Bento Box for lunch!! Finally found another place to serve our bento boxes. Enjoyed the shrimp bento box that came with fried rice, california rolls and an egg roll. We started with Miso soup that really hit the spot during this cold snap. Next time I'm going to try the hibachi because from the laughing at one of the tables, I believe the chef was putting in a great show! I will gladly go back to this place! read more

Food is good. If you're ordering online: You pay a premium over their in-house menu price. In addition, you pay a flat "Processing fee" that may or may not be displayed when you check out. It shows up when you check out. I've seen it both ways, but you pay it either way. I prefer a transparent experience and have other good sushi places near me where this tactic is not part of how they operate. I would choose that experience. I know restaurants are struggling and support them when I can. I don't like surprises. So, don't be surprised. Just my opinion and experience. The subtle and overlooked fees need to stop. read more

Girls Lunch Day Out! My 7 year old recommend this place for me to try. Her and my sister...well I guess I should say her mother; frequent it. Very low keys no need to dress up. It's kind of like being in a bar. It was kind of humid in the store, but the service was great. Our waiter was so engaging and had the best attitude. I had the salmon tempura roll and spring rolls. My wife and I have been wanting to try this so we went tonight for anniversary and I can't say how well we enjoyed it. The service was spectacular and the food was second to none. Our chef did a great job and put on the best hibachi show we've ever had. She ordered the filet and I had the filet and shrimp. We took one of our sons and his wife with us. One got steak and chicken and the other had the hibachi Asami combination which is steak, chicken, and shrimp. The 2 combinations were only $1 more than the filet and the 3 combo was $2 over the cost of the filet. Don't think that the combos were smaller portions because they were not. My steak was as large as my wife's and a full portion of shrimp. The others also got full portions of each. We looked at our plates and immediately decided that we would all need to go boxes which we did. Our food was spectacular in every way. The clear soup and the salad were awesome. Their ginger dressing is so good! Our meats were all cooked perfectly the way we asked and so tender. The veggies were great and we all got fried rice which was also very tasty. The restaurant itself was immaculately clean and decorated very well. Never once did we wait for service as the servers were on top of it. The restrooms were very clean which you usually don't find at hibachi restaurants. I will say this is THE BEST Hibachi restaurant in the area and we'll be back again and again. One of our son in laws has to eat gluten free so we asked about that. They told us they do accommodate that but make it in the kitchen and not on the table grill so there is no cross contamination. I can't say enough about how awesome of a dining experience this was tonight. If I could give them 10 Stars I would. Don't miss this place because I guarantee you will love it. read more

We ordered take out. 3 rolls: Dragon, West Chester and Rock and Roll and some chicken stir fry. The rice was dry on the rolls. There was some flavor but overall not appetizing, even adding chile sauce and soy sauce didn't help. The Chicken stir fry was better though the chicken did not have flavor. The noodles were moist which was nice. We have gone to many places and the noodles were rubbery and or dry. If we give this place another chance it will be dine in though we will not have take out again. The person at the counter was kind and pleasant which is why I gave this 3 stars. read more

Not the greatest experience but would recommend giving the Hibachi Grill experience a try. Like many Asian Hibachi Grill restaurants, Asami has both standard menu table service and Hibachi Grill options for customers. When I visited, it was for a weekday lunch at a standard table off the menu. First off, the service was great. We were immediately seated and our server was perfect throughout the meal. On this particular Thursday at around 12:30pm, it was extremely quiet. Maybe 3 to 4 tables occupied. Hopefully this kicks up for them and/or that dinners are much busier. The food.... Drink: Diet Coke. Something was off. Don't know what it was, but the Diet Coke was awful. I didn't bring it up and just drank it. But I noticed a hint of sanitizer. We've all had this happen and it's not great. I'd rather sanitizer than realizing I've been drinking were the last person's lipstick prints haven't been washed off. So I guess there's an upside. Appetizer: Crab Rangoon. These were actually really good. Not the typical looking Rangoons as these were triangles. Light, crispy and full of the cream cheese filling. I liked these quite a bit. Lunch: Teriyaki Steak Lunch Bento Box. This came with Miso Soup, four pieces of California Roll, a good portion of sliced Teriyaki Steak, one spring roll (cut in half, and steamed white rice. The California Roll was just okay. Something was off. Like the Diet Coke, there was this sanitizer flavor that was in there as well. I can't explain it. The roll just didn't "pop" with freshness. I can't say if it was fresh or not, but it simply didn't impress. The Teriyaki Steak had a few things going on. The steak itself wasn't bad. Like most places, it was over cooked and not the best cut of meat, but it was okay. The best way to describe the sauce would be "lame". It was there visually, but it was not there in flavor. It was just nothing. Really low scoring on the steak. The spring roll was quite good. Cut in half, assuming for presentation, but I'd rather they just leave it whole. The white rice was just that - steamed white rice. Unfortunately I did not look closely at the itemized list. Here was the breakdown of our lunch: - 2 Fountain Drinks - 1 Crab Rangoon Appetizer - 1 Teriyaki Steak Lunch Bento Box - 1 Teriyaki Shrimp Lunch Bento Box Total: $41.00 (tip not included) It is completely my fault for not looking closer at the pricing on the lunch menu. But, for a lunch menu, I would expect to pay much less than $50 for two people to have lunch. If the food was on point, I probably wouldn't have felt that sting. Because of how I felt the food was, that's when the $50 really needled me. Would I go back? I'm not saying I'd never go back or saying that I wouldn't try their Hibachi Grill. But I have to consider that in our area, there are a number of good options that I would likely choose over Asami. When it comes to Hibachi Grills, well, (my opinion only....) if you've seen one, you've seen them all. They all mostly do the same tricks and same deal. Some of the Chef's are maybe a little more animated, interactive or talkative than others. Unfortunately I don't think I'd recommend Asami for lunch. I hate saying this because I want local businesses to do well and I think everyone should give it a shot. Plus, the server and the people there seemed very nice as well. It was just the food. The food wasn't all that good. Maybe it was a fluke or a bad day. Who knows. read more

This is a family owned and operated business located in the shopping plaza where the old Krogers used to be. We go here regularly and their product is outstanding and fresh. We went here for a friend's birthday dinner. I want to say better things about the place, but my wife and I have been to many habatchi places around the city and this was not our favorite. The service was great and the show was good. However, I would only go back for the food and the food was not worth a trip back. Also, the Moscow Mule that my wife ordered was probably the worst one we ever tasted. It was an okay time. I would only return if invited by someone else. read more

This place is super cute on the inside. Not busy on a Friday night. We actually left Toki because they were slammed and after 30 minutes waiting for a server and a drink had to go to plan B. Asami delivers on the sushi. Presentation on the boats with flowers is off the chart. Sushi quality was superb. Drinks cold and service prompt. Reasonably priced too. I think the only miss was my wife's chicken stir fry dish was just OK. Not much flavor. Sushi was a will return though. read more

We were looking forward to trying this new hibachi place and finally did tonite. It is very similar to Benihana, but MUCH cheaper and slightly better on many levels. We didn't have to wait as long for our chef to arrive, the food was every bit as good and the portion sizes generous. Service was friendly and attentive. Plus, even after spending much less, they gave us a $10 card to use on our next visit. We will be returning soon. read more

Ordered chicken hibachi for myself and a salmon hibachi with extra veggies for my lady and both meals were extremely bland the fried rice was basic no flavor or seasoning and it was extra for fried rice by the way. And the yum yum sauce was watery this is a very basic place that looks amazing on the inside but the food is something you can make at home. read more

Went for the first time and was impressed by the atmosphere and the wonderful sushi. Salmon skin hand roll, one of my staples and test of a new place was tasty and a work of art. I have been there three times in less than a month! The first time was on my birthday. Not only did we have two great hibachi dinners, they sang happy birthday to me, gave me a fried ice cream dessert and a birthday crown. The next time we went, we had spring rolls and Gyoza appetizers, two sushi rolls and hibachi dinners - again. The food was just as good as the first time and there was so much of it we had to take home leftovers. I met a group of friends there the third time, but this time, I just got Gyoza and a Pink Lady sushi roll. I think I'm going to have to get a Pink Lady sushi roll every time I go now, it was so good and so pretty! My friends all loved the place and were very happy that I suggested it. As word filled the streets of West Chester of Asami opening up, I felt the need to go see if all the hype was real. Well folks, I can confirm this place has that "it" factor. We walked into a quaint area that served all your needs. Booths and tables on one half, and a couple of hibachi grills on the other half. We had sushi that night, which was excellent. Our favorite was the East meet West roll, which features seared filet mignon on top of the sushi roll. This is one of the better hibachi restaurants. It's new to the area but seems to have a good following already. We were there on Saturday night January 27. We were seated right away. I think they might be short staffed because service wasn't stellar but it wasn't poor. I think everyone eventually got everything they ordered drink wise. We all thought the food was very good. The mushroom soup was tasty but super salty. Salad is the usual with the yummy ginger dressing. Our party had fillet, steak, chicken and scallops - all very good. Came here on Saturday for dinner. greeting was blah when you walk in. Opted for regular table. Our server was chewing gum while taking orders and just not feeling her vibe. Sushi was great tho. Ordered hibachi, 2 people dinner for $65 with lobster, shrimp and chicken. Not what I expected. No presentation of food . Just served in a plate, no love in the dish. The sauces was very very salty. Food was okay. The dish was mixed, you can't tell what you are eating. You can't even take a picture and say it looks delicious. Would I go back??? Maybe for sushi/sashimi only. read more

The girl in the front was friendly and welcomed us. The decor inside is nice, may be a bit older, but I think that is what gives it some charm. They have a couple tea rooms, which is nice, also a sushi bar, a large regular bar and then of course their hibachi grills which is the main event. Did not try sushi, so cannot give an opinion on that. But I did enjoy the food very much, it is on the more expensive side per person, but you know what you are getting here, it is the atmosphere, the show and the food all together to get the full experience for the price. I myself chose the filet mignon with scallops. Filet medium rare, it was cooked just the way I liked it, it was tender and flavorful and not over done. Scallops also were on point, the chef did a good job. I think he may have been newer as he did not do some of the tricks I am used to in a place like this. But he did a good job and was friendly. Our server was friendly, the only complaint is when we went to pay, he said we could not do individual payments and we had to do it in blocks of 4, which did not work for us. We asked to speak to the Manager and then we suddenly all had our bills split properly how we needed since we were a mixed group, so I thank them for doing that. We brought a cake as well and we were able to cut it up at the table and enjoy it there as well, so I cannot give them anything but 5 stars. Friendly, good food, entertainment and accommodating to our requests. Good experience all around. Enjoy!
