I would give this place 3.5-4 star rating on the food. The service was great and the ambiance felt pretty chill. I got honey walnut shrimp that was ok. They put pineapple cubes on the bottom of it that soaked the breading and thought that was odd. If something was fried you'd want it crispy or crunchy. I also go the karrage. This was fried and wasn't really crispy or crunchy. More oily than anything. My main entree was the black garlic tonkatsu that was ok. Highlight of it all was the noodles. They were good! The broth wasn't as hot as I wanted it and some of the toppings were somewhat cold including the egg. I've had a lot better ramen other places but this isn't too bad. Would I come back? Probably. New restaurant where rapid fire pizza used to be! We needed some more Asian food in Fairfield. Large menu, lots of options. The drinks, I recommend Thai iced tea, or the chocolate milk tea. The sushi was amazing, it seems it's served fresh. There were like 3-4 employees in the kitchen. It was my first time trying the Phoinex roll, and it's so good. It's a very significant and different taste. The ramen was also very good, lots of flavor. Really looking forward to trying out more of their menu! read more

It's always hit or miss when you go to a hole in the wall in a strip mall, but this was a very big hit. The space is larger than you'd expect, and decorated in a really charming fashion. It felt like a treat just going in. Service was friendly and prompt and the menu was enticing enough that I regretted only being able to eat so much. Prices were about what you'd expect for sushi at a small spot (as opposed to a fancy restaurant). I only ordered sushi, and the presentation of the food was really lovely. The sushi was good, but I wouldn't rate it better or worse than any other I've had. They did have boba. I didn't try the ramen, etc. but my friend said it was good. The spicy miso ramen had just the perfect amount of heat - I asked the server and she told me if you'd like it spicier just ask! The service was great, considering the restaurant was full and the two servers were really hustling to keep up - my ramen was served up quickly- but, my appetizer was forgotten! I was really looking forward to the gyoza - the dining room is very casual, and the decor is very relaxed - giving off the local sushi bar vibe - the restaurant is close to my house - so, I'll definitely be eating here often!! read more

I finally got around to trying Kyushu and I was really impressed! I admit I had low expectations lol but everything I had was very well executed and the ambiance here is awesome, especially for Fairfield! I'm so happy this is only 5 min away!!! This is my first stop for Flavors of Fairfield and it's very worthy! The staff was very kind to me when I asked how to check in and the code was right there lol + Mango green tea - Sooooo good!!! Can't believe I have a solid place to get boba so close to me now! The drink wasn't too sweet even though I didn't modify it, and the boba was great! Awesome mango flavor! + Karaage - I agree with another reviewer who said this is not Japanese style karaage lol. However, the meat was tender and juicy and I really liked it! It was nice. Haven't actually found legit karaage around here yet, if someone knows let me know. Probably at Chako or Mochiko they have it. + Sushi rolls - I got the tuna mango, yellowtail with scallion (hamachi negi) and eel avocado. All were great! They season the rice here! I could cry! Lol I'm very simple. The fish is fresh and everything was flavorful and done very well. Next time I may try a special roll or whatever. Would definitely try nigiri here too. Next time I will try gyudon, so happy this is on the menu. Someday I'll try the ramen too, not a big ramen person though. We are from out of town and went to Jungle Jims and decided to find a neat new place to have lunch. We were craving Asian, Thai or Chinese, and found this place. When we saw it from the street it looked very small because it was part of a strip mall. When we got inside, it was very welcoming And very tastefully decorated. Our server was so friendly and made sure we knew we could stay as long as we wanted to, and that it was no rush. He was very attentive to our needs and helped us pick menu items. The steamed shrimp Gyoza was delicious and both the udon noodles and the Ramen or very tasteful! I will definitely be returning to try many more things on the menu! read more

My wife and I have visited this restaurant many times and have always enjoyed our experiences. Unfortunately, this visit was different. We were not greeted at all and did not feel welcomed when we arrived. What was most disappointing was being approached about the tip we left. We have been regular customers for a long time, and the staff knows that we have never had an issue leaving a fair tip. Being confronted about it made us feel uncomfortable and gave the impression that we had done something wrong. We value good service and respect, which is why this experience was so surprising. First time ordering from here. The sushi was decent, not outstanding and I've had far better. Ordered the Oshinko roll, which was the best of the three items I ordered, but I will say half of the rolls were falling apart. The Spicy Salmon roll was sloppy, the spicy mayo was globbed on the top & it was too much, so much so that it overpowered the taste of anything else in the roll. Authentic and delicious is the best way to describe kyushu. Service was wonderful (I think the owners served us) and the atmosphere is classy, crisp and clean. I can't even begin to describe the choices but plan to share when you order. The establishment rises to the "first date" level if you are trying to impress someone. Finally opened, we were excited to try the restaurant. Ordered gyoza (pan fried), karaage (fried chicken), tonkotsu Ramen (ckassic). Gyoza needs to be fried longer to get that crisp on the skin, taste was not bad, just an ordinary. Karaage was good but if you expect Japanese flavor fried chicken, this is not. Used Chinese seasoning which pushes away from Japanese authentic flavor. Ramen... first of all, soup was not hot. Assuming that added toppings weren't heated up which made Ramen soup cold. Very interesting place. Had the Volcano Roll. Presentation was excellent, and it was delicious. Ordered the spicy tuna roll as well, but there was no way I could eat it after the Volcano Roll.
