amazing artist! I was referred to her and I am so glad I chose Lena for my lip blush! She is very knowledgeable in her art...ask her anything! Her studio is clean and literally steps from the shore! Beautiful artist and beautiful location! Looking forward to my touch-up in 4 weeks!

I don't even know where to begin, Lena have the greatest vibes. "The art Institute" has to be the most cutest/dopest vintage tattoo shop I've seen in San Diego! I was a model for one of her students and wow I'm in love with my lips. I can't wait to train with Lena, from what I observed as I model I already love her training techniques. HIGHLY RECOMMEND LENA FOR LIP BLUSHING OR LIP BLUSH TRAINING

Lena is kind, patient, respectful, honors what she says. She takes her time. Makes sure you're comfortable. Applies extra pain stuff. Use sterile safe equipment. And very trustworthy. She always listens to what I want and always fulfills. Highly recommend
Highly satisfied with service and the healed result! I got the brows and lips done, and both turned out perfect! I was really worried about the color, especially brows, since I'm blond! But Lena worked with me on choosing the color and shape! She pre-draws the lips and brows before, and makes sure you're completely satisfied first! She did mix different colors together to make sure we get the color that I like! The best felling is waking up, abs having most of make up done already! I just put mascara on abs that's it! You'll not regret it!
I recommend lip blush tattoos and Lena wholeheartedly!! Mornings are crazy busy for me and having one less beauty routine to do helps so much! I appreciate her fast and open communication, she never has had a problem with any questions I've had. She does such a natural job too, nobody ever knows that I've had a lip tattoo until I tell them.

I was looking for someone who could help me with my brows, and Lena did such an amazing job! It took me forever to shape and fill them every day, and now they look just perfect! I'm now saving my time every morning, no need to do that anymore. The procedure itself was almost painless, and took less than two hours. Lena took her time to explain everything, and to give tips for the post procedure care which was really helpful. Permanent makeup really makes your life easier, just make sure you are in good hands like Lena's :) Thank you so much for my beautiful brows! read more

Every busy girl is struggling with morning makeup routine, I was there too until I met Lena, after yelp research I found the right person to trust my eyebrows! It's not a secret that Russian girls know better some permanent makeup techniques that's why Lena was my the only choice: professional, talented, precise and just an amazing person to work with. Now I have extra 15 minutes everyday with my ready-to-go new eyebrows. We did 2 sessions and I have no doubt that I'll be doing it again with Lena next time! I've done my first round of lip blush with Lena and she absolutely nailed the color and look I wanted to achieve! She was very attentive and detail-oriented in making sure I got exactly what I wanted, and made changes to the shape as I asked. Not only is she skilled in her craft, but she was incredibly personable and kind. Lena did an amazing job with my eyebrows! She seems like a true professional. She took her time to accurately measure and mark my eyebrows initially then started the procedure. She explained and showed that she uses brand new needles so I was at ease knowing that it's all clean. She made me feel comfortable and she's friendly too! Overall I was very happy with the result! She explained the after care process and made herself available for additional questions in the future. Lena does a great job with permanent make up. Highly recommended! read more

I've always wanted to get semi permanent powdered brows but I was too hesitant. Lena did an ANAZING job! She made me feel super comfortable and detailed every step in the procedure as it happened.
