After being in a car accident recently that was eerily similar to one I had experienced years ago that took 3 years to recover from; I was facing a similar predicament of migraines, being unable to sleep fully throughout the night and overall a very painful and strained neck. I made a few calls to PT offices where no one picked up or they informed me the next appointment would be over a month from now. I needed a visit as soon as I could. I called Ascend PT and Gina immediately picked up, listened to my situation and quickly booked me in to be seen within a few days. Gina is very professional and personable. She made me feel very comfortable right away and gave top quality care. I felt immediate relief after she worked on my neck and gave me exercises to work on. At this point, I have seen so many physical therapists throughout my life and Gina is quite competent. Substantial progress was made each visit and I would leave visits feeling refreshed and pain free. Meanwhile, at other places, I would be in pain for several months before seeing any progress. After seeing Gina for a month and a half, I was 90% recovered and after three months, I feel so refreshed and able to do all my regular exercise routines and activities. This review is way overdue but Gina is amazing and truly a miracle worker! Gina has a comfortable and clean office. She spends the time to get to know her patients and is able to quickly figure out what the problems are and come up with a solid plan. My older girls play travel softball and are catchers and unfortunately, they are prone to injuries (back, knees, bicep, inner thigh, feet, etc). Gina has successfully worked on them and helped them towards recovery multiple times in the last 2 years. In addition, my girls are currently in a weekly Pilates trio class with Gina to improve their overall body movement, while incorporating softball specific movements for throwing to include rotation in the truck and rotator cuff strengthening. I have been seeing Gina for a few months to deal with both an acute problem and some chronic back issues. She has offered me more help in that short time than I have had in years. The exercises she has given me are easy to do at home (dare I say enjoyable???) and have provided me so much relief after years of pain. Gina has been my game changer. She helped me rehabilitate and return to work. She got me back to living a regular life. I am a physical therapist with 19 years of experience in the hospital setting. I developed an overuse injury that countless people couldn't pin down, and I was useless to help myself. After six months of barking up the wrong tree and going on short term disability, a friend recommended I make the 40 minute trip to see Gina for a consult. She listened to my issues, methodically asked me pointed follow-up questions and performed an exam. She had my problem pinned down during that session and offered hope that she could help me. All of the strange constellation of symptoms that I had were related after all, and she had logical explanations for what I was feeling and what needed to be done to rehabilitate. She gave me a manageable amount of things to consider and habits to change in my everyday life, alongside exercises that built upon each other in complexity. Gina has excellent training and experience under her belt & utilizes a variety of methods to achieve positive outcomes: manual techniques, taping, core strengthening, traditional exercises, as well as Pilates-based exercises. As I came closer to returning to work, she focused my sessions and home exercises to mimic the common work functions I perform, and referenced all the exercises from previous weeks of therapy as things I could use to treat myself if things flared up. Gina is highly skilled. I had a problem with my iliosacral joint from a yoga pose that was causing low back pain. She was able to pinpoint my problem, correct it, and offer exercises to prevent it from happening again. I'm better than I was before I had the IS joint problem! Working with her has strengthened my core, improved my balance and my posture. I recommended Gina to my husband as he has back trouble from working long hours at a desk. Superb physical therapist - great technique, fully equipped and caring! This is my second time seeing Gina. The first time I saw her for lower back pain and the second time I am seeing her for a frozen shoulder. She's a wonder! She knows soooo much more than any of the doctors I've seen. Both times I have seen her, I have started to improve after just a few visits. She make sure you do the hard work necessary to heal --- but she is very kind about it. She is also extremely knowledgeable and her understanding of both pilates and physical therapy gives her a really large repertoire of exercises she can use to help you get stronger. I've been working with Gina for approximately 1 year and am grateful to work with such a knowledgeable and skillful physical therapist. I came in to see her due to a lower back injury and chronic back pain. She gave me the tools I needed to reduce the flare ups, and build my core strength. She has an arsenal of techniques to help reduce pain and increase mobility. Once the pain was managed, we started working on sport specific exercises to help me improve my surfing abilities. I started learning how to surf shortly after I learned about my herniated discs, and gave up weight training for surfing. My core strength was really weak, and I struggled with my pop ups, and back pain. I had been going to a different physical therapist for over a year. While I was improving, slowly, I felt like I wasn't making as much improvement as I should have been, given my effort level. I was referred to Gina by a friend and Pilates instructor who knew my case. I suffer from hyper mobility, I broke my hips, and have had 2 children, all of which has caused issues that in the end prevented me from sleeping more than an hour and a half at a time, as well as basic day to day things including sitting in a chair easily to work. Within 2 visits and introducing me to a Pilates technique, I can FEEL the improvement, I can sit for an hour (sometimes more) to work. I went to Gina because I had sciatica and posterior tibial tendon dysfunction. So I had really terrible back pain and also I couldn't walk a long distance without leg pain. Being an avid hiker, this was terrible. I had been going to Kaiser PT for over a year with very little improvement so I decided to try Gina. Within 3 sessions there was marked improvement in my back. I've been with Gina when she was still at Mt. Eden Physical Therapy. She has helped me with a lot of my injuries and helped me get to where I am physically today.
