I truly hit the jackpot when I found Wendy 18 years ago and I can't imagine going anywhere else. She exceeds my expectations and the results are amazing. My hair is naturally black and I get red highlights. Wendy does my highlights without ever bleaching my hair! I also have frizzy hair that is very hard to manage, and getting the keratin treatment has made my life easier on a daily basis and my hair is extremely healthy. I get compliments all the time! She has a real skill and passion for making women feel beautiful and I leave the salon feeling gorgeous every single time. The salon I went to was huge and lots of assistants had their hands on my head/applying chemicals etc. at this salon it is 2 sisters and they are METICULOUS. These girls understand the chemistry of hair color and the biology of good hair. Not to mention very artistic with color application. My last dye job was so bad the color was running in the bowl. These girls undid the damage so beautifully. Went layer by layer and adjusted the color as necessary. Got rid of the orange and put in a nice auburn. I'm not sure how to add before and after photos but they have them. These sisters know what they are doing and they have earned my business for life. PS Nina showed me how uneven my previous cut was, which I had not noticed before. Because the old stylist had flipped the ends when blow drying it, I could not really see the layers. Nina however, with a few snips gave me an incredible haircut. Small change just evened out one layer, which had just been cut at the old salon. but the whole head of hair lay much much better afterwards. Watching them work was impressive.

She even shared helpful tips on how to maintain the style at home. Despite my late arrival, I was out by 11:18. The whole experience was efficient, pleasant, and professional. I was surprised that my hair weren't shampooed at all during my service. I did a perm so he rinsed my hair a couple times.. but no shampoo before or after. It smells (like dirty towels) and the location got contact with it felt itchy afterwards the smell from the dirty towel remains on my neck as well until I shower at home this should never happen at a four dollar sign salon. Besides that, the store was clean and quiet. My appointment was 1PM - 4 PM. Only two people were working at that time--the two owners. Tbh it was the first time I saw a hairdresser do everything himself--all the preparation, cut, perming, washing, etc. The limitation of staff resulted in lack of attentiveness. During the perm, the medicine touched my face, and overall the experience was not up to the standard. I really hope that they can improve because hair coco has lots of potentials.

That level of professionalism really stood out. Her hands were so light and gentle, and I felt relaxed the whole time. She also shared helpful tips for styling my thinning hair. We had great conversation, she recommended lunch spots, and even offered coffee. Truly a 10-star experience. Thank you, Amy, for making me feel confident and refreshed again!

It takes a long time for me to find one who can actually achieve my desired outcome... and I think I found one stylist who actually exceeded my expectations. Amy takes a good look at your inspiration photo, and she would give you her professional opinion whether it suits your faceshape, and hair texture. She would tell you the possible outcome if she was to proceed with such style. Even if your face shape is not the same as the model in the photo, she would adjust the cut so that you could have the similar or better outcome that suits you. Sometimes when a different stylist cuts my hair short, it usually doesn't grow quite nicely. But when Amy cut my hair short (above shoulders) my hair grew beautifully even when it already passed my mid back. I just came back to her to get my hair colored. She trimmed my hair, got rid of the damage parts, gave me an awesome scalp massage and shared tips on how to style my thinning hair. She also shared some knowledge about hair care, and certain things to do specially for hair. The color was on point and evenly distributed. She also would check on my well-being and would ask if my scalp was feeling okay.. Now my thin hair somehow looks fuller and also looks healthier. She also gave me some cookies and prepared me some green tea. Amy is a rare talent indeed. Her years of experience & expertise clearly shows in her work. Great customer service with an amazing vibe. I think Amy has magic hands!

5/2/25: Yelp seems to have a photo issue. To see all screenshots and harassment, my Google Guide…read morereview includes those: https://g.co/kgs/LttMo7h While I did not fully read this business owner's rambling, incoherent response, I did scan it briefly and saw she suggested that she told me to see a dermatologist. Interesting since I've long had one and use prescription shampoo from my dermatologist at my hair appointments. A cosmetology license would be useful, and might teach this unlicensed stylist that spreading lies about a person's health online is additional grounds for harassment charges. This is the last warning I will give before contacting law enforcement. I also would never take medical advice from a self-professed conspiracy theorist who by her own admission does not vaccinate her children, during a time when measles is spreading in the U.S, more than we've seen in decades -- an outbreak that began due to unvaccinated children in Texas. I was not going to elaborate on the damage, but seems I should. My LICENSED hair stylist friend had to remove glue out of most of my hair. I have photos and videos of my hair previously -- before this unlicensed stylist talked me into trying a frontal. I have new hair loss all over my head because the glue was extremely difficult to remove, See attached photo. The frontal install was terrible and showed lack of skill because my real hair was not protected. My licensed hair stylist friend is willing to testify about this damage and said he knew this person was unlicensed by the terrible frontal/sew-in install. Now off to enjoy my weekend! I originally did not share all of my documentation but this person seems unhinged. I will let the evidence speak for itself. I am done with this unlicensed stylist -- unless it becomes clear I need to contact law enforcement and file for for a peace order, which I'm seriously considering. I will include the screenshots from her last unhinged response if I do so. Potential customers: Ask yourself if this is the temperament you want in a hair stylist -- someone willing to slander clients online for telling the truth about how they were treated. -- 5/1/25 Adding additional screenshots to refute more lies from this business owner, who continues to not take accountability. I will not reply further, as a "business" that operates this way is not worth my time. The way she speaks says more than any additional info I can provide.

My wife went to Bubbles Salon in Columbia at 8am with clear inspiration photos and a very simple…read morerequest: a dimensional blonde with warmer, slightly darker tones, including lowlights and highlights to add depth. Her hair was already a light ashy champagne blonde with fresh root growth and a solid base. She intentionally left it alone so there would be zero confusion about the goal. We were fully prepared to pay for quality work. She expected over $300 for the service and was ready to tip about the same. She factored in processing time, toning, even test strands if needed. With her starting point and today's hair trends, this should have been a straightforward appointment for any experienced colorist. Instead, she spent five hours in a chair watching her hair get worse in real time. A shadow root was attempted and applied so poorly it looked almost black against her blonde and had to be corrected. Her hair was then highlighted in multiple rounds, and somehow still ended up yellow, brassy, and completely untoned. At no point did the result resemble the reference photos she brought in. Iman told her he "can't make her hair thicker," which had nothing to do with anything she asked for. She never requested thicker hair, she requested color placement. That comment honestly felt like the theme of the entire appointment: not listening, not understanding, and then reframing the confusion as if it was coming from her. When I came in, this happened again and they basically tried to blame her not being clear which offended me greatly as I know she had the reference picture ready to go. I would have respected it more if the stylist just admitted she messed up, instead of blaming it on my wife. Billy, a senior stylist, told her she should just do it herself. That alone should tell you everything about the level of professionalism here. She was also told her hair didn't match the reference because it wasn't styled, which is an unbelievable excuse when the issue was color, tone, and placement, not curls and volume. She was even handed a color book mid-appointment as if she hadn't already provided clear visual references. There was no manager on site when she asked. By the end, she left with yellow, uneven, brassy hair that didn't resemble her starting point or her request in any way. She went to another salon afterward, where they were immediately confused by what had been done and suggested corrective work. The entire experience felt disorganized, dismissive, and careless. She came in ready to pay for professional results and left with something she wouldn't have expected from a beginner trying it at home. We did not pay for the service, and we will not be returning. The most frustrating part is how easily this could have been avoided with basic honesty at the start. If this was outside their skill set, that should have been said before five hours of trial-and-error damage control.

I had asked the price to begin with because I don't like being surprised and sometimes they try to add on things later and the price ends up being more than agreed. The hairdresser was a Spanish woman in her 40s or 50s maybe and she said she was not familiar with a roller set and that already didn't sound good since she acted like she had never heard of it. She said she is more familiar with blow-dry so I said ok. She ended up cutting more than expected like a lot more and said it needed a trim. I specifically said very small trim and she said ok, I barely touched it, but somehow afterwards it was a lot shorter. After a year later, my hair was not even at the length it was when I got there. Also, it was weird that she tried to say we were done after a blow-dry and I had to basically repeat a few times that the straightening was included in the price she discussed so why was she saying we were done if she hadn't done it. I had to ask a few times to straighten it which I thought was common sense and then I had to even ask again for some type of body since I had originally asked for a blow out and she went from completely straight now with no bump at the end or anything like straight down and barely look like you went to a hair salon. After I had to ask to add some type of curls or waves and maybe that would help her get body, she tried that and it helped a little but at that point, the hair was much shorter and barely had some curls. I still had much shorter hair than if I were to not have gotten my hair done there and it was a year later.

I have tried most brands at Ulta and when I discovered DevaCurl, I knew I was starting to see the light! A quick look on the DevaCurl website and I discovered they had specialist dedicated ONLY to curly girls. I was beyond excited! Fast forward a couple of days and a flurry of texts to my friends, I came across Diane for Curls in Columbia, MD and with two referrals from my friend's cousins, I made an appointment. While she has a great schedule, she is uber popular and typically books in 2 hour increments for the first appointment - we scheduled about 2 months in advance. Diane was completely thorough and super responsive via email. She was incredibly detailed as I gave her my daughters hair type, pics of her hair, what we hope to achieve, and her current list of products. Diane recommended reading the Curly Handbook (A MUST!) as well as some do's and don't's to prepare for the upcoming appointment. I walked in the salon with my daughter thinking I had a decent knowledge of what I was doing to her hair and I was shocked to find out while I was starting to grasp what my daughter's hair needed, my daughter's hair needed so much more. The first thing Diane did when we sat down is she spoke to my 9 year old about what SHE wanted. And I greatly appreciated that, after all it is her hair and not mine. We spent about 1.5 hours talking curly hair, products, washing procedures etc. My daughter left with vibrant bouncy well moisturized curls and a confidence boost. I left my head full of knowledge and another appointment in June to see her again. This is the start of something special - curly girls rock!!! Now can someone help me find a place to do a body wave? ;)
