My internet search led me to try YogaRenew at Hoboken location. I started with a trial class and absolutely loved the experience so much that I got monthly membership till the time I was due. The ambience is calm and the aura at the studio is very positive. I used to love the smell of incense sticks (definitely pregnancy brain). I remember being hesitant on my first class but the staff was so nice and helpful that it eased out my anxiety. The instructors are amazing and encouraging. I missed out on booking the Birthsmarter class on time. I loved coming here. Listening to personal experiences of instructors and fellow members used to calm my stressed pregnant brain. I cannot recommend enough these classes to fellow mamas to be.

What's different about this class is that it inspires peacefulness and self awareness, experiencing the present moment through breathing and meditation, where postures and exercises are simply a part of the process not the sole goal of the process. The room is dimly lit and the class is voice guided so it is easy to do the class with the eyes closed, which really helped me to disconnect from the distractions and focus on myself. No competition or trying to mimic someone else, no judgement, no pressure. And one of the best things is that you can enjoy this class as a yoga novice (like me) or a pro because it is up to you how far you stretch, how much you let go, and how deep you go within.

Both teachers are kind, thoughtful, and radiate peace - all the things you want in Gentle/Restorative classes. In the gentle flow class, the asana sequence was both slow and mindful while also giving the opportunity to address one's typical areas of tension - hips, hamstrings, shoulders. The classes were a refuge of quiet peace during a long stressful work week and allowed me to shift into my parasympathetic nervous system. I'm also grateful that the studio only charges $22 for a drop in class (which includes a mat rental if needed) - this is considerably less than other studios in town. I can't recommend this studio more emphatically.

The space is straightforward. The lobby is a little bit tight if the classes packed, but generally speaking everything that you need is here and the facility is extremely clean. They have lockers that have a lock included for personal belongings. Lyons Den has been around for such a long time (longer than most studios), so I do tend to trust their teachers a lot more in the heat, and they all seem to have a really strong Teacher training background. I also received some decent hands on assists here. I do look forward to the next time I get to come here, thank you so much!

She keeps a watchful eye on everyone and calls people out in a good way ("Rachel, lean forward", "three of you stop looking at your watch"). I have come to this studio two other times and while the sequence is consistent, the experience varies based on the instructor's energy and the music they choose. Sarah is great too. Staff is friendly and the place is clean. Mats and blocks are cleaned after each use. It's expensive. A drop-in class was $35 and included towels a month ago when I last visited NYC, and now it's $38 plus $5.50 towel rental fee.

Spin with Juggy and Melora is elite. Ive gotten so much faster in my road bike after just a few classes. Functional training with Nyerre Mays is un-unreal. He is such a cool dude and such a Pro. The pool is epic, the Jacuzzi forget about it. The entire staff is super friendly and makes everyone feel super welcomed. I truly feel at home whenever I make it to the gym. The MVPs of the gym are the cleaning staff though, everything is so spotless all the time. In a city so chaotic is nice to have this peaceful oasis.
