I tasked my husband with finding a breakfast spot this morning, and thanks to Yelp, he found a great one! It was conveniently located near our hotel, so we were able to walk there. I ordered the Cowboy Burger and requested it medium, but it came out well done. That seems to be fairly common from what I've experienced so far in Puerto Rico, so it wasn't a major issue. My husband had the Americana Breakfast and thoroughly enjoyed it. The other couple with us both ordered the ham and cheese croissant and couldn't stop talking about how good it was. In fact, everyone in our group is already talking about coming back before we leave! The restaurant is very cute inside, with a welcoming atmosphere and a full bar. They also offer brunch, lunch and dinner, and outdoor seating, making it a great option any time of day. Fantastic smoothies and Puerto Rican cuisine! My friends and I stopped by Atabey for lunch and there was no wait for a table. The space is small, but nicely renovated! The menu is expansive and has lots of vegetarian and vegan options. I got the Keep Calm Colada smoothie, which was so refreshing and perfectly sweet! We started with the Vegan Sampler and it was delicious! The hummus was super fresh. For my main, I ordered the Classic Mofongo with garlic cream and a black bean patty. We stopped in for brunch and we're not disappointed. I had the cheese burger which was huge and perfectly cooked. My girlfriend had the baguette which she absolutely loved and my grandson had the cauliflower flat bread. Every dish was very good. The only negative is that they are a bit slow in serving their food. It seems like they may need some extra help. But overall it was very good. The restaurant is small but well decorated, a cool vibe. They also have outdoor dining with a few tables. A really cool spot!! read more

Did some research looking for delicious creamy mofongo al ajillo and landed on Atabey..so glad i did!! Right on the strip and easy to get to, it has a beautiful outdoor seating area bumping the latest tunes and an indoor dining room with about 5 tables and a wall of windows and a great ambience. Our Server Paola was sweet and attentive, we got the mofongo with carne frita, it was so delicious. I think i would have preferred the churrasco but wanted to try something different & honestly it was exactly what it was supposed to be. It was full of the delicious ajillo sauce but it was so good that i ate all the sauce and had to order more, which the staff promptly brought out. Definitely will come back here next time I'm in San Juan. Top 3 mofongos I've had. My boyfriend had the same but al criollo, he liked it a lot. read more

This was a cute place that seems to be popular for brunch but we ate there for dinner. They offer a little something for everyone including lots of vegetarian/vegan options :) We ordered the Tostones as an appetizer and for my entree I got the Classic Mofongo with vegan sauce and "stuffed" with the black bean patty. (FYI it didn't come stuffed but just served on top). The food was all super delicious! The only thing that was a little disappointing was that they were out of several items when we were there. Totally understand that that just happens sometimes, but unfortunately we had to change up our drink order, change our add-on for the entree, and we ended up going elsewhere for dessert as they were out of the vegan cheesecake too :( A bummer to not be able to try all of the things that we wanted to, but would definitely go again in hopes of getting to try again! read more

We stayed at Condado Vanderbilt for 12 days in the beginning of September. So happy to have such a great place right across the street. Drinks and food were fairly priced!! While we never ate in the restaurant, we looked forward to the evenings we ordered take out from here and enjoyed drinks while we waited for our order. Mozzarella sticks and chicken strips hit the spot! Even got to meet one of the co owners! She was a super cool lady and had great conversation with her. It was ok. The vegan mofongo was fairly tasty, and the tostones were fine. There was nothing outstanding about either. I do like that they have a vegan aioli (you have to ask for it), which I used for dipping my tostones. The dessert was a little dense/dry, but at least they offered a vegan dessert. Service was ok. I just think the waitress was over worked. She was running inside and outside by herself, and doing the best she could. They had live entertainment the night I went, and boy was it entertaining! The outside tables are great for people watching and enjoying the island weather. It's nice that they're vegan friendly. My husband and I enjoyed a quick and light dinner here. We ordered the fish and shrimp tacos. The fish tacos were amazing. I opted for the sauce on the side and ended up using the provided spicy hot sauce. The sauce was perfect!!!!! There was one young lady doing it all very efficiently. It was also a pretty small piece of fish. I ordered the mofongo with shrimp in the white garlic sauce. I am officially not a fan of mofongo. I would think twice fried plantains would be crispy. This dish was very mushy. The shrimp were good and I liked the white sauce. It had a mild garlic taste and a decent flavor. Overall though, I was not loving it and would not order it again. Atabey Condado was a stop for a quick and easy dinner in San Juan, PR. It was awesome.! Not much to look at, inside or out, but the cocktails and food were delicious! We started with a Flor Tropical and a Mezcalrita, both were light and fun, no agave added. A gin martini followed in between courses.... Food started with the truffle fries, not super crispy, but served piping hot with a garlic aioli... yum! The fish tacos followed... easily some of the best we've ever had, super fresh fish, fried golden and served hot on flour tortillas, topped with slaw and pickled onions. Outstanding. The finale was the churrasco, med rare, skirt steak, served with house-made chimmi churri and tostones de pana (tostones made from breadfruit in lieu of the usual plantains), with a pile of mashed potatoes too! The steak was amazing, the pana tostones delicious, and the potatoes light and fluffy. A great dinner. They're open for breakfast too, we'll try that next time! First stop in San Juan... a solid first that hit the spot we needed at he exact time we needed it. The pictures led me to believe it was a pretty upscale place, thankfully it was much more relaxed without falling fully into the street food scene. Menu selection was pretty solid and ran a wide spread from classic American to local Puerto Rican favorites. The food came out a little slower than I would like, but the quality made up for the wait. We ordered a couple cocktails to go with dinner and they were average. I would happily order them again, but I wasn't prepared to order a second. Too much sugar was the primary concern. The waitress that served us was friendly and happy to provide suggestion. There is limited indoor seating but plenty of seats outside. My only issue with the outdoor seating was the slightly loud music mixing with the street noise making conversation a little difficult.
