The staff here are all lovely. I've gotten massages three times by three different masseuses and each time was wonderful.

A good neighborhood spot to get your wax done comfortably. The prices are decent and the service is good. The spa is small and clean. Ive had several massage sessions and i cant say as of today that I've been annoyed by "hallway noise"...the background music is soothing, at a good volume and it kills any 'hallway noise'. My fav massages were given by a Spanish lady who no longer works there-if she was still employed here I would've given this place a 5 star today.she was simply amazing-best hands from all the spas I had been to. read more

I love love love this spa. I've been coming to this spa since 2012 they are always upgrading the services they provide. I've done facials, manicures/pedicures, waxing and massages here all of which I was very satisfied. My new obsession here is the hydra facial they now do Danielle is great at it. The staff is very welcoming and pleasant. It's the only spa I've been to where I can spend money and not feel bad after lol. I had a life changing experience today thanks to Patrick, Tony and the entire team at the Ascend Spa. I have a very demanding job that causes severe neck and shoulder fatigue. I had a particularly tough day at work and ended up injuring my shoulder on a Thursday. I thought I could work through it, but it only got worse and on Saturday I was scrambling to find a physical therapist. I had no luck finding an office open on a Saturday, then out of desperation I looked up 'medical massages' and found this gem of a spa in my neighborhood. After a very helpful phone call with Patrick, I had a same day appointment with Tony. He invited me to come early to spend some time in the sauna to open up my pores and muscles. It was perfect. When I met Tony, I explained my job strain and recent injury. He was very in tune with my needs and paid special attention to all of my problem areas. I felt like I had found the perfect mix of physical therapist and masseuse. I couldn't believe how much of a difference I felt after only an hour with him. He used a multimodal approach to treat all of my ailments. I couldn't wait to schedule my next appointment. Tony and the team here went above and beyond any expectations I had. If there exists a "Tabitha's Salon Takeover" type of show dedicated to Day Spas, I could totally picture this place to be featured on there... because they seriously deserve to get their ass handed to them for how they rip people off. Out of the many facial experiences I've had, this was by far one of the worst ever! I was able to get a same day appointment on a weekday, late morning. I was thinking, "SCORE!" - Right?! WRONG! Now when I come think of it, I can understand why there was so much availability. From the moment I called to make the appointment, I was already turned off by the lady I spoke with. I mentioned to her that I am pregnant and if I should be concerned about any of the products used and she completely ignored me and just went on to ask for my name, number and credit card information. I almost wanted to ask if she had heard what I had just said, but later she says, "OK we have you all set for a prenatal facial".... Okayy so she did hear me, but just chose to ignore my question... so I asked if there's actually such a thing as a "prenatal facial" and what types of products are used and then she's like, "No, I was just saying that so that the aesthetician knows".... umm OKAY? whatever. I'm locked in now since they have my credit card info, and I convinced myself that I should be determined to have a great afternoon at the spa... getting my pamper session ON! So the facial itself... while Carmen was very sweet and we had a nice conversation about motherhood and child rearing, the pleasantries ended right there. I have to echo another reviewer here about being left in the room multiple times and not feeling like I got my money's worth. I went in for a 60 minute Deep Pore Cleansing Facial, and what I got was about 30 minutes her time, AT MOST. The website states that the facial should include: - skin analysis - steam - manual pore cleansing extractions - exfoliation mask - suited skin type mask - moisturizer application - massage - heated hand mitt and cream treatment How come I never got my massage and heated hand mitt and cream treatment?!? Here's what I actually got: First, she cleaned off my face, 1 minute, maybe less, then applied steam for 7 minutes (1st time being left in the room). She comes back and starts on the extractions, 10 minutes, TOPS... and she goes on to say that I should come back in 3 weeks for a mini facial and she will get the rest. OK, that's fair since I figured she was being accommodating to the fact that my skin is probably at a more sensitive state at the moment...but what negated all of that is her pushing a $20 peel treatment on me, which I turned down because at this point, the brush she used on my face was so harsh that my skin already felt like it was burning. So she then applies a mask and leaves me in the room again for about 10 minutes.... comes back in and says, "if you are under 12 weeks, we should skip the massage, and I'll give you another mask". I guess she was just assuming that I'm not as far along (pregnancy-wise)... so I told her that I am passed the 12 week mark (which should be fine for a face and neck massage)... but she went ahead anyway and puts the second mask on and left me in there for the remainder of the time I had left, which was about another 15 minutes. How did I know that it was for 15 minutes you wonder? Because the loud ass clock in the corner of the room was ticking away while I just laid there twiddling my thumbs! She then comes back in, cleans me off and sends me on my way. I come outside to check-out... and of course I see her yapping away with another staff member. When I visit other spas, they usually offer water after a treatment, but not here! Instead I was bombarded with sales pressure by the receptionist. They use a product line called Eminence, which is apparently all the hype these days, I'm sure it's all wonderful. Actually come to think of it, if I had purchased these products, I probably would have given myself a better facial at home than what I got here (BTW... the receptionist told me that I can only purchase these products at a spa, so I should purchase through them... but FYI, they sell these products on Amazon and for a fraction of the price!!) Oh and what I found to be almost comical was what I saw in the bathroom. They installed one of those Xelerator quick dryers... you know, the ones that are super loud? and placed up a sign next to it that said, "to decrease noise pollution, please use dryer only when door is closed". Now why in the world would they install a dryer like that at a spa where people go to be away from the noise and to feel relaxed? There were some other minor unpleasantries that went down here, but I'm about to hit my 5K character limit, so I'll spare you my cynicism! =) Anyway... Don't waste your time and hard earned money here (for facials)! This place is a total JOKE! read more

I took my mother here during spa week, we got the massages that were featured and I also got my mother a facial. The massage for me was pretty relaxing, I had a male masseuse which I don't usually get (I think his name was Giovanni?) sorry this was a few months ago so I can't remember. Anyways, he was very respectful and was always asking if the pressure was fine so it was a good massage for me. My mom really enjoyed her massage and facial. The waiting room can be a bit noisy as it is right in the middle of the nail salon it seems like, and you do hear some outside noise in the massage rooms. So you just have to use some mind over matter here. They took cash only for spa week, not sure if this is the norm. The location is convenient for those that take the LIRR...there is parking but you just have to look around a bit. Down the street is the best little coffee house, I hung out there waiting for my mom to finish her massage. My sister went back again with my mom after I took her, since it is in a good location for them and the prices are reasonable and everyone was very very nice. The gentleman that booked me was very helpful (I want to say his name is George?) and gave me great explanations on all of the options and didn't try to upsell me on anything. Although this wasn't my first visit to Ascend, this review is for my most recent experience. At the last minute I called Ascend to schedule a prenatal massage. Had been dealing with excruciating sciatica pain and needed some immediate relief! Rita at the reception desk answered my call and was able to squeeze me in for a same day appointment. She is a genuine woman who really cared about my concerns. My massage was with Tony, who might as well be a magician! He was very gentle and highly skilled at what he does. During my 1 hour prenatal massage (prices were pretty much comparable to other places, like Massage Envy), he targeted my pain areas as well as all other areas of tension. The next day, Rita even called to see how I was feeling which was very sweet. After my massage my pain is more manageable and I will definitely be returning soon to Ascend for another magic miracle! I have been getting laser hair removal for many many years and finally I found a place that I actually see results. Ascend Day Spa has the latest and greatest laser hair removal machine and it is great. There is a new cooler on the machine that makes the laser less painful. You feel almost nothing. I would definitely recommend this place for laser. The technician is very knowledgable and CERTIFIED. In the past the technicians I went to were not licensed and most often are not! read more

Came in for a gel manicure before a big trip while my partner got a massage (he rather enjoyed it). I told the technician that I thought he was going to propose on our trip and needed my nails to look extra special for pictures. The initial manicure came out great, despite a hiccup where the technician used base coat instead of top coat on my left hand. It didn't last as long as I was hoping it would and not wanting to risk it, I made a new appointment and got them redone right before we left. I reminded the technician that I was leaving for a big trip where I had a feeling my partner was going to propose and wanted my nails to look great. The technician kept making mistakes the entire time: forgot steps in the process, got gel paint on my fingertips, left bubbles in the paint -- almost felt like she was rushing me out the door as I was the last appointment for the night. It was more stressful than it should have been, but the manicure came out okay. For a gel manicure, they aren't lasting very long though and I'm not sure if it's just my nails being healthy or how they were done. For that price, I don't think I'll be returning to find out though. (Three stars because the receptionists were so lovely and accommodating on our first visit and my fiancé -- yes he proposed! -- really did love his massage from Jeffrey) read more

My first trip to Ascend was when I was 13 years old for a facial. The facial was as painful as it gets but my face had never looked/felt so clean. Ever since that visit I was hooked, I have gotten gel manicures, facials, and waxes here and have always had a great experience. I stumbled upon this place a few years back when I moved to the area. They are always very friendly and do a great job. One time I had a manicure and I was accidentally over charged by $100- when i noticed the mistake, they were very apologetic, refunded the money, and gave me a free manicure. I also recently went there for a 15 min chair massage. When I explained to the massage therapist that I had twisted my neck in my sleep, she recommended I lay on the massage table and not do the chair. She definitely went longer than 15 min. I was honestly expecting her to charge me for a 30 min massage, but she only charged for the 15min chair massage that i originally asked for. I've been going to Ascend Day Spa for many years now. I've had only positive experiences. It's clean (very important), friendly, and has a cozy atmosphere. I use thier facial, mani pedi and waxing services. Carmen does fantastic facials, Rosalba does excellent waxing. I've also gotten a full body scrub there, which was soooo amazingly relaxing followed by a steam shower (highly recommend it). Prices are very fair for the great quality of services. Staff has always been friendly and accommodating. I am so thrilled that the spa has expanded. I used to go with a friend years ago when they only had one room for facials. So we had to wait for each other. Now we go in and get whatever done at the same time. Keep up the good work! read more

I happen to walk into this spa today. I have lived in the area for three years and have always walked by it. But Walking into the spa today made for an amazing surprise. Apparently they don't really do walk-ins but I got lucky enough where someone called to cancel their appt at the exact time I asked for a massage. It was so meant to be!!! It gets even better.... They took me into the waiting room and I waited two min - if that. My massage therapist Charles came to greet me take me into the room and ask what I needed etc. I get undressed and ready for the massage. ----I have been to a lot of massage places/spas in the last three years. Massage envy, couple of places in Manhattan, soho house in Miami, the list goes on. I always get deep tissue and always ask for a lot of pressure (which is usually not done by the therapist). But Charlessss! He exceeded my expectations in so many different ways. He is so pleasant, easy to talk to, smells great lol and the pressure was amazing all over. He knew exactly where I was feeling pains and took great care of the areas. He hit a lot of pressure points which I have never had done. He used hot stones which felt amazing and stretched me. I didn't want it to end but I honestly felt so much better physically and mentally after it I knew I would be ok. The manager is a pleasant guy he took care of me during check in and check out. I will definitely be back. Hopefully before December 6th because that's Charles last day :(. I give this spa 4 stars instead of 5 just for the ambiance outside that massage room. I got my parents a couples massage for their anniversary and they absolutely loved it. The person I spoke to on the phone was very nice and helpful. Would definately recommend, my parents had the most relaxing anniversary ever! Don't be turned off by the bad reviews give this place a try and you'll be glad you did. Also I didn't think it was pricey, I had made reservations at PURE spa for the same couples massage and it was significantly more. I took a chance and it paid off. On a Friday midday, after a bad week in a series of bad weeks, I called and asked if they had an opening that afternoon; lucky me, Tony was available. Everything was just right: a peaceful, minimally lit room, well-chosen and varied sounds, and a massage made up of a generous variety of approaches, inc hot towels (with no annoying chit chat.) It had been years since my last massage, so I was wound pretty tight. I must have left a lot of bad behind on that table because I went away feeling lighter and happy. I had a regular facial with an add on vit c treatment. I did not enjoy my facial, the women was nice enough but was more aggressive that I am used to, not gentle at all, she seemed to rush all the steps too, and during the facial I was left in the room 3x (once for steam and 2x for a treatment), each for about 7-8 minutes at a time. I do not feel I got my money's worth at all. There was a total of maybe 3 minutes of massage on my neck and maybe another 3 total on my face, this was out of an entire hour!!!! Facials are usually relaxing for me but I was just annoyed when I left. The music was weird too, it was like one second it was nature sounds, then it was orchestra music then it was another kind of music, choose one and stick with it!!!!! It was a little too loud also. I did mention my feelings to the guy at the desk when I was leaving, he seemed to feel bad but no compensation was given. I am not sure I would try another service here. I have had facials my entire life and this was hands down the worst one I had (even worse than the one where all I could smell was the Chinese food the other workers were eating and hearing their conversations the entire time due to no private rooms). I know this place has been open for a while now. I've been wanting to try it since it opened. I got a deal on yelp for 50.00 for 75.00 worth of services. I finally went with my mom for spa mani pedis. I found this spa to be very cute and I feel it has a lot of potential. However, there were some things I thought could be improved. Overall the spa is cute, and has a nice relaxing feel. They have a lovely relaxation room with a very comfortable leather chaise lounger as well as tea and cucumber water. However, the rest of their equipment definitely needs updating. There are 2 pedi and 2 mani stations. I guess they work very strictly by appointment to limit the amount of people there, which is good. My Pedicure chair could not be moved forward because it was broken. Also the way they have the step situated to get up on the chair felt a bit hazardous and unstable. The mani chairs were very uncomfortable and kind of falling apart. Their towels could definitely be replaced. They were stained and had torn edges. Im sure they were clean, however for a spa, I would expect a bit more. As for the actual services, the gentleman at the front desk was very nice and accomodating. I also enjoyed my pedicure. I felt my nail tech was thorough and did a good job. I also enjoyed the massage (wish I could have had more time) The only thing is that my gel mani did chip a bit after only 3 days, which is definitely not supposed to happen. And she didn't wipe the nail off at the end completely so there's a film on most of the nails near the cuticles. Overall, things I could live with. My mom's nail tech however, really did not do a good job. She did french both on her nails and toes and the lines were not neat. She was nice but when you pay extra for something, and it comes out bad, you are bound to be unsatisfied. Overall, I would say I did feel relaxed and received what I came for. However, paying over 100.00 WITH the deal for 2 gel manis and 2 regular pedis? (they charge 18% gratuity) Ehh I guess it was an ok price for a spa but have had better jobs done at regular nail salons. I would try them for massages though. Like I said, its a nice place. Like the other reviewers,you will be put off by the the owner/receptionist, she a bitch hands down she does not make you feel welcome,you begin to feel more like cattle then a person. However when I got there I was greeted by a different receptionist Patrick , who was welcoming offering me tea, as I strolled in. I had to wait about 5 minutes, for Rosarba she walked me into the room and told me to take off my shirt, something I wasn't against however there is no where to put it, so I had to just drop it on a woven storage box. I was then covered by a small towel, but she offered to go under some covers/ a bunch of towels. She kept up some small talk and was generally friendly. What I really appreciated though was the fact that she changed the treatment to one that was a lower price for me. A gentleman's facial to a teen facial. This is my 2nd visit to the spa. The first time I received excellent service, however this time around was not the same. I booked a facial appointment with Brenda. She proceeded to do my facial and never touched my neck. She told me that I had not stated that I wanted to include the neck portion as part of my facial. This was the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. The neck and face has always been part of a facial. If this was not the case there would be a price separate for the neck. Services dedicated specifically for the neck. I hated the horrible excuse. She provided me with a half ass job. They tried to offer me 10% off but I refused. My spa experience was ruined. read more

Okay so I just finished a three hour spa vacation at Ascend and all I could say is WOW!! Really, the attention to detail is over the top for this wonderfully serene day spa. I had the Signature Ascension Massage with Esther that was intense to say the least. It's their own designed massage using several different techniques, hot towels, aromatherapy oils, scented eye pillows and hot neck wraps... Could you just sense the Ahhh?!? From the massage I was escorted to Elena for a Deep Pore Cleansing Facial. Upon meeting Elena she very considerately asked me if I needed to use the restroom or wanted some water, I chose the water IT WAS FLAVORED WITH LIME AND MINT, YUM! The facial was beautiful, yep I said it beautiful. Yea there was some serious extractions going on but Elena has great fingers and was able to clean me up with minimal pain. The masks, the creams, the products in general smell amazing, when I mentioned this to Elena she told me there were made of only fruits and vegetables from Emnence (I think that's how you spell it). My last service was a Color gel manicure and reflexology pedicure (as if I had not been rubbed enough, oh what the heck you only live once and I deserve it, lol). The manicure was fast and simple with a lot of colors to choose from, my local nail place does color gels but not many color choices. The reflexology pedicure was good, I would have preferred even more pressure but I didn't say anything so guess it was my fault also. I will be making this a regular spot, maybe not always for the three hour bliss but for anything my body needs... JUST AMAZING!!! read more

I was interested in coming here for the hydra facial and had a few questions about the steps involved. The receptionist couldn't tell me much so she took my number and said she would have someone call me back in 20 mins. After 2 days without hearing from them I called them back and left a voicemail. They never responded back to me until the day I was suppose to come in for the appointment. Very turned off! They are quick to want your card information to book an appointment but very lax in answering questions and returning calls. read more

I have been going to the Ascend Day spa since they opened. They recently expanded their space and their services. All of their tech's are NYS licensed and have years of experience. Whether you want a manicure, massage, fascial or a complete package, call, talk to them and they will work with you to totally satisfy you. I highly recommend them. Parking is street parking only, but they are steps from the LIRR, minutes from the E and F train and the Q10 stops in front of the spa. read more
