I was even more excited that we did not have to actually paddle the boat as the captain was able to maneuver without our help. It was very hot that day and I did not want to mess up my outfit. Two of the best perks were 1) being allowed to bring food and drinks due to them having built in coolers in the table area. There were also extra cooler bags brought by the hostess. 2) having a bathroom on board made for an even more comfortable experience. The staff assisted with taking pictures, making sure there was a speaker for music, and simply answering any questions we might have had while aboard. There is an option to give tips and I highly recommend having cash or venmo/cashapp options as it was worth every penny to tip them. Now after getting the boat home and checking the boat over it doesn't start, batteries are dead and some things don't work. So I call Chris to tell him my problems and it takes another 3-weeks to get my boat back. Of course it still does not run correctly on the water after spending $4500 and instead of taking it back, I do some research and find a bad fuel pump. So I repair the boat and then Labor Day weekend my boat sinks because of a faulty new bilge or faulty new overflow switch. Boat is a total loss! My suggestion, take your boat somewhere else!

My Stratos bass…read moreboat has a 1999 Evinrude Ficht 150 (I know, run right?) and my Proline 23 Sport has a Mercury Optimax 225 Saltwater. Chris and the guys at Dockside have done a GREAT job keeping my Ficht running VERY well. So well that I get compliments how good it sounds and runs. And when the Optimax needs service, it's always done right! Only time old parts were laying in the well is so they could show me what the problem was. And even then the parts were in a ziplock bag so they wouldn't dirty my boat. I see no reason to have anyone else service my Evinrude or Mercury.

Our cruise was quite full, so I would recommend getting their around 20 minutes early if you have a preference of where you sit. The ticket prices felt very fair as they were about $15 each for a 45 minute ride. It is in the heart of downtown so its mainly street parking, there is a paid lot slightly further down that is 12 dollars for the day. The cruise itself is fun as you float down the canal and learn more about the history in the area. We went around 3pm which was the perfect time as it wasn't too hot but still sunny enough to enjoy. While I had a great time, I think it was more so a novel experience. The ride felt a bit short with the sights remaining quite consistent since the canal is small/short. I don't think I would do it again as it would feel repetitive, but for the first time canal cruiser I think they would have a great time!

The whole ride was really chill, and our tour guide shared some interesting facts about Richmond that I didn't even know after living here for a couple years.
