Because I was listening I stopped and turned around to ask if I can get a day pass or not and then the girl quickly says no. I felt very odd and I am pretty sure it had something to do with the melanin in my skin though I'm hoping that's not the case. The look on their faces these you know these kids were just something just didn't feel right and I'm disappointed. I left feeling sad. This also gave me the impression that if I would've signed up for a membership I'd be denied it. ‍

They have a vendor who cooks hot dogs and burgers on the side and I believe he sells sodas, water, ice cream, chips, and other snacks. There are bathrooms and a single shower. They have a ton of life guard watching your every move but you know it's for a good reason ;) They even have two diving boards on the deep side of the pool. Keep in mind, you cannot use any inflatable items in the big pool. I think the floaties are allowed in the baby pool only.

Originally…read moredeveloped as part of the expansion North along the newly expanded streetcar line, this recreation association acts as a summer cultural and social gathering spot for the residents of Ginter Park and surrounding neighborhoods. The building is a beautiful Arts and Crafts/Shingle Style building that was originally used as a school and meeting house/town hall. It is now the main club house for the GPRA. I personally join the pool each summer as it provides me with an escape from the daily grind. There are three pools. An adult, kids, and wading pool. There are nice gas grills and a raised sun deck. Bathrooms with showers are also provided for pool users. You can even bring a cooler of cold adult beverages! The clubhouse is nicely landscaped and kept up on the outside but lacks central air conditioning and is thus always hot in the summer. It is available for private parties for members. Membership is relatively affordable and rates ban be seen on line. There is also a swim team called the Dolphins. It is both child and adult friendly. Many 20 and 30 something singles hang out by the adult pool and there is a festive party atmosphere on weekends, the pools are even open until 10pm on Saturday. Single membership is a one time fee of $350 and a family membership one time initiation is $580.

A social summer gathering spot that is kid friendly, unpretentious, and located in a lovely, quiet neighborhood setting. Best feature is the swimming pools (there are four!!) which are kept impeccably clean, as is the rest of the nicely landscaped property. Pools are open from late May through (September- Labor Day). The club has really stepped up its game with the 2018 expansion of the lap pool to 8 lanes and renovating bleacher seating. Snack bar is good, but cash only. Food is as better than you would expect for a poolside snack bar, and super convenient poolside. Lifeguards are attentive & on duty at all times, which is reassuring. They are also very courteous and friendly. The guards manning the diving pool even engage the kids in an entertaining game called "categories" as they jump off the board. Kids love it. There are 9 lighted tennis courts to choose from. All are in spectacular shape. I particularly like courts 8 & 9, which are nestled inside the woods, and great for shade if you catch at the right time. Though the bathrooms/showers/changing rooms are dated, they are kept very tidy. Amenities are numerous: 1. 8 lane lap Pool, with diving blocks 2. Family pool, with two tunnel slides 3. The family that started it donated the land 52 years ago and with the help of volunteers they created something for the neighborhood to use and enjoy. Now the pool is 52, so she's no spring chicken. She has laugh lines and character that show she has been loved. The people that run the pool are all volunteers and it's the kind of place that you can come and make it what you want it to be! The membership is very reasonable and they have a kiddy poi and an awesome diving board. Bring your cooler, but know that they do have a small snack bar to get an ice cream or something else while you are there. Really there is nothing better than a community pool. A place where you can go and know you and your kids will be safe and people look after each other because people make a place and this one is pretty amazing!

Here's my impression after the first week: Signing up for membership was challenging. The price we were quoted over the phone was different than what we were told when we showed up to join. And actually we had an appointment with the membership director and he was on vacation and everyone from membership was gone so one of the front desk attendants gave us a tour. They also gave us a pass to the weekend to make up for the debacle. When we showed up on Saturday we met with someone in membership and that's when the pricing changed because what we were quoted only covered 3 people. So we paid extra for the fourth and our fifth couldn't join because the cost of their membership was too high and she is a student (my daughter). She is 26 so that's why she has to have her own membership. I get it. Also the hot tub and rooftop pool is extra, so be aware. They also have a Recovery area that includes infrared saunas and cold plunge, plus a variety of other equipment. That's an extra charge too, but the first month is free so you can check it out. Other than that miscommunication, it's been pretty seamless. Every staff member I've encountered has been professional and super helpful. Kudos to the center for hiring great people. Any kind of exercise you could possibly want to do is under the roof of acac or at one of their other facilities. The classes and yoga studio is top notch. I've done a few classes and also yoga, signed up for the egym and have used the hot tub, sauna, plunge, etc., and it's all been good. It's only a week in and I feel right at home and motivated to work out every day. I still have so much more to try! I love that I can do something different everyday so I don't get bored. Joining acac costs more but so far it's worth it for us.
