This was the first place we ate at in PR once we were able to drop off our luggage and got situated with our room. It was conveniently close so it made for an easy drive after a long travel day. The host was friendly and the seating area was all outside which made for a very relaxed vibe. We must of gotten there right with the rush so it took a while for them to come around and get our drink orders and then again when we were ready to eat. The food was pretty good but it was unfortunate that some of the dishes we wanted from the menu were no longer available due to them running out. I would consider coming here more on the early lunch or an early dinner so you have more options to choose from. read more

For our last night in Puerto Rico we decided to go to Asador Boricua. We passed it so many times during our stay in Luquillo. We were looking for something low key with a nice atmosphere. This place more than fulfilled our expectations! Our sever was very attentive and friendly. The food was spectacular! So flavorful! One of the best meals we had on our trip! I ordered the Churassco Mufungo. The meat was by far the best quality we had on the trip. The mufungo was also hands down the best (and we ate a lot of mufungo)! I ordered a garlic butter sauce for my dish one the side. A lot of the mufungo offered at other places came with it, and needed it! This one did not need it! I felt foolish because I barely used the sauce, the dish was so delicious and moist! My husband ordered the Pernil al Caldero. He loved his dish as well. I hope this place does well, they deserve it! Asador Boriqua in Puerto Rico is a culinary treasure! The food is absolutely delicious, with the same incredible menu and ownership that made El Ambique in Isla Verde a beloved spot until its closing. I loved it so much that, during my recent trip to Isla Verde, I happily drove 30 minutes--twice--to savor their dishes. The staff is exceptional, and the food is out of this world. It would be amazing if the owner reopened the former location in Isla Verde. El Ambique was truly like a "Cheers" for tourists and locals alike, and it feels like a big part of the community is missing now. WOW WOW WOW WOW BEST FOOD IN PUERTO RICO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We came here after a wonderful hike, water slide, rope swing, and cliff diving in El Yunque rainforest. Staff are friendly and ambience is airy with natural breeze and light. The skirt steak was DELICIOUS - we ordered it medium rare and it was perfectly tender and juicy. The chimichuri sauce was made with fresh herbs and oil. We loved dipping the succulent skirt steak in the chimichuri sauce for a perfect bite. It came with 1 side and a yummy salad. The ribs were so tender and fell off the bone. You don't even need to chew. It melts in the mouth. The ribs were glazed with a smokey barbecue sauce. The whole dish was decorated with yummy bbq, chimichuri, and sriracha sauce which paired perfectly with the ribs. We finished the fantastic meal with decadent chocolate cake with raspberry sauce and chocolate drizzle. So good!!! read more

I was here as part of a tour I did in the rainforest. We stopped here for lunch/early dinner. They have a big open but covered patio which shades you from rain. The menu had all the Puerto Rican classics. The service is fast given how many tourists / tours were coming in and they kept up with their guests. Communication between kitchen and servers is horrid. Our server was super nice and tried to accommodate as possible but the kitchen/cooks did not help. We ordered 1 kids tender, the server went to the kitchen to confirm that they were available and was told yes. After waiting for an hour they come back and say they are not available!!! We ordered a red snapper, after several minutes they advised not available which is fine, we then ordered a pork chop with mofongo and they brought out the pork chop with tostones cause "the cook said it was faster" (not what I wanted)!!! We waited for more than hour an a half for a salmon with mofongo and a hamburger!!! Wish the experience would've been better. This place was close to our Airbnb so we stopped for dinner one night. The service was good and the food was decent. There was a decent size parking lot that was easy to find and maneuver. The whole seating area is spacious and outside, but the view is of the highway and it's kind of noisy. I have been up and down that corridor a million times on vacation but this last time, I was there with my fiancé's family (there were 12 of us) and was really looking for something special. This place did not disappoint! The front of the house staff/server was top notch! I am remiss that I forgot her name (she used to live in the states briefly, tho) and spoke perfect English so she was able to assist my family with ease and no one but me spoke Spanish. This was clutch for me as I was able to just sit back and be a patron not a translator. The place was open air dining and it was spotless! The music was good and set at a decent volume so you could talk without yelling. Now let's get to the food! It was PHENOMENAL! We all ordered different things from Mofongo, to Pernil with Rice and Beans, to Fried Mahi Mahi Sandwiches. Not one dish disappointed. The portions were good. Everything was fresh. The beans were next level. And the skin on the pernil? O. M. G. I would risk it all to eat that every day. The chef was very nice and even came out to make sure all was good. He took an awesome pic with my future mother-in-law. This place is a must go when you're on your way to Farjardo for the rain forest or a day at Luquillo. It's really not far from the metro San Juan area, either so you could totally do it for a lunch as well. It is worth the trip. It was truly amazing. read more

STAY AWAY! I just got back from eating lunch here and ordered the chicken tenders. Upon them arriving at my table, I made a joke they looked like roadkill. Apparently I was right. Just come here! The food is fantastic. We ate the best skirt steak of our lives here. It could be my last meal on earth and I would be thrilled. Perfectly cooked and came with an herb oil on top and salad. We were also in the mood for ribs. They had a sweet barbecue glaze on top - we devoured them. So tender and fell off the bone. What was bad? Service was extremely slow, forgot my water, and never came back to ask how we liked our food. My Mojito tasted like it was all sour mixer. Even after I asked them to add another shot of rum. Our food was below par. We had the tuna steak and the steak wrap. Both were not worth finishing. This was the best food of our trip. It was so nice to have well-seasoned food and many non-fried options for a change of pace. My son loved his shrimp in pesto cream sauce with bowtie pasta. My husband really enjoyed his skirt steak, along with delicious coconut rice and flavorful beans. I had tasty ribs and coconut rice. We were pleased that the steak and ribs came with some surprise cooked spinach since vegetables were not that common at most other restaurants on our trip.
