I didn't know this store existed. I happen to be walking by and I could smell the incense and some of the jewelry and bracelets caught my eye so I walked in, and there was a lot of wonderful things. I ended up buying some roll on oil perfume and some earrings for a friend. The guys were really friendly at the counter and I even had them help me pick out some earrings for my friend by showing them a picture of her. The energy in there was really good and you could tell that they were really happy to be there that they enjoyed working with people and that they loved their store. Definitely going to go back to get more things.

My daughter in law had waist beads and I thought they were really cute so when we got to Oakland she took me to this store. The lady who helped us was super knowledgeable and friendly. My daughter-n-law has a relationship with her so it was nice for the two of them to catch up. So far I am enjoying my waste beads, they help me be mindful of how much I am eating.

I was searching for a gift for a friend's 70th birthday and found this place after an internet search. It had two different addresses on Yelp, so I called. The guy who answered the phone (Dominic) said they're located at 5755 Christie in Emeryville. This place is amazing! Lots of fabulous inventory from all over the continent. I found a beautiful necklace at an affordable price. Shoutout to Dominic and Arts Africains. My only complaint? They should relocate closer to my home in Oakland.

BEWARE SCAMMERS ‼‼ On November 19, 2022 I purchased 4 waist beads for $15 each the total was $66.30. A few days later I noticed a charge to my credit card for $6630.10! I immediately disputed the charge with my bank and sent in my original receipt however this company created a fake receipt and sent it to the bank. The fake receipt only said "custom" and did not show any details of what was allegedly purchased for $6k. I escalated to the bank and they immediately noticed major discrepancies between my original receipt and the merchants fake receipt and are starting a new investigation with their senior fraud investigators. If you must shop here pay in CASH and keep a copy of your original receipt forever!

Three of my friends, ranted and raved about this store, so I had to check it out! As we walked closer, you could smell all the beautiful, incense, and not overwhelming, but a pleasant smell! They had lotions, essential oils, and sage bundles within the store, as well as handcrafted, jewelry, hats, clothes, as well as fabric and purses!! Something for everyone!! I love the African culture and all the stories that go along with it! The lady that was in the store had a beautiful accent as well, and she was incredibly helpful in showing us how certain items fit such as a necklace, and where it should lay on your body. I definitely recommend this store!!!

New location will open May 1st they have the absolute best items and they are full of love

Walking into the store is like walking into a museum. The arrangement of the items is art in itself. Pure joy.

Extremely disappointing and unprofessional experience with the West Elm Emeryville store,…read morespecifically with Lana, the store manager. I own a design-build firm and was working on furnishing a 3-bedroom, 2-bath home in San Francisco. The plan was to purchase most of the furniture new, with West Elm and CB2 as the main vendors under consideration. Aside from a Saarinen table and a few rugs I already had available for styling, nearly everything else was going to be sourced new. I booked an appointment earlier in the week for Friday afternoon and adjusted other appointments to make that time work. Then, on Friday morning, Lana called and immediately launched into a very rude and dismissive conversation about the appointment. Rather than asking thoughtful questions or trying to understand the scope of the project, she made it clear that they did not want to come out if I was not guaranteed to buy something. She said they keep the option open in case it is "not worth their time." That was incredibly off-putting, especially considering I was already styling the home with West Elm pieces and seriously considering West Elm for a large portion of the furnishing package. As a design-build professional, I work with many vendors, and this is not how serious trade or retail relationships are handled. When I explained that the short timing, the disruption to my schedule, and the lack of professional communication reflected poorly on West Elm, Lana was dismissive again and said I had already made my feelings clear. Immediately after hanging up, she sent the appointment cancellation. The issue is not just that the appointment was cancelled. It is the tone, the assumption that my project was not worth their time, and the complete lack of professionalism from a store manager. Based on other recent reviews, poor customer service does not seem to be an isolated experience at this location or with West Elm more broadly. I was prepared to source a meaningful amount of furniture through West Elm, but this interaction made it clear that I should take the business elsewhere. I would not recommend the Emeryville store for designers, builders, or customers expecting professional service.

I used to visit to find that hidden gem or get inspired to transform a piece of unwanted item into a functional item like a planter or garden art. This place is great for a DIYer or handy man as items have so much potential but can be a bit overwhelming if you're looking for something specific. My recent visit was to find a replacement window for a mini table-top greenhouse I put together about 15 years ago. Unfortunately, after a recent windstorm, 1 window broke and needed to be replaced. The original windows I bought were from a salvage/building resource spot in SF. At the time, buying 6 windows cost me $70 at most. Now (15 years later) for the same quality it will cost you $35-$60/window at Urban Ore. Ouch! I guess these windows may be used for a remodel of an older home. They do have another section for cheaper windows but sadly they look like the one I'm trying to replace...some wood rot, flimsy, peeling and weathered as they're not protected from the elements. Staff outside are friendly and helpful. Worth a stop to check out but some pricing on items a bit higher. Parking inside the gate and along the street.

These item had been donated to you with the understanding that you would do your best to keep their processions out of the landfill - you failed miserably. I took my concerns to social media - mostly the huge "buy nothing groups" that operate in Berkeley. People were disgusted but not surprised by Claudio's behavior - we've all watched for decades how he sells the best tools to his friends in his tool corral. Many have also noticed his illegal use of THOUSANDS of white post office tubs - that alone shows us his (and by default) Urban Ore's ethics. One last thing - comments were ignored on your Facebook page - messages were ignored - I realize that someone at Urban Ore hopes this would just blow over - it hasn't and it won't - people are disappointed in Urban Ore's attitude. Personally, after having bought thousands of dollars worth of items from you over a twenty year period I would say this comes down to the bad attitude of your store manager - over the years I have met many of your staff members who obviously believed in "zero waste" - they have all quit but the guy in charge of the shop floor obviously thinks it's just a catchy slogan to get people to give you their stuff for free.

They've got so many choices and it was really hard to narrow it down but we ended up going with the Vihals 6-drawer dresser. We saw it in the showroom, took a picture of where in the warehouse it would be, and once we got to the bottom floor it was a breeze. What wasn't a breeze was putting the darn thing together. 3-hrs on a Sunday to build this dresser was no easy task but we made it happen. If there's one feedback, I think written versions of the instructions would be more helpful. The pictures aren't always clear cut and sometimes it's hard to know left from right. Maybe it's user error but some verbiage of instructions would've gone a long way. We opted to skip the food court this time around because our last few times eating there it just wasn't as good as it used to be. After checkout though, they have a meatball sundae, which comes with 3 meatballs, mashed potatoes, and their berry sauce. It's a solid snack for $2.50ish. Their spicy mustard actually paired well with everything. I had the lowest of low expectations but actually it was quite nice to tide me over until we made it to actual lunch.
