You're taken back into a different time, when nothing else mattered but great food and an ambiance to match. The owner is so knowledgeable and approachable. You can clearly see her passion for food, and baking. She's studied in both France and Italy. The Josephine Baker with Nutella, Bananas and Rum is a HUGE must! What a pleasant surprise this little restaurant is. I felt like Alice in Wonderland walking in. Like I was transported into someone's quaint living room. There is so much to marvel at while dining here. But what makes this place so special is the food. The bread was scrumptious. Freshly baked and it tastes it. We ordered sandwiches that really hit the spot and I would definitely come back to have again. We also happened to come in on a happy hour on a Saturday after an art walk through Little Haiti, and the wine was very fairly priced. It was also super lively and a really fun atmosphere. The service was on the slower side but the owner made up for it with charm and they also were understaffed for such a large event due to extraneous reasons. read more

If you are in Florida it is worth the drive to Artpie... yeah, I mean anywhere in Florida...it is worth the drive. My next step is to figure out the way to ship them to St. Pete to feed my new addiction. The store front is deceptive....don't drive by; don't be fooled...it is the tip of the iceberg of "deliciocity" in continental proportions. Every pie is art....both aesthetically and more important the flavor is palette shattering! 5 Stars for tasty, sweet or savory, large pastries. How would I describe an Artpie? It's kind of an empanada, meets a hand-pie, meets a dumpling. That's clear enough, right? It's a folded pastry filled with meat, or veggies, or delicious sweet goodies. Thank goodness for hand-held food! I had the pleasure of grabbing a few of these at the Parkland Farmers Market a few months ago and was impressed! The staff was awesome and super helpful. There are sooo many flavors available (beef, pork, chicken, vegetarian, vegan, sweet) and each one is named after a historical woman. It can be overwhelming to choose, so I appreciated their suggestions. I ordered so many that they threw in another one on-the-house. Lovely! My favorite was the Celia Cruz (Guava, Cream Cheese, Sugar and Monique´s Special Seasoning Blend). I have quite a sweet tooth and this was like a guava and cheese pastelito meets a baked empanada- I was here for it! These can get pretty messy, and the inside is lava-hot when you get it, so I recommend piercing it first and letting it cool down a bit. I tried a few savory Artpies that were all FABULOUS. It's clear these are created by a French-trained pastry chef! The only one that didn't hit the mark for me was the Boudicca (Organic Ground Beef, Olives, Flour and Monique´s Special Seasoning Blend). It was extremely dry and the olive flavor was so strong it was all you could taste. I'm a fan of olives, but I would give this ne a skip next time. Otherwise, you can't go wrong! Artpie serves up some delicious Argentina style empanadas. They are located in Miami but I found them in the Parkland Farmers Market. I'm a sucker for empanadas and these were on point. They had a nice clean set-up at the farmers market. The service was a delight. Friendly and helpful. They offer over two dozen types of sweet, savory and vegan empanadas all made with organic ingredients. They've given each empanada a cute names like, grace kelly, cleopatra, julia child. I chose the boudicca a hearty beef empanada. They could warm it up for you if you're eating it there. I took mine to go and was given heating instructions. Beautiful place! Love everything about it the decor is amazing g! They have a big Versace table that I'm in love with and the chairs are so regal you feel like royalty when you sit at the table! The food is amazing so intricate, delicate and different! They're like empanadas but French style and great taste! They have sweet ones and savory ones I suggest you try both! I've tried ARTPIE a couple of times. They usually come to the West Palm Beach Farmers Market, but I also went to the Miami location. Very interesting assortment of empanadas with some fun names. The Miami location is almost hard to find, nestled in the arts district. I was there for the Banksy exhibit which was a lot of fun and this was one of the few eateries nearby in walking distance. The interior of the place is small, but there is a diving area. The flavors of these empanadas are intense and they have a lot of different flavors. Overall a nice stop for a quick bite! read more

I tried ARTPIE at the WPB Green Market today. Perhaps it wasn't the most accurate depiction of their normal service. They left my boyfriend's in the oven for a long time, so we inquired. They admitted they forgot it was in there and apologized. I chalk it up to the busyness of the market crowd. I sampled one that had sweet corn, bechamel, and cheese. I found the herbs too overpowering. We went for the Eleanor Roosevelt in the end, which is simply mozzarella and spinach. It was very good. Generously filled with cheese and spinach and nicely seasoned on top. They have about 40 kinds! Perfect for vegetarians and meat lovers alike. read more

For a long time I've been on a quest to find a scrumptious, toe curling juicy empanada. Incredibly living in Latin America(soflo) I've been unable to find one. But this day the stars were aligned in my favor. While driving on Biscayne blvd I did a random yelp search and The Empanada Lady(TEL) popped up. I nearly passed them up being they only had a few reviews, but one of the reviews was from my yelp buddy Elana M. and she 5 starred them. My only other concern was that all of the reviews were referencing TEL at local farmers markets. So I called to make sure they had a brick and mortar location as listed on yelp. I popped in today to try them out. When I arrived I was pleasantly surprised to find out that all the empanadas were organic with many vegan and vegetarian options. I had a pleasant conversation with the owner Monique, who was born in Houston, but sounded like she grew up in an Italian Alpine village. She informed me that she learned to become a pastry chef in France and Italy. But she's not just a pastry chef, she's a master pâtissière, she's also passionate and full of love for her craft. There's a time in life when you encounter that special something or someone that makes you fall in love with life. My encounter started with the "Joan of Arc" - Organic Chicken Breast, Chili, Peppers, Olives, Flour and Monique's Special Seasoning Blend. After the first bite, I knew heaven could be created on earth. After the second bite, I experienced a culinary epiphany. After the third bite, I knew Monique was an Avatar of Dhanvatari who carries Amrita, the ambrosia of the gods. This is what I live for, creations of beauty that nourish & enliven the mind body and soul. I walked right back in and bought one of their sugar-free natural sodas and I decided to try their Audrey Hepburn - "mushrooms & mozzarella" and the "Josephine Baker" - Banana, Rum, Nutella, Nuts and Monique's Special Seasoning Blend. I thought this place was a pleasant surprise. It's a tiny establishment, HIDDEN in the upper eastside/Little River area. I never had "artpie" before, so this was a first, but it was pretty good. I had the Mata Hari, Grace Kelly, Frida Khalo and the Josephine Baker for dessert. This was actually a lot of food as they may look tiny, but they're pretty filling. I liked all of the above, but my favorite was the Mata Hari. I'd definitely go again and try some of their breakfast artpies. The place is hard to find, but it does have parking in front. Unfortunately one of the lesser satisfying empanadas I've had. The flavor is not great and $6 an empanada is rather expensive. The empanada is served cold, even after being heated. I was underwhelmed. The flavors sound unique and like they'll be great but are subpar. Don't think I'd recommend. I had the onion and cheese one and the bechamel corn one. The Spanish chorizo is the most popular and after tasting and I now know why. It was so good I ordered four more pies to take home and delight my family. So my neighbor is a professional caterer. She works for high end country clubs etc and she gave me two banana nutella empanadas last week. She told me to heat them up in the oven at 350 degrees for about 6 minutes. OMG these were the most amazing desserts I ate them both! I don't normally like chocolate but the combination with the banana was outstanding. I also loved the dough the empanada was made with. It was soft and thin, not dry or flaky. I wish this store was closer so I could try more of what they have to offer. If you live nearby I highly suggest you go there. read more

I stopped into ARTPIE about a week ago to pick up some empanadas. I saw online they had a ton of vegetarian options, and my mom gave me a $10 towards a $20 purchase certificate. I ordered 3 vegetarian empanadas. I hope you'll forgive me for not knowing the official names, but I know I ordered the Caprese, Brie and onion, and roasted red pepper and exotic cheese. The roasted red pepper and exotic cheese was delicious! It was reminiscent of a Stromboli and I would definitely not mind having it again. The Brie and caprese were rather underwhelming. The Brie was oily and the tomatoes in the caprese were not cohesive with the remainder of the empanada. Moreover, the empanadas are rather overpriced at $6. I went to this place today and order 3 empanadas, i dont remeber the names now but one had quinoa, one chicken, and the last was beef and spicy. First, the customer service was awful.. I enter the place wanting coffe so first thing i asked was if they had espresso and the lady said yes. I order a double espresso and she asked if i wanted regular which i didnt undertand because espressos have one size only but okay i said yes, then i asked for cream to make iced coffee and she said she had it but the "cream" she brought a box out that said almond with something else, she served the coffee but left it there sitting in the machine. I then order my empanadas and she took about 10 min to get my order ready and she left the coffee there just sitting... After all i told her i didnt wanted the coffee because it was not what i asked for so she got mad and started giving me attitude which made me very unconfortable, i proceed to paid for the empanadas and left. Got homer and yes, the chicken empanada was good but not worth the $6 and the costumer service i had to put on with. the chicken one was okay but extremly spicy and i eat spicy and que quinua one was okay. These empanadas were delicious. I picked up the Mata Hari because it was recommended as the most popular, and it was very yummy- good layers and balanced ingredients. I picked up two others for later because one was enough to fill me up for lunch. These empanadas are not cheap, but they are also not your gas station empanadas. I did have a bit of sticker shock when I was told my three would cost $18, but they were absolutely delicious, and yes, I would buy again in a heartbeat. I bought two of these empanadas at the Farmers Market and when I was told I owed $12, I nearly died. Mind you, I'm not a cheapskate but not only are they terribly overpriced, but my empanada which didn't taste organic AT ALL, had human hair in it: not one, but two pieces. It was supposed to be a cheese and Spanish sausage mixed, but all I could think about where that hair came from. I pulled them out and placed them on a napkin with the rest of it and didn't even get an apology or a refund from the vendor. My wife's empanada was a mixture of freeze dried shrimps, similar to those used in cheap, cheap Chinese restaurants. They were hard and the seasoning was extremely hot and inedible. I guess this outfit considers human hair organic. I wonder if they pass their health inspections. I would have preferred donating the $12 to a homeless man asking for money down the street. If these empanadas were the last thing to eat in the world, I would prefer to starve from hunger. If these empanadas are organic, I am the Pope. read more
