I have only wonderful things to say about Urban Souls. It is one of the best yoga studios that I have been to. The instructors are kind, helpful, and give great adjustments. The space is gorgeous as well, especially at sunrise. They really try to foster a warm and welcome community here at Urban Souls; they even have a wine and cheese night every other Friday! I took a yoga class here for the first time last week and was really impressed with the studio! The instructors were so welcoming; they went out of their way to greet every one individually and ask about their prior yoga experience. The studio is very clean and relaxing. Like most studios, they ask everyone to take their shoes off at the entrance, and their are cubbies inside for personal items. I booked this class through ClassPass, and the email said to bring your own mat. However, they had mats, blocks, and bolsters available for anyone that wanted them. They also offer virtual classes (our instructor was taping herself during the class) but I plan to visit again in the future for in-person classes. read more

This is a beautiful new studio in downtown Hoboken. The studio is very bright due to all the windows letting in natural light. They have plants and mood lighting to add to the relaxing environment. I always feel peaceful when I enter the space. The staff are very friendly and welcoming! They offer a variety of yoga and body movement classes. I have enjoyed the Melt performance class which is great for getting your body realigned. I also took the kickboxing class and that was a great workout! A good way to release tension and sweat it out. I highly recommend the urban warrior yoga classes too. They are challenging and build balance and strength. Hope to see the class options continue to grow! They also feature social events such as live music and wine on Friday evenings after class! read more

As all my Yelp friends know, I've been "traveling" to different yoga studios via my ClassPass account. I've never been to New Jersey in real life, but now I can say I've been here through the fabulous Urban Souls! I attended the Yin class online with Samantha. It was absolutely everything and more I could have hoped for! Yin classes can be deeply hit or miss for me if the teacher isn't a Yin teacher (so often, it's just a teacher teaching Yin, not a Yin teacher teaching Yin). It's a slower practice and inherently more spiritual. Therefore, I always appreciate when a Yin teacher makes a real effort to make it a more spiritual experience through their words and breathwork, instead of just barking out pose names in a sterile way. Samantha really delivered in that regard and I still felt a connection to the studio, even through a virtual screen! I loved taking this class and felt great afterwards! If you're looking for a wonderful Yin experience, I highly recommend a virtual class at Urban Souls. read more

Just above playa bowls, the Urban Souls studio is on the 4th floor with a nice view of the Hudson. The studio is clean, spacious and welcoming. Plenty of room for students to stash their stuff. Nice variety of classes and diverse staff styles- means there's something for everyone. These guys are serious about a great environment for yoga but don't take themselves too seriously. Loads of workshops and extra opportunities outside of the usual classes. My favorite is the shamanic sound healing w Leigh Higgins. If you are looking for a yoga class or a studio to call home, definitely worth taking a few classes. You'll like it. read more

I got here more than 12 mins late during a thunderstorm and they told me I was unable to join the class as I was over 10 mins late as according to their late policy. Mind you, their lard policy was not displayed once during the booking process not in the confirmation email. These ppl lack empathy and there are much greater yoga studios who are at least competent at making sure their patrons see their critical policies. read more

Alright - so let's get something straight. I am not a 'yogi' and I hate working out. If you've read my YELP reviews, they are mostly about restaurants because I love eating. Yet I am compelled to write a review for Urban Souls because this place is just that awesome. I took my first yoga class back in December. It was at another new studio in Hoboken, and the class was a free beginner class. It was a nice workout, but I felt like the studio lacked...well, soul. You see, I am a true beginner. I do not know the difference between Warrior 1 and Warrior 2, and I really don't know if my Downward Facing Dog is correct. At the other studio, I felt embarrassed that I didn't know these things, but here at Urban Souls, I feel like its okay to come as you are. In fact, during the Weekend Wine Down, Julie (the instructor) encouraged us to do our own thing. "It's your own practice," she said. And that's what makes this place wonderful - Urban Souls truly lives and breathes the 'spiritually connected' mantra of yoga. Sure, there are several other yoga studios in Hoboken, but I don't need a snobby yogi sticking their nose up in their air because I can't hold a plank pose. It's the T, sis. So far, I've taken 4 classes in 10 days, and I am signed up for my 5th class tomorrow. On Tuesdays, I have taken two MELT classes with Denise - if you're interested in trying something totally unique for your body, this is for you. It's unlike any workout that I've ever done. The class is focused on moving fluid through your joints in order to reduce pain and inflammation (this is a very short summary). Denise is the perfect balance of 'push yourself' and 'positive encourager.' She will come over and correct your poses (in a positive manner), and also cheer you on for pushing your body to the limits. I've also taken Restorative with Tam on Sundays. It's a mix of meditation and stretching, and Tam just exudes light. She's wonderful! Finally, I've taken Wine Down Weekend with Julie. Now, this is the most 'yoga-like' class I've taken - vinyasa, do they call it? (See, I'm learning!) Julie instructs a class that is an excellent balance of strength-building exercises and mediation. And you get to drink wine and eat cheese after!!! Karen (who I've met at the front desk) is a delightful person, and has been genuinely happy to see me come back for more classes. Brendan, who I've only met once, is also a spectacular dude because he made me feel welcome. The people here are what makes this place amazing. They are kind, welcoming, and want to give you a personal experience. I will gladly drive into Hoboken and look for parking to go to this place. Impressive, right? Definitely try this studio, especially if you are a beginner like me, and are looking to get into this practice. Five stars all around! read more

Beautiful studio. Kind and engaged owners and staff. Great community they're building here. There's no but, that's it. I tried the unlimited week (you can do it for $25) of classes, and I'm glad I did. It's a beautiful brand new studio with a great common room, mat storage, lots of cubbies and places to sit/get ready for class, and the studio itself is great. Huge arched windows, dark gray floors, plants and great lighting (that turns different colors built into the molding/base boards which is cool. I tried the rise &prime (at least I think that was the name of the class), and really loved it. I also like their restorative (not the Melt class though, and not the hybrid restorative involving Melt technique-I accidentally signed up for those and didn't care for them-personal preference, so that's not to say it's bad). My favorite class is their wine down fridays. It's a great active restorative class that eases you down from the busy week. Afterwords, everyone within the class and any members that are part of their community gather for lite bites and drinks-it's really well done. I'd give this place a 4.5 out of 5 if I could, and the only reason I can't give it a 5 is the location, lack of parking, and for me the specific mix of classes (some of them are for me, but not all of them). Try it out, and if I lived downtown I'd be a member in a minute! read more

I discovered Urban Souls when walking home from the Path one day. I was so excited to find a yoga studio in such a convenient location! The space is welcoming and beautiful, with a lot of windows to practice in natural light. I have tried classes with several different teachers and they have all been wonderful! They offer morning, afternoon, and evening classes so it's easy to fit a class in with my busy and changing schedule. My favorite is how many weekend class options there are! I used to take yoga classes at my gym, but it really doesn't compare to taking class at a studio, especially one as nice, clean, and welcoming as Urban Souls! read more

Starting with the physical space, at the top floor of a downtown Hoboken building filled with natural light; you can see lower Manhattan from the beautifully renovated studio. When COVID hit Karen, Brendan, and the team handled transitioning to livestreamed classes so quickly and provided clear instructions preclass that included FAQs and tips to adjusting to virtual yoga. The yoga classes offered are a nice mix and the meditation classes are top notch. Urban Souls studio is great for switching up your routine because not only do they offer various types of yoga classes, but they also offer a range of other classes. A mix of kickboxing/yoga, MELT performance classes, meditation, and more. Yoga isn't my main source of exercise, so I love the ability to take many different classes. I've raved about the studio to friends and coworkers so much that we had a lunch time group of 15 coworkers take a meditation class. It was a perfect midday break! read more

I've now been to 4 classes at Urban Souls and I can't say enough great things about this studio. From the warm and friendly staff to the beautiful space to the state of the art lights and sound system and giant windows this place is amazing. The classes are suitable for all levels and the icing on the cake... they have a wine happy hour on Friday evenings. This is without a doubt the best yoga studio in Hoboken! I recently became a member and am so happy I did! Urban Souls is a great studio that fosters an inclusive, encouraging atmosphere for yogis of all levels. The studio offers a wide variety of classes from restorative classes to advanced, fast flowing classes (Urban Warriors with Brendan is my favorite!). I've taken almost all the classes with many different instructors and they are all fantastic. The studio is also beautiful -- brand new, lots of natural daylight with large windows offering a view into the city, and beautiful lighting in the evenings or during meditation. I can't recommend this studio enough and am so happy I found them as I try to learn & grow my yoga practice. read more

Urban Souls is phenomenal! They hosted a private party for my bday and it was better than I could've imagined. We decided to do a crystal sound bowl meditation experience followed by social time with food and wine. The studio is so beautiful and the owners went above and beyond to make the event a success. My friends and I had a beautiful experience and were so impressed with Urban Souls. We can't wait to come back for other classes/workshops. Urban Souls is the newest addition to the Jersey City/Hoboken yoga scene. After Devotion closed, I was never able to find another studio where I felt at home, but now I do! The teachers are encouraging and thoughtful, and welcoming to students of all levels.
