I used to live in Harlem. All I had to do was walk a few blocks to 125th and I could get my mango butter, shea butter, incense, soap, and oils at wholesale prices while supporting local vendors. Since I moved back to Cali, I would have friends ship me products from Harlem, because I knew what I was getting and the price point with mail still made it more affordable, until I came here and left with handmade perfumes (oil base), bundles of incense, and my mango and shea butters. I think I now have a bit more bounce in my step. So grateful. read more

Thanks to Lola G, who posted the new address at 5600 MLK, so I didn't go to the wrong address. Just picked-up some Black Soap a week or so ago. Wanted to make sure I liked it before I completed the review. Loving it, consistency & smell are on point. Going to go back for a few more bars. Definitely worth the drive for me. This is my go-to spot for my other "beauty accessories" black soap, shea butter, body oils etc. ***FLASHBACK*** a friend of mines turned me on to this shop when we were in high school(10+yrs ago) they had a body oil that we swore by called Butt Naked, it smelled good then but not so much anymore. They now have a new scent called Michelle Obama and it smells pretty good. I mught have to go back and buy a little bottle and see how it wears. Cute small mom and pop store. I go here for the Shea butter.... I leave having seen and smelled beautiful things which sometimes come home with me. I always have interesting and delightful conversations with people in the store, which is why I look forward to popping in when my Shea butter needs replenishing. Interestingly enough, that's not too often because a little tends to go a long way. **And it's this vibrant yellow color, which means all the good stuff hasn't been processed out of it.** The other night 3 different people commented on how soft my skin is! I gladly recommend this place to anyone who wants to hear people exclaiming about how beautiful and soft their skin is multiple times a week. Some of my scars are even fading! And I think it smells pretty awesome too but you can add essential oils if you want to spruce it up a bit. I like to mix it in another little jar with some coconut oil to help it spread a little easier. I've also made deodorant and lotion bars with it. I never use regular lotion on my skin anymore and a tub of this lasts way longer than a bottle of chemical filled lotion. Can you tell I love my Shea butter? I also love exploring this little shop and I think it's totally worth the stop in just to check out their various treasures. So, do it! And support a small business while you're at it :) read more

ATTENTION: New address is 5600 MLK Jr Way! (It's in the suite closest to MLK.) This shop has wonderful raw, unrefined shea butter (both the yellow kind with added palm oil and the pure tan shea butter). I love to make my own lotion & natural hair products, so shea butter is a necessity. My local shop suddenly closed, but this will be my new go-to! I met Sami's daughter-in-law who is very sweet and helpful. The building's parking lot was full when I went yesterday, but 56th St has plenty of free street parking. They also have a selection of bath salts, incense and other gifts. read more

I love going to this place. Super nice friendly people. They have incense 100 sticks for $5 and they smell great. They have bath salts that really smell and are super affordable, like two tubs for $5. They have Nubian Heritage products along with a lot of other organic beauty products. They have all kinds of oils and make fragrance oils for you to wear. Oh and they have shea butter and black soap. Cute local place. read more
